Skmei is a low-cost watch brand from Guangdong, China, best known for chunky digital sports watches and kids’ watches. In India it sells online on marketplaces such as Myntra and Amazon, usually for ₹600 to ₹2,500.
Two things make it worth a closer look. Its Indian listings say “made in India”, and the price of a Skmei varies a lot depending on where you look. Across the 29 Skmei products we track, the typical watch sold for ₹2,110, while similar models on Myntra sold for under ₹1,200.
Skmei is a genuine Chinese watch brand, and at ₹600 to ₹1,200 a digital Skmei is a fair, cheap sports watch. Above about ₹2,000 it stops making sense, because a Sonata or Fastrack costs about the same with a stronger Indian service network. Its MRPs mean little: the median discount was 65%. Its Myntra listings say made in India at a Surat address, so read the box.

How it started
According to its published brand profile, Skmei grew out of a watch-making business in Guangdong. The brand was created in 2009 and the company was set up in 2010. It also makes watches for other brands, and it says it sells in more than 160 countries, mainly through online marketplaces.
These figures come from the company’s own trade profile, not from audited filings, so treat them as its own claims. Sources also disagree on whether it is based in Zhaoqing or Guangzhou; both are in Guangdong.
What they actually make
Skmei sells digital and analogue watches, with a heavy focus on sports models and kids’ watches. Its pitch is lots of features, such as stopwatches and alarms, at a low price.
Myntra listings we read on 30 October 2026 give India as the country of origin and a Surat address, though the brand says most of its output is made in China. Check the box; the label on your watch is what counts.
Three Skmei watches on Myntra that day named the maker as “Skmei Watch Co. Ltd” at Ramji Industrial Estate, Navagam, Kamrej, Surat, Gujarat, and the seller as Skmei India Private Limited. We could not match that seller to a record in the company register, so this page only reports what the listing says.

Compare that with what Skmei charges on Myntra, where it sells directly. The same day, digital models with MRPs of ₹2,399 to ₹3,199 sold for ₹615, ₹786 and ₹1,149.
The same kind of Skmei can cost ₹700 or ₹2,100, so the shop you pick matters more than the model.
Typical selling price after each name. FashionAudit listings: Skmei 29, Fastrack 42, Sonata 49, Casio 49.
At ₹2,110 on our listings, a typical Skmei costs more than a typical Sonata at ₹1,444, and about the same as Fastrack at ₹1,948. A Casio digital watch costs more, but it sells at its MRP and has a long record.
Who Skmei is actually for
Skmei suits someone who wants a cheap digital sports watch or a first watch for a child, and who is happy to replace it if it fails. At ₹600 to ₹1,200, it is a low-risk buy.
It makes little sense at ₹2,000 or more, where Indian-backed brands with service centres are available. It is also a poor choice if water resistance matters to you, because no independent test we found confirms the ratings printed on listings.

Reputation and controversies
Skmei is a mass-market brand with a large online presence and little independent reporting behind it. The company’s claims about scale and trademarks come from its own promotional profile.
The open question for Indian buyers is the listing itself. Nothing we could read explains how a brand that says most of its output is made in China comes to list these models as made in India. The practical answer is to check the box when it arrives, and return the watch if the label does not match.
Buying it in India
Compare at least two apps
Skmei prices vary widely. Check Myntra and Amazon for the same model number before you pay.
Use the model number
Skmei watches carry a four-digit code, such as 1412. Search for it, since names change between listings.
Set a ceiling
For a digital Skmei, ₹600 to ₹1,200 is the fair range. Above ₹2,000, look at Sonata, Fastrack or Casio first.
Read the back and the box
Check the country of origin and importer on the box against the listing. Return it if they do not match.
Do not trust depth ratings
Treat any water-resistance number as a claim. Avoid swimming with a low-cost watch unless you accept the risk.
You can compare current Skmei prices on our Skmei shop page.

Skmei is a real Chinese brand, and at ₹600 to ₹1,200 a digital Skmei is a cheap, fun watch you will not cry over if it dies.
Past ₹2,000 the sums change, because Indian-backed brands cost the same. Its made-in-India listings and depth ratings are claims nobody independent has confirmed, and the MRP, at a median 65% above the real price, means very little.
Buy a Skmei only at under ₹1,200, and treat every higher price as a reason to look at a Sonata instead.
