Zudio Brand Audit: Who Owns It And What It Publishes About Price

Zudio ran 982 shops at 30 June 2026, seven of them in the UAE. Its sibling chain Westside, owned by the same listed company and counted on the same date, ran 301.

Its clothes are not on Amazon, not on Flipkart, and not on Tata CLiQ — the marketplace Trent names as one of its own digital channels. They are not on zudio.com either. That site has a cart and an Add to cart button, and on 6 September 2026 it listed 204 products, every one priced at zero rupees.

The short answer

Zudio is a shop format of Trent Limited, the listed Tata company that also runs Westside, and whose promoter group held 37.0058% at 31 December 2025. The name has stood on the Indian trade-mark register in Trent’s own name since 13 October 2015.

No Zudio price could be established on 6 September 2026 — not on its own website, where 204 listings all read zero rupees, and not on any marketplace that could be read. So this page prints none. What Trent does publish is the mechanism: sale stock carries a revised MRP sticker, and the price at the till is the final price.

Who is answerable for a Zudio garment

Trent Limited, and the brand’s own terms say so: the website is “operated by Trent Limited (‘Trent’ / ‘we’ / ‘our’), a company duly incorporated under the Indian Companies Act, 1913 [CIN: L24240MH1952PLC008951]”. The registered office given there is Bombay House, the address printed on Trent’s audited results to 31 March 2026.

The shareholding pattern for the quarter ended 31 December 2025 gives the promoter group 131,550,881 shares of 355,487,461 — Tata Sons 32.45%, Tata Investment Corporation 4.28%. Trent’s own investor page publishes nothing later than a pattern labelled for the quarter ended 30 December 2023, so that December 2025 date travels with the figure.

Zudio is not run by a single company everywhere. Trent’s subsidiaries page names Fiora Hypermarket Limited, wholly owned through Booker India Limited, as operating retail under the Star banner and Zudio apparel. Zudio’s terms confirm the split from the customer’s side: they distinguish a “Zudio Standalone Store” from “Zudio Shop in Shop Stores (SIS)… with Star Bazaar Hypermarket / Star Quick”, and say a credit note or gift voucher issued in one cannot be redeemed in the other.

The name itself is owned outright. Three WIPO domain decisions recite Trent’s Indian registrations in their own findings, each with a decision date: the ZUDIO word mark, number 3078073, class 25, clothing, footwear and headgear, registered 13 October 2015. The marks stand in Trent’s own name, and no foreign proprietor appears in any of the three — a different shape from Arrow, whose Indian seller’s own filing calls it a licensed brand. Every foreign name in Trent’s world sits in a separate company: Zara and Massimo Dutti in associates where Trent holds 20%, the Star hypermarkets in a 50:50 venture with Tesco Plc UK. Zudio sits inside Trent itself. That 2015 registration is the earliest hard date for the name, and no Trent filing read here gives a first-store date, so no founding year appears.

What Zudio publishes about price

Nothing, and the way it publishes nothing is specific enough to describe. On 6 September 2026 zudio.com carried 204 published products, every one priced at zero rupees and none carrying a struck-through original. Twelve product pages read one by one all rendered the same visible line — “Regular price ₹ 0 Sale price ₹ 0” — above a quantity box and an Add to cart button.

All 204 are beauty lines: lip glosses, brow pencils, mascaras, nail top coats, dry shampoo. Not one garment is published. Each sits at an address of the form product-handle-1 through product-handle-204, and all went up within six minutes of each other on 17 April 2026. The navigation offers six departments — Beauty, Women, Men, EthnoFusion, Loungewear and Footwear — and the clothing collections behind it return no published products.

Trent’s own words point the same way. The operative clause in Zudio’s terms covers “offline purchase/procurement of Zudio products from the stores”, and the payment methods it lists — cash, UPI, cards — are those accepted “for offline purchase at Zudio store”. Trent’s Fashion & Lifestyle page names three digital channels for the fashion business: Westside.com, Tata CLiQ and Tata Neu. zudio.com is not one of them.

The marketplace routes close too. A search for “zudio” on Tata CLiQ returned 5,578 items on 6 September 2026, every rendered result a Westside label — Nuon, Utsa, Bombay Paisley, Zuba. Amazon.in returned 716 results with no Zudio brand, and the same search against Peter England does return Peter England, so the check works. Flipkart auto-corrects the word to “zodio”, an unrelated brand. Where a listing does carry the word, it is a third-party seller’s and not Trent’s price.

Nor do the filings help. Trent’s June-quarter release and presentation, its FY26 release, its audited FY26 results, its 2024-25 annual report and CARE Ratings’ rationale of 21 November 2025 all describe Zudio, and none carries a selling price or a price band.

Retailer, 6 September 2026 Listings read What the price said
Zudio, zudio.com 204 catalogue records, 12 product pages Zero rupees on every one
Westside, its own site and Tata CLiQ 267 records plus 10 listings MRP charged on all of them
Peter England, Myntra 220 214 below MRP

Westside’s and Peter England’s rows come from those brands’ own pages here, each carrying its own reading date.

Put the same question to several Indian clothing retailers on one day and the answers differ. Peter England and Flying Machine sat at a standing discount with no sale running. Westside — same owner, same day — charged the MRP it printed on every listing checked. Zudio publishes no figure at all. A permanent markdown is a decision a company takes; so is publishing a price.

“Everything accessible. Agile and fast to market. Exclusive fashion, exclusively at stores.” — Trent Limited on Zudio, Integrated Annual Report 2024-25

What Trent does publish about Zudio’s prices

The terms carry no numbers, but they carry the machinery, and it is more useful than it sounds. Sale stock is identified physically — “Kindly refer the signage at the back of price tags”, and on multi-buys “Kindly refer the revised MRP sticker behind the product label” — so a Zudio markdown is a sticker over a printed figure, not a struck-through number on a screen. The terms also settle which price wins: “Prices identified at the system during checkout shall be the final price of the products.” And on a Buy 2 Get 1 Free, which needs three sale items, the “Lowest Price item of the 3 items selected will be deemed as Free”.

Check 01

Turn the swing tag over

The MRP, the manufacturer and the country of origin are printed there and nowhere online, so the tag in your hand is the only version you get.

Check 02

Look for the sticker, then the bill

A rail marked SALE is not the same as a repriced garment, and the company’s own terms make the checkout figure the final one.

Keep the label and the invoice: returns run 30 days with both, innerwear, sunglasses, accessories and cosmetics are excluded outright, and a refund goes to the original payment method or a credit note “at Trent’s sole discretion”.

What the label on a Zudio garment declares

Pre-packed goods sold in India carry a declaration under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, notified as G.S.R. 202(E) on 7 March 2011. Rule 6(1)(a) requires the manufacturer’s name and address, Rule 6(1)(aa) the country of origin, Rule 6(1)(e) the MRP inclusive of all taxes. That block names who is legally answerable for the goods, not who sewed the garment.

Online there is none of it to read. The 204 Zudio product pages carry a title, the two zero prices, a quantity box and an Add to cart button. No manufacturer, no packer, no importer, no origin, no net quantity, no MRP, no fibre composition, no style code — and no readable marketplace carries a Zudio-brand listing to check instead.

Set that beside the sibling chain. On 6 September 2026 westside.com rendered, in visible text on the product page, the manufacturer and full address, the country of origin, the net quantity, the fibre composition, “MRP incl.of all taxes” and a style code — 21 declarations read, 20 naming Trent Limited at Bombay House and one Krsang Vastra LLP of Vapi. One company publishes all of that for one chain and none of it for the other, on the same afternoon.

So no country of origin can be given for a single Zudio garment, and none is guessed. Trent MAS Fashion Private Limited, a 50:50 venture with Singapore’s MAS Amity, manufactures apparel in India, but no document read here links it to Zudio, so no line is drawn between them. Trent’s 2024-25 report says more than 90% of its product suppliers by value comply with SMETA four-pillar standards — stated across the fashion portfolio, not for Zudio alone. Fabric weight in GSM appears on no Zudio listing, or any other large Indian apparel name checked.

The shops, and the money Trent does not split

Zudio stores, as Trent has reported them
  • 31 Mar 2025765 stores, two of them in the UAE
  • 30 Sep 2025806 stores, three in the UAE
  • 31 Mar 2026963 stores, six in the UAE
  • 30 Jun 2026982 stores, seven in the UAE

The September 2025 figure is CARE Ratings’; the rest are Trent’s.

The FY25 annual report puts 765 stores across 235 cities and records the first international shop opening in Dubai that year. In the June 2026 quarter Zudio reached nine new cities, more than 80% of the openings in Tier II and Tier III towns. Zudio’s own site claimed on 6 September 2026 to be “currently in 320+ cities in India” — the brand’s claim, printed here as one. Store size is “around 7,000-12,000 sq. ft.” in the FY25 and FY26 releases and “around 10,000-12,000 sq. ft.” in the June 2026 one.

One conflict is worth printing rather than resolving. Trent’s own quarterly update of 6 July 2026 gives 19 Zudio stores added in the June quarter. Trent’s results release of 6 August 2026 gives 22, including one in the UAE, with three consolidated. Both are the company’s documents.

Trent reported the year to 31 March 2026 on 22 April 2026: standalone revenue ₹19,701 crore, up 18%, operating EBITDA ₹2,687 crore. The press release gives profit after tax of ₹1,988 crore adjusted for the new labour code impact; the audited results approved the same day give ₹1,967.82 crore. Two figures on one date, each with its own label, and neither is an average of the other. The June quarter gave ₹5,666 crore, ₹847 crore and ₹532 crore.

None of that is Zudio’s, and the audited results say why: “Main business of the Company is retailing / trading of merchandise… Accordingly, there are no separate reportable segments.” No Zudio revenue line exists in any financial statement. One sentence sits outside the accounts: Trent’s press release of 29 April 2025 says, in the Chairman’s Message, that “In FY25, Zudio revenues exceeded a billion dollars.” That is a threshold in a chairman’s message — no rupee figure, not repeated in the FY26 release, not a reported segment. Anyone who converts it or divides it into group revenue is estimating.

What the record holds on Zudio

Trent has taken three Zudio domain disputes to the WIPO arbitration centre and won two. In D2023-3569, decided 6 October 2023, the panel ordered zudiofranchise.com transferred, recording that the respondent had hosted no content and made no bona fide offering of goods or services. In D2024-1166, decided 10 May 2024, zudiofranchising.com went the same way.

It lost the third, and the loss belongs in the same breath as the wins. In D2022-4435, decided 9 February 2023, the complaint over zudiofitness.com was denied: a women’s fitness studio in Srinagar trading as “Zudio Fit Women” kept the name, the panel finding a legitimate fitness business with no attempt to create a false association with the apparel mark. A name unmistakable in a mall is not automatically the same company in another trade.

The most useful decided matter for a reader is a court’s. On 15 December 2025 the Delhi High Court passed a final decree in CS(COMM) 890/2024: a permanent injunction against Defendant No. 1 and an order transferring the domain trent–tata.com to the plaintiff within two weeks, the defendant having proceeded ex parte. The court’s record describes a party “claiming to be TRENT-TATA PRIVATE LIMITED (a non-existent fake company)” and offering a “ZUDIO” store franchise for ₹2,17,710, using a fraudulent domain and a “fake authorization letter” bearing forged signatures. Zudio’s own site publishes exactly one route for a would-be retail partner: zudio.rba@trent-tata.com, in its footer.

The advertising council’s file against Zudio holds one row, and what it is about matters as much as the count. It concerns influencer disclosure — whether a paid social post was labelled as an advertisement — and it was not upheld. Nothing in it touches a garment, a fabric or a price. The blank around it was looked for rather than assumed: the same search, against a brand known to have a thick file, returned all 61 of its rows. That council is a self-regulatory industry body rather than a statutory regulator, its findings run to one advertisement as it then stood rather than to a form of words, and nobody has ruled on any Zudio advertisement as it stands today.

Common questions

Can you buy Zudio online?

No route to buy could be established on 6 September 2026. zudio.com lists 204 products, all beauty lines, every one priced at zero rupees, and Trent’s terms for that site cover purchases made at its shops. Trent names Westside.com, Tata CLiQ and Tata Neu as its digital channels.

Who owns Zudio?

Trent Limited, listed in India, CIN L24240MH1952PLC008951, registered at Bombay House, Mumbai; its promoter group held 37.0058% at 31 December 2025, Tata Sons holding 32.45%. Zudio apparel inside Star stores is run by Fiora Hypermarket Limited.

Why does this page not give a Zudio price?

Because none could be found. The brand’s own site prices every listing at zero, three readable marketplaces carry no Zudio-brand listing, and five Trent documents and a ratings agency’s rationale give no price band. An unverifiable price is cut, never estimated.

How much does Zudio earn?

Trent’s audited results state there are no separate reportable segments, so no Zudio revenue line exists in any financial statement. The one statement outside the accounts is Trent’s press release of 29 April 2025, saying in the Chairman’s Message that Zudio revenues exceeded a billion dollars in FY25 — no rupee figure, and not repeated for FY26.

Where are Zudio clothes made?

Not established. No Zudio listing publishes a country of origin, a manufacturer or a fibre composition. That declaration is printed on the swing tag in the shop, so turn the tag over before you buy.

The FA take

The ownership answer is as clean as any on the Indian high street. One listed Tata company runs the shops, holds the mark in its own name from October 2015, and says in its own terms that you buy at the counter. Nothing is rented from abroad, and the three decided domain matters — two won, one lost — show a company defending a name rather than borrowing one.

The transparency answer is the other half. On 6 September 2026 its sibling Westside published a manufacturer, an origin, a net quantity, a composition, an MRP and a style code on every product page. Zudio published a name and a zero — so you cannot compare a price before you travel, and cannot read the declaration until the garment is in your hand.

A chain of 982 shops asks to be judged in the shop, so judge it there: turn the tag over, look for the sticker, and read the bill before you leave.
