Jordan Brand Audit: Nike’s Jumpman Line in India

Jordan Brand is Nike's Jumpman line, reported inside Nike's figures. In India the shoes sell on nike.in from ₹8,995, and Myntra's Jordan shelf is apparel.
Jordan Brand brand audit card by FashionAudit

Jordan Brand is the part of Nike built around Michael Jordan and the Jumpman silhouette, and it is not a separate company. Nike reports it as a single line in a footnote: US$7,034 million of sales in the year to 31 May 2026.

In India the name leads two different lives. The shoes are on Nike’s own Indian website, imported and priced in rupees. Search Myntra for Jordan instead and you mostly find T-shirts and shorts, sold by an Apparel Group company as seller of record. This page sets out what each source actually says.

The short answer

Jordan Brand belongs to NIKE, Inc., which reports it inside its Nike Brand figures: US$7,034 million in fiscal 2026, down 3%. In India, Jordan shoes are sold on nike.in, where the product pages read on 21 September 2026 name Nike India Private Limited as importer and Nykaa Fashion Ltd as seller. Myntra’s Jordan shelf that day was apparel, sold on 40 of 40 records by Apparel Group Global Fashion Brands Pvt Ltd as seller of record.

What Jordan Brand is, and who owns it

Nike describes the business in one sentence in its annual report for the year to 31 May 2026: “Our Jordan Brand designs, distributes and licenses athletic and casual footwear, apparel and accessories predominantly focused on sport performance and streetwear using the Jumpman trademark.” The next sentence settles the structure. Jordan’s sales and results “are reported within the respective NIKE Brand geographic operating segments”.

So Jordan has no balance sheet, no board and no shareholders of its own. Everything about the owner, from the listed parent to Nike’s Indian company and its register record, is covered in the Nike audit on this site, and this page does not repeat it. What follows is what is specific to Jordan.

The Indian trade marks sit where Nike’s do. A register mirror, a copy rather than the register itself, shows NIKE INNOVATE C.V. holding JORDAN in class 25 since a 1990 application, and AIR JORDAN in classes 25 and 18 from 2002.

Jordan Brand’s history: what is documented

The relationship dates from 1984, by Jordan’s own account to the Associated Press in September 1997, and the Air Jordan 1 followed in 1985, according to Nike’s own feature on the shoe.

The launch of Jordan Brand as a line of its own is better recorded. The AP report from New York, dated 9 September 1997, said Jordan “will run a broadened Jordan brand of basketball shoes and clothing”. It would carry models designed for other NBA players he picked, among them Ray Allen, Vin Baker, Eddie Jones, Michael Finley and Derek Anderson. The first collection was due in November, with shoes “as low as $90”. The report called it a brand and a line, not a division or a company, and this page follows its wording.

Jordan and Nike, 1984 to 2026
  • 1984Jordan’s relationship with Nike begins, in his own words
  • 1985The Air Jordan 1 debuts
  • 1997Jordan Brand launched as its own line, New York
  • 2026US$7,034 million of sales, down 3%

Every entry comes from Nike, the AP or Jordan himself.

AP report of 9 September 1997, printed in The Battalion on 10 September 1997; Nike’s Air Jordan 1 feature; Nike’s fiscal 2026 results release.

How big Jordan is now

Nike publishes Jordan’s revenue once a year, in its fourth-quarter results release. The fiscal 2026 release, dated 30 June 2026, says Jordan products “were $7,034 million in fiscal 2026 compared to $7,270 million in fiscal 2025, down 3% on a reported basis and down 5% on a currency-neutral basis”. On this page’s arithmetic that is about 15% of NIKE, Inc.’s US$46,398 million of revenue for the year.

Fiscal 2024 is where the figures get awkward, because Nike has printed two numbers for it. Its 2024 release gave US$6,988 million on a “wholesale equivalent” basis. The 2025 release, which dropped that measure, shows US$8,701 million as the comparison year and a 16% fall measured against it. The two fiscal 2024 figures are on different bases, and the release read does not reconcile them. The like-for-like comparison is the one between fiscal 2025 and fiscal 2026.

Nike gives no quarterly Jordan figure; neither of the last two releases carried one. Its first-quarter results for fiscal 2027 are due on 1 October 2026, after this page was written, and the figures above are the latest Nike had published on 21 September 2026.

Who sells Jordan in India

Nike’s Indian store path for Jordan redirects to a Jordan landing page on nike.in, with links to shoes, clothing and accessories. The Jordan Shoes page listed 39 products on 21 September 2026. The shoes, in other words, reach India through Nike’s own storefront, with Nike’s Indian company as importer.

The product pages say who stands behind the pair. On the pages read that day, Nike India Private Limited was named as importer and marketer, and Nykaa Fashion Ltd as seller, with prices “Inclusive of all taxes”. Why a Nykaa company runs Nike’s Indian website is set out on the Nike page, from the site’s own terms.

There is no Jordan shop to walk into, on the lists read. Nike’s own store directory for Delhi and Maharashtra showed only Nike-branded store names on 21 September 2026. The same directory lists a “Jordan Manila” store in the Philippines, so it does name Jordan stores where they exist. Only those two Indian lists were read.

Two Indian sneaker retailers make their own claims. Superkicks says all its Jordan shoes are “100% original and sourced from authorized brand distributors”, without naming the distributor. VegNonVeg’s Jordan page carries a “Nike Authorised Brand Partner” badge.

Buying a launch is different here. A trade report of 30 January 2026 said SNKRS Web, Nike’s launch site, would no longer be available in India after the Nykaa handover, and nike.in showed no launch or draw section on 21 September 2026.

Myntra’s Jordan shelf is clothing, from another seller

Myntra’s Jordan brand filter carried 157 listings on 21 September 2026. Of the first 100, 56 were T-shirts, 13 shorts and eight track pants, and none was footwear. The median MRP was ₹2,299 and the median price paid ₹1,999, which is 87.0% of MRP, with 72 of 100 reduced across 21 distinct MRPs. Those are clothing prices, not shoe prices.

Forty product pages were checked for the declaration. All 40 named Apparel Group Global Fashion Brands Pvt Ltd as seller of record. The same company sold ALDO on 30 of 40 records on the same platform that day, and all 40 Charles & Keith records.

The manufacturer line named Apparel Group India Pvt Ltd on 38 of the 40, while the declared countries of origin were Vietnam on 21, China and Sri Lanka on six each, and Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia on the rest. A Legal Metrology declaration names whoever is legally answerable for the goods, not necessarily the factory that sewed them, so the two lines need not match.

For comparison, Nike-branded listings on the same platform, checked on 20 September 2026, named Nike India Private Limited as seller of record on 40 of 40.

What Jordan Brand costs in India

Two Jordan shoes carry the same style code on Nike’s American and Indian sites, which makes them the cleanest comparison available. Both were read on 21 September 2026, and the prices are printed as each site shows them, without conversion.

ShoeStyle codenike.com, USnike.in, IndiaDeclared origin in India
Air Jordan 1 Low, men’s, white553558-136US$120₹8,995Indonesia
Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, men’sDZ5485-003US$185, US launch page₹16,995Vietnam
Air Jordan 4 Retro, women’sHV0823-108No Nike US page found₹19,495Vietnam

nike.com and nike.in product and launch pages, read 21 September 2026. Indian prices are inclusive of taxes; the US pages do not say whether sales tax is included.

Three cautions go with that table. The US figure for DZ5485-003 comes from its launch page, because no live US product page for that code was found. The Indian prices include GST, while the American pages do not say whether sales tax is included. And on nike.in itself, the listing page showed an Air Jordan 1 Low at ₹7,196, “20% off” ₹8,995, while the product page for the same product number showed ₹8,995. Check the price at the till, not the tile.

Every Jordan shoe read on nike.in was declared as made in Indonesia or Vietnam, so each is an import. Customs duty applies to the landed cost rather than the shelf price, and Nike does not publish how the Indian price divides between duty, tax and margin.

On nike.in, each Jordan product page read names the importer, the seller, the factory and the country of origin.

For scale, a 100-listing marketplace sounding on 20 September 2026 gave Nike a median MRP of ₹4,495, adidas ₹2,899 and Puma ₹1,999, clothing included. The Jordan shoes read on nike.in run from ₹8,995 to ₹19,495, starting at twice Nike’s median, and this page treats Jordan as a premium footwear brand in India on that basis.

Where Jordan shoes are made

Nike does not split its sourcing by brand; its group-wide factory figures are on the Nike page. On nike.in, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG, DZ5485-003, showed Vietnam and Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd. of Dong Nai. The women’s Air Jordan 4, HV0823-108, showed Vietnam and a manufacturer spelt “Nam Dihn Stella Footwear Co. Ltd”. The Air Jordan 1 Low, 553558-136, showed Indonesia and PT Chang Shin Indonesia of Karawang, and two other colourways of the same shoe also declared Indonesia. Five shoes is a small sample, so read it as what those pages showed on one day.

What the claims stand on

Jordan’s product pages describe their technology in words rather than numbers. Each claim below was read on Nike’s own pages for a figure, a test standard and an outside laboratory.

ClaimWhat the page saysNumberStandard or laboratory
Nike Air, Air Jordan 1 Low“Encapsulated Air-Sole unit provides lightweight cushioning”NoNo
Air Zoom Strobel, basketball models“a secure and smooth ride underfoot”NoNo
Formula 23 foam“one of the most sustainable performance foams made by a NIKE, Inc. brand”NoNo
Leather, Air Jordan 1 High OG“premium nubuck leather and soft suede”No tannage or ratingNo

The Formula 23 line is the one to weigh. “One of the most sustainable” is a comparison, and the 2022 release that makes it publishes no figure, no method and no certifier. None of the Jordan pages read made a waterproof claim. Nike does publish a few real numbers on other lines, such as an energy-return figure for its ZoomX foam, and the Nike audit sets those out.

Fakes, and what Indian courts have decided

The Indian court record shows counterfeit Jordan goods being seized from shops. Four decided judgments naming Jordan marks were read, all brought by NIKE INNOVATE C.V., and all went the proprietor’s way.

At a Delhi commercial court on 16 August 2024, in TM 03/2021, a trader was permanently restrained from goods bearing marks including JORDAN, Air Jordan and the Jumpman device, and ordered to pay ₹1,00,000 in exemplary damages. The local commissioner had seized 1,401 T-shirts bearing NIKE and 11 bearing JORDAN. On 7 September 2024 the commercial court at Patiala House decreed TM 10/2021, brought by Nike Innovate C.V. and All Star C.V. against a trader, covering Nike and Converse marks, with ₹1,00,000 in exemplary damages.

On 20 September 2024, in TM/5/2022, the Patiala House court recorded a seizure of “25 pairs of shoes bearing impugned trade mark/ logo AIR JORDAN” and awarded ₹50,000 in exemplary damages. On 25 August 2026, at Saket, three traders were restrained from goods bearing NIKE and JORDAN marks among others, with ₹3,10,000 jointly and severally; the Nike audit covers that case.

The limits matter. The first three were decided ex parte, meaning the other side never appeared, and in the fourth the defendants were largely proceeded against without a contest. Each decree bound the named traders and the goods before that court, as the suit then stood. What they establish is a fact about the Indian market, not about Nike: counterfeit Jordan goods have been found in Indian shops and decreed against.

Check 01

There is no pair to look up

Nike publishes no code, serial or QR check for a specific pair, and no list of authorised Indian sellers. The checks available concern the shop and the box.

Check 02

Read the declaration

On nike.in the Jordan pages read named Nike India Private Limited as importer. A shoe box should carry MRP inclusive of taxes, the country of origin and an importer or manufacturer.

Check 03

Know which shelf you are on

On Myntra, the Jordan filter was clothing sold by Apparel Group Global Fashion Brands. Check the seller of record named on each listing.

Who Jordan Brand is actually for

Jordan suits a buyer who wants a known shoe from the maker’s own channel. On nike.in, the chain from factory to importer to seller is printed on the product page, and the owner publishes the brand’s revenue every year. The Air Jordan 1 Low at ₹8,995 is the entry point.

It suits less well a buyer hunting a launch or a bargain. The SNKRS route is not available in India, there is no Jordan store on the lists read, and the Jordan name on Myntra is a clothing shelf sold by Apparel Group Global Fashion Brands. Outside nike.in, check the seller and the declaration on each listing.

The FA take

Jordan’s paperwork is better than its legend. Nike publishes the brand’s revenue every year, US$7,034 million in fiscal 2026, and the nike.in product pages read name the importer, the seller, the factory and the country for each shoe. A buyer on nike.in knows exactly who answers for the pair.

Outside that channel the picture changes. Myntra’s Jordan shelf is clothing from Apparel Group Global Fashion Brands at a ₹2,299 median MRP, and the performance and sustainability lines are described in words rather than numbers. The Air Jordan 1 Low is ₹8,995 in India against US$120 in America, and Nike does not publish how the Indian price is built.

For the shoes, nike.in is the channel we would use, and the ₹8,995 Air Jordan 1 Low is the sensible way in; for Jordan clothing, compare Myntra’s shelf.
