Garmin Ltd is incorporated in Switzerland, listed in New York as GRMN, and it owns the factories its watches come out of.
In India almost none of that is the company a buyer deals with. Ask for garmin.co.in on 24 September 2026 and the server redirects to garmin-india.com, whose footer reads “Copyright © AMIT International Group FZE” under a badge saying “Garmin Authorised Distributor”.
Garmin Ltd’s own list of subsidiaries names two Indian companies. Neither appears anywhere in the chain that sells, imports or services a Garmin watch here — and where you buy decides whether it can be repaired.
Garmin’s Indian site is a distributor’s: the footer names AMIT International Group FZE, the Terms of Use name AMIT GPS AND NAVIGATION LLP of Jasola, New Delhi, and Amazon.in names that firm as importer and packer. Garmin’s two Indian subsidiaries appear nowhere in that chain. Prices read 24 September 2026: Forerunner 970 ₹92,990 against $749.99, fēnix 8 ₹1,48,990 against $1,099.99. The ECG app holds a US clearance and an EU classification, and India is not on Garmin’s region list.

Who actually sells and services Garmin in India
Both Indian doors lead to the same place. garmin.co.in answered 302 Found on 24 September 2026 with a location of garmin-india.com, and garmin.com/en-IN/ ends on the same site, titled “Garmin | India | Home”. Garmin’s global site publishes no Indian product pages: the Forerunner 970 on the Indian path returned “Garmin | ERROR 404” that day, while the same product number on the American path served a full page with a price.
Three documents on that site name three things. The footer and privacy notice carry “Copyright © AMIT International Group FZE”. The Terms of Use name the legal entity as “AMIT GPS AND NAVIGATION LLP” at an address in Jasola, New Delhi, and put disputes under “the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi only”. The Amazon.in listing for the fēnix 8 names “AMIT GPS & NAVIGATION LLP” as importer and packer. Nothing read describes a licence, a franchise or any shareholding between Garmin Ltd and either name, so this page calls the arrangement what the site calls it: an authorised distributor.

Four published documents, one company standing between Garmin and an Indian buyer.
Against that, Garmin Ltd’s own Exhibit 21.1, filed with its annual report as of 27 December 2025, names 104 subsidiaries and two are Indian: Garmin India Private Limited and Garmin Technologies Private Limited. The first carries CIN U72300DL2008PTC176769 and the status “Active”, with paid-up capital of ₹47.66 lakh and data processing as its activity code. The second, formerly Navionics Technologies Private Limited, sits with the Hyderabad registrar and is also “Active”. Nothing read names either as seller, importer, packer or warranty provider here. Two register mirrors disagree about Garmin India’s office address and its last annual meeting, so both readings stay.
What Garmin costs in India
The prices below are printed as each seller printed them on 24 September 2026, with no conversion and no gap worked between them. Neither page states a tax basis, and the part numbers differ in their last two digits.

Watch tiers on this site run from Budget under ₹3,000 to Luxury above ₹1,00,000. On those prices Garmin sits in Premium — and the top of the range sits above that band, because the fēnix 8 at ₹1,48,990 is a Luxury-band watch by this site’s own definition while the Forerunner 970 at ₹92,990 is not. The tag describes where most of the line sits, not the flagship. A Forerunner 55 showed a sale price of ₹17,690 against ₹25,099 on the same store the same day.
What the Indian pages leave off matters as much as the price. Both product pages, on 24 September 2026, showed no country-of-origin line, no “inclusive of all taxes” wording, no importer, no packer and no customer-care line beside the price. The Amazon.in listing names an importer and packer — the same distributor firm — and still prints no country of origin and no tax declaration.
The ECG app, and what Garmin publishes about India
This is the one place in the category where a regulator’s decision sits on the public record in the maker’s own words, so it is set out exactly and no further. Garmin announced a clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration on 24 January 2023, describing an “FDA-cleared app for the Venu 2 Plus smartwatch that allows users to record their heart rhythm and check for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib)”. A release of 15 January 2025 described the app as a “Class IIa medical device under the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) (EU) 2017/745”. Garmin publishes a formal Instructions for Use with a version history from January 2023 to July 2025. India is named in neither release.
Garmin also publishes a region list for the app. As read on 24 September 2026 it names eleven Asian regions — Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam — and India is not among them. The page Garmin serves on its Indian path for that feature is titled “ECG App | Health Science | Garmin Singapore”, and every link on it, the availability list and the Instructions for Use included, points at Singapore addresses. Garmin’s standing sentence beside the claim is “The ECG app is not available in all regions.”
That is the whole of what the documents say, and this audit says no more. The checkable point is narrow: the list Garmin’s Indian pages send a reader to does not name India.
What the Indian product pages claim, and where the footnote sits
The Forerunner 970’s Indian page advertises a long run of body measurements in Garmin’s own words — “BODY BATTERY™ ENERGY MONITORING”, “SLEEP COACH”, “HRV STATUS”, “SKIN TEMPERATURE”, “PULSE OX SENSOR” and “HEALTH SNAPSHOT — Log a 2-minute session to record key health stats, then generate a report to share with your healthcare provider”. This page prints those claims and says nothing about what any watch measures.
What it can report is where the qualification sits, and there the answer is nowhere. Superscript markers are printed beside the claims — after “rest”, after “sleep quality”, after “skin temperature”, after “asleep” — and the footnote text they point to appears nowhere on the page. Searching it for “medical” and for “diagnos” showed no match. The sharpest comparison is within one brand: Garmin’s American page for the fēnix 8 names the “ECG app” among its premium features, and the Indian page for the same part number does not name ECG at all, heading that section “24/7 HEALTH AND WELLNESS FEATURES” without itemising sensors.
On the medical-devices regulator there is nothing to report either way. India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization published a list of approved devices carrying no rows for any company at all on 24 September 2026, so the list shows nothing for Garmin and nothing for any other company. That is a gap in what is published, not a finding about any product.
Warranty, service, and why where you buy it matters
Garmin’s Indian warranty runs “one year from the date of purchase” and covers repair or replacement of “any components that fail in normal use”, at Garmin’s option, “using new parts or previously used parts” or by swapping in “a new Product or a refurbished Product”. Indian warranty service goes to two Delhi telephone numbers and an e-mail address at amitintl.com — the distributor’s domain, not Garmin’s.
Two clauses decide more than the specification sheet does. The first covers a watch bought abroad: “Products purchased anywhere outside India, must be returned to the Garmin service center in the respective purchase country, for service.” The second banners every page of the Indian store.
Garmin products purchased from websites other than authorized sellers (Garmin India, Amazon, Flipkart, Just In Time, Helios, 1970 Store, Athelin, and Decathlon) are not eligible for warranty or service support in India.
Read together, the rule is simple: a watch bought on a trip is serviceable where it was bought, and a watch bought here from a seller outside that list of eight is, in Garmin India’s own published words, outside warranty support. Two pages that should carry service-centre addresses published none on 24 September 2026.
Where Garmin watches are made, and what the standards register carries
Garmin’s annual report is direct about manufacturing: one of its core competencies, it says, is “its vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities at its facilities in Taiwan, the U.S., the Netherlands, the U.K., Poland, and China.” India is not among those countries, and the filing’s only mention of India is a satellite system, NavIC.
The Bureau of Indian Standards register answers from the Indian side. A brand search for “GARMIN” on 24 September 2026 showed “Showing 1 to 27 of 27 entries”, and the smart-watch registrations among them stand in Garmin Corporation’s own name at four Taiwanese plants.

A registration is granted per factory and per model scope, so no row tells a buyer that a particular watch in a shop is covered. What can be said is that a filing claiming ownership of the factories and an Indian register naming those same factories agree. What a buyer cannot do is match the two: no registration number appeared on the Indian page for the fēnix 8, and the Amazon.in listing for it prints an “External Testing Certification” of “ANATEL: 07832-24-03330” — a Brazilian number — and no Indian one.
No Indian page or listing read on 24 September 2026 printed a country of origin for a Garmin watch. That block is on the box, so turn it over in the shop before you pay.
The marketplace shelf is not the watch
The marketplace shelf carries 18 listings under the Garmin brand facet, read on 24 September 2026, and all 18 are T-shirts. No Garmin watch sits on that shelf, so no price, no seller and no origin declaration on this page is taken from it, and no price band here rests on it. Another brand read on the same shelf the same day returned its full catalogue, so the shelf itself was working.
The owner’s numbers
Garmin reports by segment, and watches sit in two of them. The annual report defines Fitness as products “designed for use in health, wellness, and fitness activities” and Outdoor as products “designed for use in outdoor activities”: running watches in the first, adventure watches in the second. Neither line is the watch business, so anyone quoting one alone is quoting half.

Those figures carry their period, because they are not the most recent Garmin has published: for the quarter ended 27 June 2026 it reported Fitness at $756,823 thousand and Outdoor at $482,740 thousand. There is no Indian revenue line in any of it, so nothing here says how large the Indian business is.
The advertising record
A search of the advertising council’s complaint-outcome, non-contested and direct-violation registers on 24 September 2026, under “Garmin”, showed no matter naming any Garmin company. A search run the same day for a company with a known record did return rows, so the nil result is a reading rather than a failed query. The council is a self-regulatory industry body rather than a statutory regulator, and nobody has ruled on any Garmin advertisement in India.
The court record
Searches on the Indian judgments database on 24 September 2026 for “Garmin International”, “Garmin Corporation” and “Garmin India Private Limited” showed no matching results at all. A bare search for “Garmin” showed 214 results, almost all regional rural banks whose names the database renders as “Garmin Bank”, a rendering of Gramin. None names a Garmin entity.
The nil result counts because the database answers when there is something to answer: run the same way against Titan Company Limited, audited separately here, it showed 672 results the same day. So no decided Indian matter naming a Garmin company was found, on those terms, on that date, and nobody has ruled on anything in this audit. The Indian trade-mark register asks for a one-time password before it will show a search, so this page names no proprietor of the GARMIN mark.

Garmin answers two questions this site usually cannot. Its filing says it owns its factories and names the countries, and the Indian standards register names those same Taiwanese plants under the GARMIN brand for smart watches. Its Indian store also does what most brands avoid: it prints on every page the eight sellers it will honour a warranty from.
The rest is thinner than a ₹1,48,990 price deserves. Garmin’s own two Indian companies are nowhere in the buying, importing or servicing chain. The product pages carry superscript markers with no footnote text at the other end, and searching them for “medical” showed nothing. No country of origin, no tax declaration and no customer-care line appeared beside either price on 24 September 2026, and neither page that should carry service-centre addresses published any. Two Delhi phone numbers and a distributor’s e-mail address are the whole published after-sales route.
Buy it from one of the eight named sellers or accept that you own a watch nobody here has promised to repair.
