Tokyo Talkies is a women’s fast-fashion label selling jeans, trousers, cargo pants, track pants, jackets and tops, mostly for under ₹1,000. Despite the name, it has no link to Japan that we could find: it is owned by Brand Studio Lifestyle of Bengaluru.
It is the sister label of Highlander, and the two together bring in most of the company’s revenue. Across the 21 Tokyo Talkies products we track, the typical piece sold for ₹626.
Tokyo Talkies is an Indian brand, not a Japanese one, owned by Brand Studio Lifestyle of Bengaluru and listed as made in India. At a typical ₹626 it is cheap, current women’s casual wear. The MRP means little, with a median 66% discount. Buy it for trend pieces such as wide-leg jeans at about ₹700, and do not pay extra for a Japanese-sounding name.

How it started
Tokyo Talkies belongs to Brand Studio Lifestyle, a Bengaluru company incorporated in 2014. By 2020 the company owned eight labels, with Tokyo Talkies among them, and it sold mainly online.
A programme with Myntra helped drive that growth. Acuité, a rating agency, credited the company’s rise mainly to a brand accelerator agreement with Myntra, and India Ratings later recorded that the programme ended after March 2023. Tokyo Talkies is not a Myntra label, even though Myntra is one of its biggest shops.
Together, Tokyo Talkies and Highlander made up 65% of the company’s ₹1,300 crore net revenue in FY24. The two brands went into shops in 2024 and had 40 stores by September 2025, with UAE stores opened through a partner.
What they actually make
Tokyo Talkies is mostly casual western wear for women: wide-leg jeans, trousers, cargo pants and track pants lead our list, along with jackets, pullovers and a few kurtas. The company runs at fast-fashion speed, with more than 800 new styles a month across the two brands in 2025, made through about 200 vendor partners.
On 30 October 2026, three Tokyo Talkies pieces we checked on Myntra listed India as the country of origin and named Brand Studio Lifestyle, Marasur village, Anekal taluk, near Bengaluru. Sellers on those listings were Vision Star and S & S Marketing, not the company itself.

Every listing sold at 50% or more below MRP.
The name suggests Tokyo, the label says Bengaluru, and the MRP says something else entirely.
Typical selling price after each name. FashionAudit listings: Highlander 41, DressBerry 23, Tokyo Talkies 21, Glitchez 87. Item mixes differ.
Tokyo Talkies’ typical price sits a little below Glitchez, a label from Myntra, and close to Roadster at ₹725. These are close rivals for the same young shopper, and comparing an actual pair of jeans across brands tells you more than the brand name does.
Who Tokyo Talkies is actually for
Tokyo Talkies suits young women who want the current cut of jeans, cargo pants or jackets for under ₹1,000, and who may wear them for a season or two.
It is the wrong choice for office formals or wardrobe staples you want to last for years. And if the Japanese-sounding name appealed to you, it is worth knowing there is nothing Japanese behind it.

Reputation and controversies
The main thing to weigh is the name. Nothing we read ties the brand to Japan, and its listings give a Bengaluru address. Choosing a foreign-sounding name is common in Indian fashion, and the country of origin line tells you where a piece comes from.
The company itself is private. Credit agencies give the clearest outside view: Acuité rated it BB+ in July 2020, and India Ratings affirmed IND BBB with a negative outlook in September 2023. Those are opinions on repaying debt, and they say nothing about the clothes.
Buying it in India
Check the maker line
Genuine listings name Brand Studio Lifestyle Pvt Ltd, Anekal, Bengaluru, with India as the country of origin.
Know the fair price
Most pieces sell for ₹400 to ₹1,000. Near the MRP, you are overpaying by a wide margin.
Check the fabric on jeans
Stretch content changes the fit a lot. Read the fabric line and customer photos before you choose a size.
Compare with Highlander stores
The two brands often share stores. If one is nearby, try your size there before you order online.

Common questions
Is Tokyo Talkies a Japanese brand?
No. Tokyo Talkies is owned by Brand Studio Lifestyle Private Limited of Bengaluru, and the pieces we checked listed India as the country of origin. We found no Japanese link beyond the name.
Who owns Tokyo Talkies?
Brand Studio Lifestyle Private Limited, incorporated in 2014 by Shyam Prasad, Anant Tanted and Rohit Jaiswal. The same company owns Highlander, Vishudh, Ketch and Locomotive.
Is Tokyo Talkies a Myntra brand?
No, though it sells heavily on Myntra. A Myntra company invested in the owner under a brand accelerator programme, which India Ratings recorded as ending after March 2023.
Is Tokyo Talkies good quality?
For about ₹600, it is fair value for trend pieces. It is fast fashion, so do not expect clothes that last for years. Check the fabric and read reviews of the exact item.
Why is Tokyo Talkies so cheap?
Its real prices are low and its MRPs are high. All 21 listings we checked sold at 50% or more below MRP, with a median discount of 66%.

Tokyo Talkies is an Indian fast-fashion label from Bengaluru, made in India, and at about ₹600 it is a cheap way to wear this season’s jeans or cargo pants.
Two things on the tag deserve scepticism: the Japanese-sounding name, which has nothing we could find behind it, and an MRP roughly three times the real price.
Buy Tokyo Talkies for the cut at ₹600, and leave the name and the MRP out of your decision.
