Who owns Indian Terrain, which company signs for the shirts, what its own filings say about who makes them, and what its shirts and trousers cost in India.
Indian Terrain brand audit by FashionAudit: Indian Terrain logo and the headline “Listed Owner, Contract Makers” over a chambray shirt

Indian Terrain is a Chennai menswear name whose owner is the company selling it. Indian Terrain Fashions Limited is printed as proprietor of the “Indian Terrain” word mark on the trade-mark register mirror, prints its own name under “Manufactured/Marketed By” on its shirt page, and is the company named in the manufacturer field on all 20 records read on a large Indian fashion marketplace on 29 September 2026.

The company’s investor presentations describe an “asset-light” model and list “Outsourcing for the Final Output” among its capabilities.

The short answer

Indian Terrain belongs to Indian Terrain Fashions Limited, a listed Chennai company that took over the domestic division of Celebrity Fashions Limited under a scheme approved by the High Court of Madras on 16 August 2010, with 181 exclusive stores at 31 March 2026 and revenue of ₹377.67 crore for the year to that date. On indianterrain.com shirts and trousers carried MRPs of ₹2,299 to ₹3,599 on 29 September 2026; on a large Indian fashion marketplace the same day the first 40 listings’ median paid was 42.0% of their median MRP. The site’s return window is 7 days on one page and 15 on another.

Who owns Indian Terrain

The owner is Indian Terrain Fashions Limited, CIN L18101TN2009PLC073017, registered at Survey No. 549/2 and 232, Plot No.4, Thirukkachiyur, Chengalpattu, the address the brand’s site footer prints beside that CIN and a GSTIN. Two founding dates circulate. The brand says “Born in Madras” in “September 2000”, and screener.in prints “Incorporated in 2000”; the company’s second annual report says “The Company was incorporated on 29th September 2009”, and the companies-register mirror at zaubacorp.com, which prints the status “Active”, agrees.

On the trade-mark mirror at quickcompany.in, a search for “indian terrain” listed 11 marks of the brand’s among 20 results. Nine are printed to the company or the shortened “Indian Terrain Fashions”, all “Registered”: the word mark No. 905206 in class 25, filed 22 February 2000 and valid to 22 February 2030; No. 3374168 for “Footwear And Headgear”, with its proprietor printed as “Indian Terrain Fashions Public”, a string that is not the company’s full name; a 2003 label; and six 2018 device marks. The other two belong in the Celebrity Fashions section below. No registered user is shown on any.

A mirror reading gives a proprietor, a class and a status, second-hand. It carries no assignment history for these marks, and it says nothing about who stitches a garment or who a buyer can hold to account for one.

The company has no subsidiary, joint venture or associate, on its own statement for 31 March 2025, so its accounts are the whole company’s. For FY2024-25 it reported revenue from operations of ₹340.60 crore and a loss after tax of ₹42.66 crore; for the year to 31 March 2026, revenue of ₹377.67 crore and a loss of ₹4.91 crore. The 17th annual report was not on the investor page on 29 September 2026.

How Indian Terrain reaches the shelf

The Q1 FY26 presentation lists “Outsourcing for the Final Output”, “In House Designing Team” and a “Capital Light Model”. The Q3 FY26 deck gives the reason quoted below; the Q4 FY26 deck describes “an asset-light approach” and a “centralized warehouse in Chennai”. None of the three names a contract manufacturer or counts them.

Outsourcing for final output reduces production costs, increases flexibility, and allows focus on core competencies while leveraging specialized external expertise.

Indian Terrain on the shelf

On 29 September 2026 the brand filter on a large Indian fashion marketplace held 3,040 Indian Terrain listings. The first 40 in the marketplace’s own order were 17 shirts, 12 t-shirts, six trousers, three jeans and two shorts; their median MRP was ₹3,299, their median selling price ₹1,385, or 42.0% of MRP, and all 40 were priced below MRP. A Brooklyn Slim Fit Cargos Trousers listing showed both medians on one line.

The declaration block on a listing is the packaging label moved on screen: the party declared answerable for the goods under Indian packaging rules, the country of origin and, where there is one, the importer. It records who has put their name to the product, not whose machines ran; the address on the “Manufactured By” line can be a head office, a warehouse or a plant without the field saying which. On the first 20, the country of origin read India on all 20. The manufacturer field read “Indian Terrain Fashions Ltd – Survey No. 549/2 and 232, Plot No.4 Thirukkachiyur and …” on 19 and “Indian Terrain Fashions Ltd.,Indian Terrain Registered Office Address 208, Velachery…” on the twentieth. The importer field was blank on 19.

Both addresses are the company’s: the survey number is the registered office in the site footer, and the Velachery address is the one the trade-mark mirror prints for the proprietor of No. 905206. Neither is described as a factory in any document read. The seller of record on all 20 was a third-party marketplace seller.

Where Indian Terrain is made

India, on every marketplace record read, by makers the company does not name. No document read gives a vendor count, a location or a share.

The two product pages read on indianterrain.com print the company two ways: the Solid Full Sleeve Cotton Tencel Shirt page as “Manufactured/Marketed By: Indian Terrain Fashions Limited, CIN L18101TN2009PLC073017”, the Brooklyn Fit trouser page as “Manufacturer: Indian Terrain Fashions Ltd, Chennai, India”. Neither prints a country of origin.

The About Us page carries “Fairtrade certified” as a bare phrase, with no product line, certifier or licence number given.

Celebrity Fashions, the former parent

Indian Terrain began, in the owner’s “Our Journey” slide, as “1 flagship store in Chennai” inside Celebrity Fashions Limited, a listed garment company. The second annual report records how it became a company of its own: the domestic division of Celebrity Fashions was transferred under a scheme of arrangement; “The Honorable High Court of Madras approved the Scheme…vide its order dated 16th August 2010”; “The Scheme became effective on 3rd September 2010. The Appointed date of demerger is 1st April 2010.”

Indian Terrain, from a mark to a listed company
  • 22 Feb 2000“Indian Terrain” word mark No. 905206 filed, class 25
  • Sep 2000“Born in Madras”, per the brand site’s About page

  • 3 Sep 2010Scheme effective; appointed date 1 Apr 2010
  • 11 Mar 2011Shares listed on the NSE and BSE

The two companies went on dealing after the split, and the disclosure that shows it is dated. The FY2018-19 annual report’s Form AOC-2 records “Job work charges, purchase of fabrics, washing charges” and other dealings with Celebrity Fashions Limited under an approval of 13 November 2014 capped at ₹40 crore a year: a 2018-19 statement about a 2014 approval. The FY2023-24 and FY2024-25 reports each say the company “had not entered into any contract / arrangement / transaction with related parties which could be considered material”, and Celebrity Fashions Limited’s own FY2024-25 report names Indian Terrain Fashions Limited only in a directorship disclosure and a secretarial-audit line, with no transaction between the two disclosed.

Two marks on the register mirror carry other proprietor strings. Mark No. 1557702, “Spirit Indian Terrain (Label)”, filed 11 May 2007, is printed “Registered” with the proprietor “Celebrity Fashions”; mark No. 1252796, filed 2 December 2003, is printed “Registered” with the proprietor “Indian Terrain Clothing”.

Returns, warranty and who answers

Indian Terrain Fashions Limited is the only company on the footer, the terms, the cancellation page, the refund page and both privacy pages, and the terms are “subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at Chennai”. The site gives one warranty sentence and two return windows.

The cancellation page

The footer’s “Returns & Refunds” link.

  • “We accept returns within 7 days from the date of delivery”
  • Cancel “within 24 hours of placing the order”
  • Prepaid refunds “to the original payment method”; cash on delivery “via NEFT bank transfer”

The refund-policy page

The platform policy page.

  • “Up to 15 days from purchase. No questions asked!”
  • “Full amount of your returns will be refunded to your original payment method”
  • “All refunds are process within 5-7 business days”

Seven days from delivery is the figure the homepage banner, the product pages and the footer link carry; fifteen days from purchase is on the one policy page. The warranty clause reads, in full on the point: “Indian Terrain shall only provide replacement and/or manufacturer’s warranty in case of Indian Terrain branded goods which will vary from goods to goods”. No period is stated. The refund page and the privacy pages give a support email and phone number; a reading of the terms, the cancellation page and both privacy pages on 29 September 2026 did not find a grievance officer on any of them. For a garment that is wrong, the pages read give the support email and phone; the terms place disputes with the courts at Chennai.

What Indian Terrain costs in India

The home market is the reference market, so there is no cross-border price to convert. On 29 September 2026 indianterrain.com printed its prices “Inclusive of all taxes”; the first eight of 204 shirts were ₹2,299 or ₹3,299 and the first six of 57 trousers ₹2,599 to ₹3,599.

indianterrain.com, read 29 September 2026; the homepage trousers were marked 20% off.

The marketplace’s median MRP was ₹3,299, the figure on three of the five items above, and its median selling price ₹1,385; the listings were not read by style code, so no single garment is matched across the two. None of the three presentations gives a unit count, so revenue per garment cannot be set against the shelf. For other Indian menswear names, this site has separate audits of Peter England, Allen Solly and Blackberrys, each tracing who owns the name and what it costs here.

Checking an Indian Terrain is genuine

The brand publishes neither an authenticity check nor a list of approved sellers on any page read, so what remains is the label against the company’s own documents.

Check 01

Read the manufacturer line

Nineteen of 20 marketplace records named Indian Terrain Fashions Ltd at its Thirukkachiyur registered office; the twentieth gave the Velachery address the trade-mark mirror prints. A different name on that line needs an answer from whoever is selling.

Check 02

Match the CIN

The shirt page prints CIN L18101TN2009PLC073017 beside the company’s name, the same number as the footer and the register mirror. A different number is not the owner’s declaration.

Check 03

Compare the MRP, not the discount

All 40 listings read were reduced. Shirts on indianterrain.com were ₹2,299 or ₹3,299 and trousers ₹2,599 to ₹3,599; an MRP outside that band deserves a second look.

Check 04

Note the seller and the origin

Country of origin read India on 20 of 20 records, and each named a third-party seller of record. Keep the invoice with the tag.

The record in India

The decided matters on this page are few and old: the High Court of Madras order of 16 August 2010 approving the scheme that carved Indian Terrain out of Celebrity Fashions, effective 3 September 2010, and the listing of 11 March 2011. The companies-register mirror prints the company “Active”, and the trade-mark mirror prints “Registered” on all 11 marks it lists under the name. Nobody has ruled on anything else described on this page.

Who Indian Terrain is actually for

Indian Terrain suits a buyer who wants a Chennai menswear label whose owner is one listed company, whose name and CIN are on its own shirt page, and whose shirts cost ₹2,299 to ₹3,299 at full price on its own site. On the day read, the marketplace’s first 40 listings carried a median MRP of ₹3,299 and a median paid of 42.0% of it, with a third-party seller on all 20 records opened. The buyer who wants to know which factory sewed the shirt will not learn it from any company document read. For another Indian menswear name traced on this site, read the Flying Machine audit.

The FA take

Indian Terrain is a one-company brand, and that is its strength as a purchase. The listed company printed as proprietor of the word mark is the company on its shirt page, in the site footer and on 20 of 20 marketplace declarations, at its own addresses. No licensee or importer stands between the owner and the buyer in any document read.

The limits are in what the documents read do not say. The company calls its final output outsourced and names no maker. Its warranty is a single sentence with no period, its site gives two return windows, and no grievance officer is printed on any policy page. The marketplace’s first 40 listings had a median paid of 42.0% of their median MRP, with third-party sellers on the 20 records opened, while four of the five own-site items read sold at MRP the same day.

A well-traced Chennai shirt from a company that signs its own name; buy it on the MRP you can check, and treat the seven-day page as the rule.
