How it started
Tilbury spent more than twenty years as a make-up artist before putting her own name on a box. The range launched in the United Kingdom in September 2013 and did well enough, fast enough, that a European family house came shopping seven years later.
Puig announced in June 2020 that it would acquire a majority stake alongside the founder, who would roll over what its release called a significant minority. No percentage and no price appeared in that release, and none has appeared since. Any 2020 valuation in circulation is an estimate rather than a published figure.

- Puig takes a majorityJune 2020, percentage and price never published
- Partnership extendedDecember 2024, with options exercisable 2026 to 2031
- Puig at 85%April 2026, €260 million for 6.5 points
The only hard percentage on the record is the 2026 one, and it comes from Puig’s own half-year results rather than from a press report.
Puig’s results give its own holding, 85%, and do not break down the remaining 15% between the founder and the other minority investors.
Indian prices sit close to the American list, and below it on the complexion products once GST comes out.
What they actually make
Complexion, first. Airbrush Flawless Foundation, Hollywood Flawless Filter, the Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer and the Magic Cream skincare line carry the business. Puig’s FY2025 results call the brand the largest contributor to a Makeup segment that turned over €844.8 million, and place it first in prestige make-up in the United Kingdom and third in the United States.
Those rankings sit in a results release to a listed market. The product pages carry their own claims. The foundation page claims up to 24-hour wear, 24-hour hydration and that nine out of ten people would switch to it; the page does not publish a panel size, study length or laboratory beside them. The Flawless Filter page claims the number one highlighter position in the United States prestige market and names no data provider and no period.
That is a description of what the pages carry, not a verdict on the products. Some other houses on the same counter print panel sizes beside their numbers.
What Charlotte Tilbury costs in India
Six products with a like-for-like American price, converted at ₹95.38 to the dollar, the Federal Reserve rate for 28 August 2026.
| Product | India MRP | US list, converted |
|---|---|---|
| Airbrush Flawless Foundation, 30 ml | ₹5,100 | $52, about ₹4,960 |
| Hollywood Flawless Filter, 30 ml | ₹5,100 | $50, about ₹4,769 |
| Matte Revolution Lipstick | ₹3,650 | $37, about ₹3,529 |
| Airbrush Flawless Blur Concealer | ₹3,800 | $36, about ₹3,434 |
| The Lip Cheat | ₹2,600 | $28, about ₹2,670 |
| Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint | ₹5,250 | $48, about ₹4,578 |

The band across those six runs from 3% cheaper here to 15% dearer, clustering just above parity. Now strip the tax. Indian MRPs include 18% GST and American shelf prices exclude sales tax; take the GST out and the four complexion heroes land 6% to 13% below their US list. The visible Indian premium is, on this sample, mostly the tax.
That is a good result for a buyer. The foundation is ₹5,100 for 30 ml, which is ₹170 per millilitre. For much of the range the sum is harder, because the Indian listings read print shade counts rather than net quantities.
The Indian listings read for this brand did not display an importer or a country of origin. Check the pack on delivery, and buy through the authorised channel.
Who Charlotte Tilbury is actually for
Someone paying for finish. The complexion products are competitively priced against their home market once GST is stripped out, and the ranking Puig reports to investors is not a small claim. If you want the Flawless Filter, India is not overcharging you for it.
A buyer who chooses on label detail will find less on the listing. The same MRP-against-real-price question this site puts to Bata and Metro can be answered from a printed declaration; here the listing shows the price and shade.
Reputation and controversies
On animal testing the brand makes the most specific statement of any house on this counter. It says it does not and has never tested products or ingredients on animals, and does not ask or commission anyone to do so on its behalf. There is no “except where required by law” escape clause, which is the clause most of its competitors carry.
It goes further and explains the hard case. It says it sells in China under the imported-cosmetics route that permits sale without animal testing where criteria are met, and that it keeps SPF products out of that market because those still attract local testing mandates. It also says it once held Leaping Bunny certification and stopped using the logo when that logo was retired in the United Kingdom, and that this concerns the logo rather than its standards.
PETA’s directory lists it under “may not be cruelty-free”, on the ground that the company has not signed PETA’s statement of assurance. The brand’s statement and PETA’s listing are different kinds of record. This audit draws no conclusion from the pair — a statement is not a certification, and a missing entry is not a finding of testing. Animal testing of cosmetics has been unlawful in India since 21 May 2014 in any event.
On the advertising and legal record: India’s advertising regulator was searched under “Tilbury” on 2 September 2026, over a range held open from 2000, and holds nothing. Indian case law was searched the same day under Charlotte Tilbury, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty and Puig, and holds no decided outcome involving the company. That is what the record contains on those dates and under those terms.
Buying it in India
As at 2 September 2026, the authorised Indian route ran through one retailer.
- 2020India entry, exclusively with Nykaa, online first
- 2025An India bridal campaign, run through Nykaa’s platforms
- April 2026First Indian boutique, Nexus Select Citywalk, Delhi, operated by Nykaa
- 2026110 products listed on Nykaa Luxe; nothing on Sephora India or Tira
A second boutique was announced for Mall of India, Noida, in May 2026.
Even the flagship is Nykaa’s. The retailer runs the store end to end — staffing, training, merchandising, supply chain and marketing — an arrangement worth knowing about.
Stay inside the one authorised channel
Nykaa online, Nykaa Luxe stores and the Nykaa-operated boutiques were the authorised Indian route as at 2 September 2026.
Compare against the authorised price
The 30 ml foundation was ₹5,100 on Nykaa on 2 September 2026. Compare any other price with the authorised channel before paying.
Ask for the pack size
The Indian listings print shade counts, not millilitres. The foundation is 30 ml at ₹5,100, or ₹170 per ml. Get the size before you compare anything with anything.
Do not trust a shade number across sites
The brand’s own page counts 17 shades of Airbrush Flawless Foundation; the Indian listing advertises 30. Different channels are counting different things, so open the selector.
Beware the “from” price
Magic Cream shows one Indian price across four sizes and the setting spray across three. Comparing those against a single American size produces a discount that is not real.
An Indian brand such as Campus prints a manufacturer and a pack weight on its listings; for this brand, the pack in your hand is where to look for those details.
Common questions
Does Charlotte Tilbury still own her brand?
No. Puig has held control since 2020 and reached 85% in April 2026, paying €260 million for 6.5 percentage points. She holds an undisclosed minority and remains President, Chairman, Chief Creative Officer and Founder. Call and put options over the remaining shares are exercisable 2026 to 2031.
What did Puig pay for Charlotte Tilbury?
For the 2020 majority stake, nothing was published — no percentage and no price. The only figure Puig has disclosed is €260 million for the 6.5-point tranche in April 2026. Any 2020 valuation in circulation is an estimate.
Where can I buy Charlotte Tilbury in India?
Through Nykaa, its authorised retailer, as at 2 September 2026. Tira listed nothing that day, and the brand’s own site has no Indian storefront. The Delhi boutique that opened on 9 April 2026 is operated by Nykaa.
Is Charlotte Tilbury cruelty-free?
The brand states it has never tested on animals or asked anyone to do so on its behalf, with no legal-requirement exception, and explains its China position in detail. It is not listed in PETA’s database, which places it under “may not be cruelty-free” for not signing PETA’s assurance. A statement is not a certification.
Is it cheaper to buy Charlotte Tilbury in India?
Roughly at parity, on 2 September 2026. Six products ranged from 3% cheaper to 15% dearer than the American list on 2 September 2026. Strip the 18% GST out of the Indian price and the complexion heroes come in 6% to 13% below it.
Who imports Charlotte Tilbury into India?
The Indian listings read do not name an importer, so this audit names none. Check the pack for the importer’s details.

On price, India is treated fairly. Six products landing between 3% cheaper and 15% dearer than the American list, and 6% to 13% cheaper once GST comes out, is better than most imported prestige make-up manages here. The complexion products are the reason to buy, and ₹5,100 for 30 ml is not a rupee premium worth resenting.
Two things are worth weighing. The product pages claim 24-hour wear, 24-hour hydration and a number one ranking, and publish no study or data source beside them. And the Indian listings read did not display an importer or origin, so check the pack when it arrives.
Worth buying for the complexion range at near-US prices — buy it from Nykaa, the authorised channel, and judge the wear claims on your own skin.
