Havaianas is a rubber flip-flop from Brazil, owned by Alpargatas S.A., a company listed on B3, the Brazilian exchange. In India it has a company of its own on the register, incorporated in 2018. What that company does today is much less clear than the day it was formed.
On 21 September 2026, Myntra’s Havaianas brand listing showed no products at all, in either spelling of the name, while a control brand read alongside showed 2,432. That is a fact about one shelf on one day, not about the country, and this page keeps the two apart.
Havaianas belongs to Alpargatas S.A. of Brazil, whose own reports say about 95% of its range is made in its own Brazilian factories. Its Indian vehicle is Alpargatas India Fashions Private Limited, a foreign company’s subsidiary incorporated on 25 May 2018; trade press in 2018 and 2019 called it a 51/49 joint venture. Who imports and sells Havaianas in India today is not established, and Myntra listed none on 21 September 2026.

Who owns Havaianas
Havaianas is a brand of Alpargatas S.A., whose investor-relations site lists it alongside Rothy’s and ioasys. The company’s shares trade on B3, the Brazilian exchange, in two classes: ALPA3 carries votes and ALPA4 is preferred stock.
The company’s own shareholder page, with a reference date of 31 July 2026, sets out who holds its 683,062,222 shares. Two names sit at the top.

This page calls Itaúsa and Cambuhy the largest shareholders, because that is what the table shows. Whether the company describes them formally as a controlling group is a question for its annual reference filing, which is not relied on here, so no such label appears.
The most recent results cover the quarter to 30 June 2026. Press reports of the release give net revenue of R$ 1,226.4 million, up 11.3% on a year earlier, net income of R$ 169.7 million, up 95.1%, and adjusted EBITDA of R$ 286.0 million. Those are the reporters’ figures, not a reading of the release itself.
One trade report breaks the quarter down by region: Havaianas Brazil R$ 809.2 million, Europe R$ 308.5 million, the United States R$ 22.1 million, and “Independent Distributors” — Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, and Latin America — R$ 75.2 million on 2.8 million pairs. There is no India line. The quarter to 30 September had not been reported as of 21 September 2026.
Who sells Havaianas in India
Foreign footwear brands reach India by four routes, and the useful question is which document names the route. A listed Indian partner may name the brand in its own filings, as Metro Brands does for Clarks and FILA — the company behind Metro Shoes — and as Bata India does for Hush Puppies. Some brands’ Indian websites name an unlisted operator. Some publish nothing. Havaianas is on the third route: a company carrying the owner’s own name.
The company is Alpargatas India Fashions Private Limited, CIN U74999MH2018FTC309940. The identity number reads plainly: unlisted, registered in Maharashtra, formed in 2018, and marked FTC, the register’s own code for a subsidiary of a foreign company. It was incorporated on 25 May 2018, and every register mirror read gives its status as Active.
Its registered office is at Ackruti Star, SEEPZ, Andheri East, Mumbai. It is registered under activity code 74999, “other business activities”, a services code rather than a footwear-retail one. Register mirrors carry an authorised capital of ₹67,38,15,000.
What press reports said in 2018 and 2019
The register says who the company is. The description of what it was meant to be comes only from trade press. Money Times, on 11 December 2018, reported a joint venture with Alpargatas holding 51% and Shoezone, a subsidiary of Periwinkle Fashions, holding 49%. Launch reports of 1 April 2019 named the partner as Shoezone Lifestyle LLP.
Those launch reports described planned single-brand stores in Mumbai, Bangalore, Goa, Chennai, Pune and Cochin, and investment of “over US$20 million over 5 years”. Whether the two Shoezone names are one business is not established. No filing read confirms the 51/49 split, or says whether the arrangement exists today.

- Dec 2018Press reports a 51/49 joint venture with Shoezone
- Apr 2019Launch reports name six cities for stores
- Jul 2024One register mirror carries three employees
The first, third and fourth entries are press reports; the second and fifth come from the register mirrors.
What the register mirrors carry now
The mirrors — private sites that republish company-register data — do not agree with one another, so each reading is printed as the mirror records it. On paid-up capital, ZaubaCorp and TheCompanyCheck give ₹25,76,52,680, Tofler gives ₹24.1 crore, and InsiderBiz gives ₹1,00,000, which reads as a snapshot from 2019.
On the latest accounts, ZaubaCorp shows a balance sheet dated 31 December 2022, TheCompanyCheck one dated 31 December 2024, and Tofler a latest financial year filed of March 2024. The mirrors also disagree on who sits on the board, so no board is printed here.
TheCompanyCheck carries three employees as of July 2024, and revenue growth of −85.36% for the 2023 financial year, without the revenue itself. Read together, those two figures describe a company that has shrunk sharply, not an importer of scale. They are one mirror’s readings, and the audited accounts behind them were not seen.
So the honest summary is short. Alpargatas has an Indian company, and it is on the register as active. Whether it still trades, and who brings Havaianas into India today, is not established.
What Alpargatas says about India
Three Alpargatas sustainability reports were read: 2021 in English, the Portuguese report titled 2023, and 2024 in English. India was not found in the reports read. The 2024 report lists 15 priority markets, from Italy and the Philippines to Angola and Israel, and 12 offices, including Dubai, Shanghai and Hong Kong; India is on neither list.
The same reading picked up the other markets and offices by name, so the gap is real for those documents. It says nothing about filings not read, such as the company’s quarterly notes.
A site at havaianas.in carries the title “Havaianas India”. Who operates it is not established here, so read its terms page for the selling company’s name before you order.
What Havaianas costs in India
No Indian price could be set on this page. Myntra’s brand listing for Havaianas showed no products on 21 September 2026 under either “Havaianas” or “HAVAIANAS”. Columbia, read alongside as a control, showed 2,432, so the listing was working. Typing the name into Myntra’s search box brought up 47,991 products, all from other brands.
That is one shelf on one day. It does not show that Havaianas is unavailable in India, and it should not be read that way. It does mean there is no price, seller of record or country-of-origin declaration from that marketplace to report.
The home side is easier. Alpargatas’ official European store, read on the same day, listed three core models at full price.
| Model | Style code | European store price |
|---|---|---|
| Havaianas Top, black | 4000029 | €22.00 |
| Havaianas Brasil, marine blue | 4000032 | €26.00 |
| Havaianas Slim, black | 4000030 | €30.00 |
Havaianas official European store, read 21 September 2026. The pages do not say whether VAT is included.
No Indian price for those style codes was taken, and no exchange rate is fixed here, so no rupee figure and no gap is printed. That is a gap in this page, not a statement that the same sandal cannot be bought in India. If you find one, the seven-digit style code is the thing to match.
The owner’s Indian company is active on the register; the shelf read the same day held not one pair.
Where Havaianas is made
Alpargatas is specific about its factories. The 2024 sustainability report names four in Brazil and their share of production: Campina Grande, Paraíba, 45%; Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, 32%; Carpina, Pernambuco, 20%; and Santa Rita, Paraíba, 3%.
The same report says “~95% of our portfolio, including our rubber flip-flops, is produced in our own factories”, and “~5% of our portfolio is manufactured by suppliers”. It does not say where the suppliers are. The 2021 report also gives four Brazilian plants, plus satellite operations, and mentions a factory in Dongguan, China, that belongs to Rothy’s, a separate brand.
That matters for how the brand describes itself. Its British and Singapore counterfeit pages call a genuine pair “made or designed in Brazil” — not “made in Brazil”. Read with the 5% supplier share, “every pair is made in Brazil” is more than the company’s own documents say.
What the rubber claims stand on
Havaianas sells a material more than a design, so its product and authenticity pages were read on 21 September 2026 for a number, a named standard and a named test.
| Claim, as worded | Where | Number published | Standard or test named |
|---|---|---|---|
| A “patented rubber blend” — comfortable, durable, keeps its shape, no strong odour | European store authenticity FAQ | No | No patent number given |
| “Durable rubber build designed for repeated wear” | Top product page | No | No |
| Strap 100% PVC, sole 100% rubber | Top, Brasil and Slim product pages | Composition only | — |
| “Natural rubber is also COA certified” | 2024 sustainability report | — | Certifier not spelt out |
The composition is stated plainly. The durability and comfort lines are descriptions, and no figure, patent number or laboratory stands behind them on the pages read. The strap on the core models is PVC, a plastic, not rubber, which is worth knowing before you pay for “rubber” alone. For a brand built on another moulded material, our Crocs audit runs the same test.
Buying a genuine pair
Alpargatas has taken web addresses using the Havaianas name to arbitration. On 7 April 2022, a panel of WIPO’s domain-name dispute service, in case D2022-0328, brought by Alpargatas S.A. and Alpargatas Europe S.L.U., ordered six domain names cancelled, among them havaianassaleindia.com, and found the mark “well known”. A 2021 decision, D2021-2385, ordered eight more cancelled, none of them Indian.
Those decisions dealt with those domain names as they then stood. They are rulings under an international domain-name policy, not Indian court judgments, and nobody has ruled on any site or seller beyond them.
Look for the label
The brand’s European FAQ tells buyers to check the strap logo and “a label with a hologram”; its British page speaks only of an “authenticity logo”. Look for both, and ask the shop if neither is there.
Read the manufacturer line
The European FAQ names “Alpargatas Europe S.L.U.” as manufacturer information on genuine stock. In India, turn the box over for MRP, country of origin and the company answerable for the goods.
Be wary of a sale-sounding web address
A domain built from the brand name plus “sale” and “india” was cancelled on the brand’s complaint in 2022. Buy from a shop whose selling company you can name.
None of the brand’s pages read publishes a serial number, QR code or code lookup for checking a pair. Havaianas Singapore offers to confirm on request whether a store is a recognised retailer, and writing to the brand is the nearest thing to a check.
Who Havaianas is actually for
A buyer who wants the Brazilian original is buying from a company that publishes its factories by name and share, and states its materials on the product page. That is a reasonably plain chain at the source. The Indian end is where it thins out: a company formed in 2018 whose current activity is not established, and no products on Myntra’s brand listing on the day it was read.
For anyone shopping in India, that makes the seller the thing to check. Name the selling company, read the declaration on the box, and treat a price far below the European list of €22 to €30 as a question, not a bargain.
Common questions
Is Havaianas a Brazilian brand?
Yes. It belongs to Alpargatas S.A., a Brazilian company listed on B3. Alpargatas’ 2024 report says about 95% of its range is made in its own four Brazilian factories and about 5% by suppliers whose countries it does not state.
Who sells Havaianas in India?
Alpargatas has an Indian subsidiary, Alpargatas India Fashions Private Limited, incorporated on 25 May 2018 and shown as active. Press reports in 2018 and 2019 called it a joint venture with Shoezone. Whether it still trades, and who imports Havaianas today, is not established.
Is Havaianas on Myntra?
Myntra’s Havaianas brand listing showed no products on 21 September 2026, while a control brand showed 2,432. That is one marketplace on one day, not proof that the brand is unavailable in India.
Are Havaianas straps made of rubber?
Not on the core models read. The European store gives the strap as 100% PVC and the sole as 100% rubber on the Top, Brasil and Slim.
How do I tell a fake Havaianas?
The brand points to the strap logo, an authenticity label — a hologram label on its European FAQ — and the manufacturer information. It publishes no code lookup, so buy from a seller you can name and check the declaration on the box.

At the source, Havaianas is well documented. Its owner names four Brazilian factories and their shares, says about 95% of the range comes from them, and prints the strap and sole materials on the product page. Buy a genuine pair and you know where it came from.
The Indian half is where scepticism belongs. A foreign company’s subsidiary formed in 2018 is active on the register, but one register mirror carries three employees and an 85% revenue fall for 2023, the 51/49 joint venture exists only in old press, and Myntra listed nothing on 21 September 2026. The “patented rubber blend” comes with no patent number.
Havaianas is a well-documented Brazilian product with an Indian route nobody has published, so in India you are trusting the seller, not the brand — name the company before you pay.
