Search Armani Exchange on Myntra and what comes back is not clothes. The facet carries 172 listings, and of the 100 read on 15 September 2026, 98 were watches. On the forty declaration records read in full, the manufacturer named most often is Fossil India Private Limited, on 10 of the 40.
Those watches are made under licence by Fossil Group, which is listed on the NASDAQ. Composition is published on none of the forty records, net quantity on two.
The clothes do sell in India, just not there. armaniexchange.in is a working Indian shop whose terms name Reliance Brands Limited as the seller, and the brand’s locator listed 32 A|X stores here the same day.
Armani Exchange in India is two arrangements at once. The watches are made under a worldwide exclusive licence Fossil Group holds to 31 December 2027, and on the marketplace they are 98 of every 100 listings. The clothes are sold here by Reliance Brands Limited, through armaniexchange.in and 32 stores. Neither company owns the brand: Giorgio Armani S.p.A. does, and the Giorgio Armani Foundation has held 100% of the shares since 11 September 2025.

What Armani Exchange actually sells here
The marketplace reading is clear. Of 100 listings read under the Armani Exchange facet on 15 September 2026, 98 were watches, from a catalogue of 172. It is not the only name there selling something other than clothes: the Guess facet, read the same day, came back 94 handbags in a hundred.
The clothes are here, under a different roof
armaniexchange.in is a full Indian shop priced in rupees, and its terms and shipping pages name the company behind it. Reliance Brands Limited manages and operates the site, those pages say, and sells apparel, footwear and accessories under the Armani Exchange brand through it. The site’s range runs to 49 categories — shirts, polos, dresses, jeans, trousers and coats among them. Two are watches.
That company is a public one, incorporated at Mumbai on 25 September 2007, CIN U51900MH2007PLC174470, with revenue of ₹2,415.8 crore for the year to March 2025 on a register mirror — a figure covering its many brands, not this one.
Add the 32 A|X stores on the locator, from Delhi and Mumbai to Ludhiana, Kochi and four airport doors, and the picture settles. Two channels, two companies, one name over the door. A licence is not a holding. Reliance Brands sells the clothing here; it does not own the brand, any more than Fossil does by making the watches.

Four parties stand between the designer’s name and the box, and the listing names only the last of them.
The licence chain, and how well it is documented
Most licensed brands make you infer the arrangement. This one is written down at both ends.
The licensor says it first. The Armani Group’s Sustainability Report 2024, approved by its board on 19 November 2025, says the group licenses in limited areas and names the licensees: perfumes and cosmetics with L’Oréal, eyewear with EssilorLuxottica, and watches and semi-precious stones with Fossil.
The licensee says the same in a filed annual report. Fossil Group describes “multi-year, worldwide exclusive license agreements” to make, distribute and sell watches under fashion brands, and lists Armani Exchange, Diesel, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors and Skechers among them. The territory stated is worldwide, with no India carve-out published. Its table, in the report filed on 12 March 2026, gives the Armani Exchange expiry as 31 December 2027, footnoted “subject to early termination in certain circumstances”.
The expiry date has moved
Nine of Fossil’s annual reports were read, from the one filed in April 2003 to the one filed in March 2026, and the date on the face of that table does not stand still.
- Filed 2003 and 2009No Armani Exchange row — Emporio Armani watches only
- Filed 27 February 2013Armani Exchange appears; expiry 31 December 2013
- Filed 2019 and 2023Expiry 31 December 2023
- Filed 13 March 2024Expiry 31 December 2026
- Filed 12 March 2026Expiry 31 December 2027
Read the dates as printed. The filings give no reason for any of the moves.
A ten-year extension through 2023 was announced on 12 August 2014. That release dates the partnership to 1997 — a date belonging to Emporio Armani, not to Armani Exchange, which is absent from the table until 2013.
Fossil India Private Limited
The company named on the Indian declaration is the licensee’s own. Fossil India Private Limited, CIN U18101KA2007PTC071705, was incorporated at Bangalore on 31 August 2007, keeps its registered office on Cubbon Road, Bengaluru, and is active.
Two documents corroborate each other. Fossil Group’s subsidiary list names “Fossil India Private Ltd.” as at 3 January 2026, and the same annual report states: “We have some limited watch assembly operations through an owned facility in India.” The declaration names that company on 10 of 40 records. The filing and the shelf agree.
A register mirror gives it revenue of ₹928.12 crore for the year to March 2025 and 511 employees; a second gives only a band of ₹750 crore to ₹1,000 crore, and neither publishes a profit.
In India, Armani Exchange watches come through Fossil’s licence and the clothes through Reliance Brands — two companies, one name over the door.
What Armani Exchange costs in India
The hundred listings read on 15 September 2026 charged 89.1% of MRP, with 35 reduced and a median of ₹13,997 — a shallow discount for the shelf it sits on. Read the same day, Diesel charged 48.4% and Tommy Hilfiger 62.0%.
The brand’s own shop sits above that: ₹17,995 for the AX1731 and ₹19,995 for the AX7148SET, both marked “Price inclusive of all taxes”. Two channels, one day, a few thousand rupees apart — arithmetic, not a judgement about which price is right.
What duty does and does not explain
These goods are imported: China is declared on 28 of the 40 records and “China, India” on 10 more. So duty is live here, and the rate is not the clothing rate. On the wrist-watch tariff lines 9102 11 00 and 9102 19 00, basic customs duty reads 20% of assessable value, with a social welfare surcharge of 10% of that duty and 18% IGST on top; on the second line that computes to a total incidence of 43.96%. Those figures come from a commercial tariff mirror read on 15 September 2026 rather than the customs notification, so treat 20% as the working figure.
Handbags read 15%, and woven apparel a rate set as 20% or a fixed sum per piece, whichever is higher. Watches are a third answer, so a duty number carried across from a shirt is the wrong one.
Duty is charged on landed value, a fraction of MRP, not on what you pay at the till, and no Indian landed cost for these watches is published. Nothing here says customs explains ₹17,995.
What the claims stand on
The Indian product pages read do not publish a standard, certification, test house or movement specification for the Armani Exchange watches — no water-resistance rating, calibre or case material is shown.
The brand’s own product pages are where a buyer would look first. Both watch pages carry a title, a price and the tax line; the blocks headed “Details & Special Features” and “Additional Details” show nothing.
| Read on 40 records, 15 September 2026 | Count, of 40 |
|---|---|
| Composition declared | 0 |
| Net quantity declared | 2 |
| Manufacturer or importer line blank | 2 |
| Fossil India Private Limited named as manufacturer | 10 |
| Distinct manufacturer or importer strings | 19 |
| Country of origin declared as China | 28 |
| Truenet Commerce as seller of record | 33 |
On the forty records, the manufacturer or importer line was filled on 38; the material the watch is made of was not stated on any.
What stands behind these watches is not nothing, though. Fossil Group, listed on the NASDAQ, states in a filed annual report that it holds a worldwide exclusive licence to make and sell Armani Exchange watches to 31 December 2027, and that it runs an owned watch-assembly facility in India. The licensor names Fossil in its own report. That is a chain of responsibility a buyer can follow end to end; the product pages read do not add a published specification to it.
Authentication: clothes and watches
For the clothes, the brand publishes a real method and names it. The A|X India authenticity page says that from the Fall Winter 2018-2019 season, garments carry a Certilogo identification code, entered at certilogo.com/code — in eight languages, and before or after purchase, including for products bought online.
For a watch, the authenticity page read on 15 September 2026 does not describe a method. It covers apparel and dates the code from that season; it does not mention watches, holograms, serial numbers or authorised sellers, and neither watch page on the brand’s shop carries authentication text. Buying from the brand’s own shop or stores is the straightforward route.
No watch page on the brand’s Indian shop prints a movement, a water-resistance rating or a case material. Before paying ₹17,995, ask the counter for the guarantee card and read it there.
Who owns the name above the shelf
Giorgio Armani S.p.A. is privately held, and what it publishes about itself became unusually specific in 2025. The founder’s dates, as printed in the group’s own report, are 11 July 1934 to 4 September 2025.
The same report sets out the ownership in the company’s own words. Following the publication of the founder’s will on 11 September 2025, the Giorgio Armani Foundation, created in 2016, holds full and bare ownership of 100% of the shares, and “shall never hold less than 30% of the capital”. On 16 October 2025 the board announced Giuseppe Marsocci as chief executive.
The group reports revenue of €2,297 million in 2024 against €2,445 million in 2023, with 9,100 employees at the end of 2024. A separate published figure gives $2.4 billion for 2022 — a different source and a different year, printed as published and not converted.
Record and reputation
Three Indian trade-mark suits brought by Giorgio Armani S.p.A. have been decided in the brand owner’s favour.
In CS (COMM) 208/2018 the Delhi High Court decreed the suit on 25 July 2018: an injunction against use of ARMANI and GIORGIO ARMANI, ₹1 lakh in damages, ₹50,000 in costs and a further decree of ₹1.5 lakh. In CS (COMM) 213/2018 the same court passed a final decree for permanent injunction on 3 October 2018; the marks in that plaint included AX and Armani Exchange, and damages were not pressed.
In CS (COMM.)/476/2019 the Commercial Court at Patiala House decreed the suit on 27 May 2024 — injunction, delivery up of the goods, ₹1,00,000 in exemplary damages and costs.
These are decided injunctions in favour of the brand owner, in 2018 and 2024. No marketplace was a party to any of them.
Who Armani Exchange is actually for
On the marketplace you are buying a fashion watch at a median ₹13,997, made under licence by Fossil, with the Armani Exchange name on the dial. If the name and the look are the point, that is a fair trade at the money.
It suits less well a buyer choosing on water resistance, calibre or case material: those are not printed on the pages read, so compare against brands on the watch shelf that publish a full specification, or ask at the counter.

Common questions
Who owns Armani Exchange?
Giorgio Armani S.p.A., a privately held Italian company, owns the brand, and A|X Armani Exchange is one of its three collections. Since the founder’s will was published on 11 September 2025, the Giorgio Armani Foundation holds 100% of the company’s shares and may never hold less than 30% of the capital.
Are Armani Exchange watches made by Armani?
No. Fossil Group, Inc. holds a worldwide exclusive licence to manufacture, distribute and sell Armani Exchange watches, expiring 31 December 2027 and subject to early termination in certain circumstances. The Armani group names Fossil as its watch licensee in its own report, and Fossil India Private Limited is the manufacturer named on 10 of 40 Indian records read on 15 September 2026.
Is Armani Exchange clothing sold in India?
Yes, through armaniexchange.in and 32 A|X stores listed on the brand’s locator. The terms on that site name Reliance Brands Limited as the company that operates it and sells through it. On the marketplace, though, 98 of the 100 listings read were watches rather than clothes.
How do I check an Armani Exchange product is genuine?
For apparel, the brand publishes a Certilogo code on garments from the Fall Winter 2018-2019 season, which you enter at certilogo.com/code before or after buying. For a watch, the authenticity page does not describe a hologram, serial check or list of authorised sellers, so buying from the brand’s own shop or stores is the simplest route.
What do Armani Exchange watches cost in India?
The median marketplace listing was ₹13,997 on 15 September 2026, at 89.1% of MRP with 35 of 100 listings reduced. On the brand’s own Indian shop the same day, two watches were priced at ₹17,995 and ₹19,995, both stated as inclusive of all taxes.

The best thing about Armani Exchange in India is how much of it you can read for yourself. The licensor names Fossil as its watch licensee; its filed annual report gives the licence as worldwide and exclusive to 31 December 2027 and names an owned watch-assembly facility here; and the Indian declaration names Fossil India Private Limited on 10 of 40 records.
What that chain does not give you is the product. At a median ₹13,997 on the marketplace and ₹17,995 on the brand’s own shop, the pages read print no movement, water-resistance rating or case material for the watch, and composition was declared on none of forty records. The clothing carries a Certilogo code a buyer can check.
A fair buy for the name and the look at around ₹14,000; if you need specifications, get them on the guarantee card before you pay.
