Titan Eye+ is Titan Company’s prescription eyewear chain — spectacles, lenses, sunglasses and eye tests, sold through 838 stores across India. It is Indian, part of the Tata group through Titan Company — in which TIDCO is actually the largest shareholder — and it competes in the one category where Titan is not the biggest player in the room. The important thing to understand is that eyewear is a lens business dressed up as a frame business, and that is where both the value and the markup sit.
Titan Eye+ runs 838 stores across 319 towns, against Lenskart’s 2,137 in India. Buy here for the eye test and the after-sales relationship, not for the price. The bill is driven by the lens rather than the frame, and Titan does not publish a frame price list. So the lens price is the number to ask for before you shop anything else.

How it started
Titan entered prescription eyewear in 2007, opening its first store at Safina Plaza in Bengaluru — the same building where Titan had opened its first watch showroom twenty years earlier. Titan calls it the third major consumer venture after watches and jewellery.

- OutnumberedThe gap between the two is now this brand’s defining fact
Titan spotted the gap in branded eyewear and a startup filled it faster.
What they actually make
Titan Eye+ is a retailer more than a manufacturer. It sells over 1,000 frames and sunglasses across 25 or more international brands alongside its own labels, with Fastrack Eyecare covering the younger end.
The service is the differentiator it markets hardest: a qualified optometrist and what Titan calls a 20-step precision eye test, plus complimentary spectacle insurance on purchases. For a first-time spectacle buyer, a standardised test performed by a trained optometrist is worth more than the frame on top of it.
Where the money actually moves is lenses. Titan reported that lenses led portfolio growth in the quarter to June 2026, with sunglasses and frames contributing more steadily, alongside double-digit growth in average selling price. In plain terms, the chain is growing by selling costlier lenses to broadly the same customers.
Note a discrepancy worth knowing. Titan’s own brand page claims “950+ stores nationwide”, and press coverage has cited around 900. The company’s dated quarterly disclosure puts Titan Eye+ at 838 domestic stores as at 30 June 2026. The quarterly figure is used throughout this audit because it is dated and reported to the market; the brand page appears to be rounded up or out of date.
What Titan Eyeplus costs in India
Titan does not publish a frame price list, and its online catalogue does not expose prices in a way that can be independently checked, so this audit does not quote frame prices. What can be established is more useful anyway: how the bill is built and where it inflates.
- Eye testGenerally free or nominal, and the strongest part of the offer
- FrameWhat customers shop on and negotiate over
- LensWhere the money actually is
The lens is the part almost nobody prices before walking in.
Lens cost scales with choices most buyers do not understand: index, coatings, progressive versus single vision, brand. The same frame can carry a lens bill several times its own price. Titan’s own reporting confirms this is where growth is coming from — lenses led the portfolio and average selling prices rose in double digits in the June 2026 quarter.
On value against the obvious competitor, the numbers favour scale.
| Scale and profitability | Figure |
|---|---|
| Titan Eye+ stores in India | 838 |
| Lenskart stores in India | 2,137 |
| Lenskart stores globally | 2,806 |
| Titan eyecare revenue, FY25 | ₹796 crore, 10.7% EBIT margin |
| Titan eyecare revenue, quarter to June 2026 | ₹289 crore, up 21.4%, 8.3% EBIT margin |
Revenue is growing and margin is not.
A chain premiumising its lens mix and still losing margin points is not winning a price war.
Who Titan Eyeplus is actually for
Titan Eye+ is for the buyer who values the eye test and the after-sales relationship more than the lowest price. First pairs, children’s glasses, progressive lenses and any prescription that has been getting worse are all cases where a trained optometrist, a standardised test protocol and a store you can walk back into matter more than saving a few hundred rupees. Spectacle insurance is a genuine benefit that most independents do not offer.
It also suits anyone in a smaller town — the chain reaches 319 towns, and in many of those the alternative is an unbranded optician with no published testing standard.
Skip it if you already know your prescription and are replacing a pair. That is exactly the transaction online-led sellers are built for, and you will usually pay less. Skip it too if you want the widest frame selection at the sharpest price, where Lenskart’s scale simply wins. And treat any bundled offer sceptically: two-pairs-for-one deals are usually built by moving margin into the lens.
Reputation and controversies
Titan Eye+ has no major documented controversies as of August 2026. No regulatory action, advertising adjudication, product recall, labour finding or pattern of consumer commission orders against the brand could be sourced.
The criticisms that do exist are structural rather than scandalous, and they are visible in Titan’s own disclosures rather than in any complaint: a store network less than half its main competitor’s, an EBIT margin that has slipped from 10.7% in FY25 to 8.3% in the June 2026 quarter, and a business that contributes less than 5% of Titan Company’s revenue. That last figure matters for a buyer, because it sets how much attention the division is likely to command inside a company whose results are driven by the gold price.
Parent-company controversies do not touch this brand. Titan’s documented issues — the withdrawn Tanishq advertisement of October 2020 and the 2022 SEBI penalty on eight designated employees — involved neither Titan Eye+ nor eyewear.
Buying it in India
Counterfeit risk applies to sunglasses rather than prescription eyewear — nobody fakes a lens prescription, but fake Oakley and Ray-Ban sunglasses are widespread in Indian markets and on marketplaces. Buying branded sunglasses from an authorised optical chain is one of the more reliable ways to avoid a “first copy”, the common Indian term for a counterfeit.
Get the lens quoted separately
Ask for the lens priced apart from the frame, in writing, before you agree to anything.
Ask which index and coatings, and why
These are the choices that multiply the bill. Make the shop justify each recommendation before it goes on the order.
Compare lens specifications, not frame discounts
Frame discounts are the part most easily inflated and then discounted back. Take the lens specification to the next shop and compare that.
Buy from an official store
Use a Titan Eye+ store or titaneyeplus.com. There were 838 domestic stores across 319 towns as at 30 June 2026, plus 9 Runway stores.
Do not buy prescription glasses abroad
The prescription needs to be current, and adjustments and remakes need a store you can return to. The warranty and the insurance only work locally.
Common questions
Is Titan Eye+ better than Lenskart?
For the eye test and after-sales service, it is competitive. On price, selection and reach it is not — Lenskart runs 2,137 stores in India to Titan Eye+’s 838. Choose Titan Eye+ for a complex prescription or a first pair, and on price for a straightforward repeat.
Who owns Titan Eye+?
Titan Company Limited, a Tata group company listed on NSE and BSE — though TIDCO, the Tamil Nadu government industrial arm, is its single largest shareholder at 27.88%. It launched the chain in 2007. The same company owns Tanishq, Titan, Sonata, Fastrack and Xylys. Eyewear contributes under 5% of Titan’s total revenue.
Is the eye test at Titan Eye+ free?
Titan markets a 20-step precision eye test conducted by qualified optometrists, and testing is generally offered free or at nominal cost with a purchase. Confirm at your store, since terms vary. The test protocol is the strongest part of the offer.
Why are spectacles so expensive in India?
Because the lens, not the frame, carries the cost, and lens pricing is rarely quoted upfront. Index, coatings and progressive designs multiply the bill. Ask for the lens priced separately from the frame before agreeing, and compare lens specifications rather than frame discounts.
Does Titan Eye+ sell genuine Ray-Ban and Oakley?
Yes. Titan Eye+ carries over 25 international brands alongside its own labels as an authorised retailer. Given how common counterfeit sunglasses are in Indian markets and on marketplaces, an authorised optical chain is one of the safer places to buy them.

Worth it for the eye test and the first pair; for a straight repeat prescription you are paying a premium for a network that is being out-built.
