Mufti Brand Audit: Owner, Contract Makers and Prices in India

Who owns Mufti, how Credo Brands Marketing Limited reaches the shelf without a factory of its own, and what the jeans cost in India.
Mufti brand audit by FashionAudit: Mufti logo and the headline “Owner, Contract Makers and Prices in India” over dark rinse slim jeans and a denim jacket on a weathered wooden crate

Mufti is a men’s casual-wear label owned by one Mumbai company, Credo Brands Marketing Limited, which was incorporated in April 1999, after the brand’s launch in 1998, and whose shares trade on the NSE and the BSE. The company’s filings describe no factory of its own: its annual report says it works with “over 50 manufacturing partners”, and its product pages print the company as “Marketed By”.

That arrangement is the subject of this page, read 29 September 2026. On a large Indian fashion marketplace that day the Mufti brand filter held 5,386 listings, and on all 20 records opened the “Manufactured By” field named Credo Brands Marketing Limited. On muftijeans.in a pair of Denim Deluxe jeans carried an MRP of ₹4,299 and sold at ₹2,149.

The short answer

Mufti is owned by Credo Brands Marketing Limited (NSE symbol MUFTI, BSE scrip 544058), incorporated in Mumbai on 29 April 1999, whose promoter group held 54.99% of its shares at 30 June 2026. Both “Mufti” clothing marks on the register mirror are printed to a “Credo Brands Marketing Public” proprietor string. Its filings describe no plant of its own and “over 50 manufacturing partners” on purchase orders. On the marketplace it is the declared manufacturer on 20 of 20 records and the seller on 5, and the first 40 listings’ median paid was 41.0% of their median MRP. The site offers a 7-day return, and its terms disclaim warranties.

Who owns Mufti

No document read records a change in the brand’s owner since the company’s incorporation. Credo Brands Marketing Limited began as Credo Brands Marketing Private Limited under a certificate of incorporation dated 29 April 1999, according to its prospectus of 21 December 2023, and became a public company by a fresh certificate dated 11 May 2023. The register mirror shows status “Active”, ROC Mumbai and paid-up capital ₹13,07,88,206; those are the mirror’s figures, not the filing.

The listing changed who held the shares, not who held the brand. The prospectus cover describes an “Offer for Sale of 19,634,960* Equity Shares” at ₹266 to ₹280, “30.54% of the post-offer paid-up equity share capital”, with no fresh issue. At 30 June 2026 the promoter and promoter group held 54.99%, the public 45.01%, and Bennett, Coleman And Company Limited 8.24%.

  • 1997“Mufti” mark No. 767770 filed in class 25 on 6 October, claiming use from 15 September
  • 1998The brand launched, per the About page and the FY2025-26 annual report
  • 1999Credo Brands Marketing Private Limited incorporated, 29 April
  • 2011Second class 25 mark No. 2127969 filed 8 April, registered 6 August 2015
  • 2023Conversion to a public company, 11 May; prospectus dated 21 December
  • 2026427 exclusive stores at 30 June, per the Q1 FY27 presentation

Six dated records from the company’s documents and the register mirror.

With no subsidiary, the accounts are the brand’s accounts. The audited results for the year to 31 March 2026 say “the Company doesn’t have any subsidiary, associate and joint venture company”. Revenue from operations was ₹5,921.03 million against ₹6,181.80 million the year before, profit after tax ₹474.24 million against ₹684.09 million.

Every trade mark on this page is a mirror reading. Two “Mufti” entries in class 25 are shown “Registered”, with the proprietor printed as “Credo Brands Marketing Public Limited” on one and “Credo Brands Marketing Public” on the other, neither the company’s registered name word for word: No. 767770, filed 6 October 1997, “used since” 15 September 1997; and No. 2127969, filed 8 April 2011, registered 6 August 2015. Neither shows a registered user, so the mirror shows no licensee. A 2011 series under the same applicant sits in more than twenty other classes.

A registration entry answers one narrow question, which company may stop others using the word on garments, and nothing beyond it. An entry does not say the proprietor sells anything, or that its goods are any good.

How Mufti reaches the shelf

The route begins with fabric the company buys and ends with a bill the company issues, and the making in between is contracted out. The Q1 FY27 investor presentation names three fabric suppliers, Arvind Limited, NSL Textiles Limited and RSWM Limited, counts “Over 50 Fabric and accessories suppliers” and “Over 50 Manufacturing Partners”, and describes “Non-exclusive arrangements with partners on a purchase order basis”. The FY2025-26 annual report calls the model “asset-light” with “no manufacturing fixed costs”.

From fabric mill to bill, as the company describes it
  1. Fabric and accessory suppliers“Over 50”, three named: Arvind Limited, NSL Textiles Limited, RSWM Limited
  2. Manufacturing partners“Over 50”, non-exclusive, on purchase orders; no plant of Credo’s own in the documents read
  3. Credo Brands Marketing LimitedDesigns, brands, keeps the inventory risk, prints its name as marketer
  4. 427 EBOs, 1,336 MBOs, 150 LFS countersAt 30 June 2026; EBOs split 35% COCO, 40% COFO, 25% FOFO
  5. muftijeans.in and the marketplaceThe contract is with the company on its own site; a third-party seller on 15 of 20 marketplace records

The company’s own documents count the stores by date.

Four dated readings from four documents, not a series. The later presentations also count “Online” and “Others” touchpoints, labels the documents do not define.

For FY26 the sales mix was “54.5% EBOs, 26.7% MBO, 10.7% LFS, 5.4% Online, 2.7% Others”. Even in “Franchisee-Owned on Margin Model stores” the “inventory risk remains with Credo”. Online the company sells for itself: “Any contract you enter into through the Website will be with CREDO BRANDS MARKETING LTD.” No company document read names Myntra, Amazon, Flipkart or Ajio.

Mufti on the shelf

On 29 September 2026 the Mufti brand filter on a large Indian fashion marketplace held 5,386 listings; a neighbouring filter, “4 TRIPLE O FIVE O BY MUFTI”, held 231 and was left out. The first 40 in filter order included 19 jeans, 8 jackets, 4 sweaters, 3 shirts and 3 t-shirts. Median MRP was ₹3,499, median paid ₹1,434, or 41.0% of MRP, and all 40 were below their MRP. A pair of Straight Fit Mid-Rise Stretchable Jeans listed at ₹3,499 was selling for ₹1,434.

Twenty of those records were opened. The seller of record was Flashstar Commerce on 15 and CREDO BRANDS MARKETING LIMITED on 5. Origin read India on all 20. The “Manufactured By” field named Credo Brands Marketing Limited on all 20, in two strings: “Credo Brands Marketing Limited No. 271 To275, 281 To 285 12Th & 13Th,Cross, Kare…” on 13, truncated where the field truncated it, and “Credo Brands Marketing Limited Sy No 10 Khatha No 162/1 89/1, Makali,Dasanpura H…” on 7. The importer field was blank on 12 and on 8 named the company at the first address, cut off sooner.

A “Manufactured By” string names the party that has declared itself answerable for the goods under Indian packaging rules, and here that party is the brand owner on every record opened. The two addresses are in the Bengaluru area, while the company’s own site prints “Marketed By” at its Mumbai registered office; both are the company’s declarations. What the line does not say is where a pair of jeans was cut and sewn. Of ten brand filters read the same day, Mufti’s 41.0% share was the second lowest, above only a belts shelf: one day, one marketplace, a reading and not a cause.

Where Mufti is made

No document read names a site the company owns. The prospectus says “we outsource … manufacturing … to job workers”; the FY2024-25 annual report says the company has “remained asset-light, continuing to outsource manufacturing”. Its activity code on the register mirror is 1810, which the mirror describes as apparel manufacture, adding “Both regular and contract activities are included”.

Where the partners are is not printed on any page read, so the only figure here is “over 50 manufacturing partners”. The only geography is the origin line, “Country of Origin: India”, on the three muftijeans.in product pages opened and on 20 of 20 marketplace records. Fabric is better documented than sewing: the company names Arvind Limited, NSL Textiles Limited and RSWM Limited. The same presentation, beside its partner count, gives the top five suppliers an average association of “Over 10 years”.

The company that signs and the partners that sew

The product pages print “Marketed By: Credo Brands Marketing Limited, B-8 MIDC Central Road, Marol, Andheri (E), Mumbai 400 093”; the marketplace prints the same company under “Manufactured By”. Both lines name the same legal person, as the party answerable for the goods.

MUFTI works with close to 50 fabric and accessory suppliers and over 50 manufacturing partners.

Credo Brands Marketing Limited, Annual Report 2024-25, page 30, read 29 September 2026.

What Credo keeps

  • “design, brand, and quality”
  • The inventory risk, at franchise stores too
  • The contract with the online buyer
  • The name on the label

What Credo contracts out

  • Manufacturing, “to job workers”
  • Fabric and accessories, from “over 50” suppliers
  • Running the COFO 40% and FOFO 25% of EBOs, in the company’s labels
  • Marketplace selling, on 15 of 20 records read

That split has a number attached. The FY2025-26 annual report lists “Avg. Revenue per Product Sold (₹)” at 1,323 for the year, 1,301 for 2024-25 and 1,285 for 2023-24. The unit count behind the average is not on the pages read, so the page carries the average and stops. The company calls its positioning “mid-premium to premium price range”.

Returns, warranty and who answers

The buyer on muftijeans.in holds a contract with Credo Brands Marketing Limited and a seven-day return window. The return policy allows a request “within 7 days from the date of delivery” for goods “in their original condition, unused, unwashed, and with all original tags intact”. Prepaid refunds go “to the original payment source” within “7–10 working days after the return is picked up, passed quality control, and received at our warehouse or store”. A “NORETURN” coupon gives 5% off for waiving the return. Whether an online order can go back to a store is not stated.

The terms give no warranty. They read: “To the fullest extent permissible under applicable law, We disclaim any and all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, in relation to the Products.” The FAQ has no entry on manufacturing defects.

Who answers is split across two documents. The terms have no grievance clause, deem the contract “concluded in Mumbai, India” and give Mumbai courts exclusive jurisdiction; the undated privacy policy names a Grievance Officer, an individual, at support@muftijeans.in. One line of the terms calls the operator “The Credo Brands Marketing Pvt Ltd.”, the company’s name before May 2023. Nobody has ruled on any of the terms described here.

What Mufti costs in India

The company’s own site is the reference. On 29 September 2026 muftijeans.in printed an MRP and a selling price on every page opened, and the home-page jeans were all marked 50% off.

muftijeans.in, read 29 September 2026. Style codes begin MFT- for bottoms and MFS- for shirts, with a letter suffix per colour or batch.

Three figures sit side by side and are not joined: ₹1,999 to ₹2,149 for jeans on the company’s site after its mark-down, a median paid of ₹1,434 across the marketplace’s first 40 listings, and the company’s own ₹1,323 average revenue per product sold. A sticker, a marketplace median and a full-year average across every channel are three different things.

Other Indian menswear names are traced on this site in the audits of Allen Solly, Peter England and Flying Machine.

Checking a Mufti is genuine

No page read carries a counterfeit statement or a list of authorised marketplace sellers. Its terms warn that “Any other domain name that appears to represent itself as being a Mufti Website may not be related to Us”, and the FAQ’s only direction is to “our offline stores” via the store locator.

Check 01

Read the “Manufactured By” line

On 20 of 20 marketplace records it named Credo Brands Marketing Limited. If another company appears there, raise it with the seller.

Check 02

Look for a style code

The company’s pages carry MFT- codes on bottoms and MFS- codes on shirts, such as MFT-45165-W. A listing with no code cannot be matched to muftijeans.in.

Check 03

Compare against the own-site MRP

Jeans carried MRPs of ₹3,999 to ₹4,299 on muftijeans.in on 29 September 2026. A price far under the company’s own sale price is the one to ask about.

Check 04

Note the seller of record

Flashstar Commerce sold 15 of 20 records read and the company 5. No company document read names a marketplace seller.

The record in India

A web search on 29 September 2026 for the company’s name with the mark and the words judgment, High Court and infringement did not find any decided court, tribunal or regulatory matter involving Credo Brands Marketing Limited or the Mufti mark; the nil is a nil on the terms used. Nobody has ruled on anything described on this page. The register mirror shows a neighbouring “Muftis” application by another applicant, filed 12 August 2011, as “Withdrawn”.

Who Mufti is actually for

Mufti suits a buyer who wants jeans declared as Indian-made, from a company whose ownership, accounts and label declarations all point to one listed name, and who accepts a seven-day return in place of a warranty. The two jeans pages opened on its own site sold at ₹1,999 to ₹2,149 on 29 September 2026; the Flying Machine and Allen Solly audits trace two other names. The buyer who needs to know which factory made the garment will not learn it from any Mufti document read.

Common questions

Who owns the Mufti brand?

Credo Brands Marketing Limited of Mumbai, listed on the NSE (symbol MUFTI) and the BSE (scrip 544058). Its promoter group held 54.99% of the shares at 30 June 2026, and both “Mufti” clothing marks on the register mirror carry a “Credo Brands Marketing Public” proprietor string.

Does Mufti make its own clothes?

Not on its own account. The company describes an “asset-light model” with “no manufacturing fixed costs” and “over 50 manufacturing partners” on purchase orders. Its own site prints it as “Marketed By” and the marketplace as “Manufactured By”, a declaration of responsibility rather than a factory.

Where are Mufti jeans made?

The origin line read India on three muftijeans.in product pages and on 20 of 20 marketplace records on 29 September 2026. Which partner made a given pair, and where, is not printed on any page read.

Is there a warranty on Mufti products?

Not on the site’s terms, which disclaim “any and all warranties of any kind”. The buyer has a 7-day return window, with refunds to the original payment source within 7–10 working days of the return clearing quality control.

Is Mufti cheaper on the marketplace than on its own site?

On 29 September 2026 the marketplace’s first 40 Mufti listings had a median paid of ₹1,434 against a median MRP of ₹3,499, while the two jeans pages opened on muftijeans.in sold at ₹1,999 to ₹2,149 after a 50% reduction. Two readings of two shelves on one day, not a rule.

The FA take

Mufti is about as legible as an Indian clothing brand gets on paper. One listed company has owned the name, on every document read, since its incorporation in 1999, is the proprietor, in strings beginning “Credo Brands Marketing Public”, on both clothing marks on the register mirror, files standalone accounts because it has no subsidiary, and signs for the goods on every marketplace record opened.

What the paper does not give is a factory. The filings put the sewing with more than fifty unnamed partners on purchase orders, and the only origin printed on the records read is the country. The site’s terms give seven days to return and disclaim warranties.

A clearly owned ₹2,000 pair of jeans from a company that designs, brands and answers for them, and says in its own report that partners make them.
