VKC Pride is a Kerala footwear brand, known for polyurethane and EVA slippers, sandals and floaters. Its authorised dealer catalogue runs from ₹159 to ₹409 at MRP, checked on 22 August 2026. That puts it at the very bottom of India’s organised footwear market. The odd part is the company behind it: no single business is called VKC Pride. The trademark, the selling company and the factory sit in three separate entities.
VKC Pride is an Indian brand run from Kozhikode, Kerala, and sold mostly through dealers; about 60% of group sales come from the South. Men’s models are listed at ₹179 to ₹409 and women’s at ₹159 to ₹309, with real selling prices near ₹250 to ₹350 as at 22 August 2026. It is no longer the same business as Walkaroo, which filed ₹2,244.68 crore for FY2025 against ₹986.51 crore for the VKC selling entity.

How it started
The name is older than the footwear. VKC comes from the initials of three men — V Mammed Koya, K Seithalavi and C Seithalikkutti — who ran a matchstick raw-material supply venture from 1967. That trade closed in 1984 when the market saturated and softwood ran short.
Koya and his brothers then moved into Hawai chappals at Nallalam, Kozhikode, with roughly ₹30 lakh and fewer than 20 employees. A 2015 interview dates the first chappals to 1985; the group’s own Udyam record gives 17 August 1984 as the date business commenced.
- 1967A matchstick supply trade, named for three partners’ initials
- 1984That business closes; Hawai chappal making begins at Nallalam
- 1996Veekesy Polymers, the oldest registered VKC company on record
- 2008The VKC PRIDE trademark is filed in Class 25
- 2011VKC Footprints Global, the PU footwear maker, is incorporated
The brand is decades younger than the founding date its group uses.
So “VKC Pride, founded 1984” is a group proprietorship date, not the brand’s and not any company’s.
What they actually make
The range is slippers, sandals and floaters in polyurethane, EVA, PVC and rubber, for men, women and children, plus some casual and formal shoes. The group calls itself India’s largest PU footwear manufacturer. No figure we could find backs that up, so treat it as a company claim.
Manufacturing is in-house, not licensed out. Before the family separation, CRISIL named nine plants for the division that made VKC Pride, from Kerala and Karnataka to Gujarat and Haryana.
Volume claims need care, because most describe a group that no longer exists in that form. VKC Razak, managing director of VKC Group, said in May 2024 that the VKC side makes three lakh pairs a day. The repeated 5.5 lakh figure is Forbes India’s, from February 2021, and covers the undivided group; CRISIL attributed about 5.4 lakh pairs a day to the Walkaroo group in May 2022.
The plant counts that circulate — over 20 units in eight states in February 2021, 24 units across seven states that November — describe the undivided family group, and several of those plants went with the other side.
Three companies, one brand name
Ask who made your slippers and you get three answers, all correct. The trademark owner is Veekesy Rubber Industries Private Limited of Kozhikode, which holds the registered VKC PRIDE mark in Class 25, filed on 25 June 2008. Its board carries the founder and both his sons.
The selling company is VKC Plastomers India Private Limited, which CRISIL described in 2021 as the sole trader of VKC brand products. It filed ₹986.51 crore for FY2025, up 28%. The brand’s contact page still uses Veekesy Plastomers, a former name for the same company.
The manufacturer CRISIL ties to the brand is VKC Footprints Global Private Limited, incorporated in October 2011 at Calicut. A 2019 rating rationale names it as the maker of the PU footwear sold as VKC Pride, VKC Stile, VKC Lite and VKC Junior.
Where Walkaroo went
Walkaroo and VKC Pride are constantly described as one company. They were, and then they were not, and the change shows up in a rating agency’s paperwork.
- February 2018VKC group, 21 entities, two divisions run by two brothers
- November 2019Division I still holds VKC Pride and makes Walkaroo shoes
- 6 May 2022Same firms rated as “Walkaroo group, set up by Mr V Noushad”
- July 2023More entities merge into Walkaroo; VKC Pride is never mentioned
From May 2022 the companies once rated alongside VKC Pride form a separate group, and VKC Footprints Global sits outside it.
These are sibling businesses now, not a brand and its sub-brand. V. Noushad runs Walkaroo International, which filed ₹2,244.68 crore for FY2025, more than twice the VKC selling entity. V. Abdul Razak runs VKC Group. The trade press had not caught up as late as April 2022.
Two brothers, two businesses, and the only thing they still visibly share is the company that holds the trademark.
No filing setting out the terms of the separation is on the public record; the evidence is the change in CRISIL’s consolidation perimeter between 2019 and 2022. Read the split as how these companies are now rated, not as a document saying the family divided the business.
What VKC Pride costs in India
The reliable price list is not a marketplace. It is the dealer catalogue of Saleem Traders, a Tamil Nadu wholesaler holding VKC’s own distributor awards, which prints article numbers and MRPs across 225 models.
| Line | Models listed | MRP band |
|---|---|---|
| VKC Pride Gents | 118 | ₹179 to ₹409 |
| VKC Pride Ladies | 107 | ₹159 to ₹309 |
| Typical transacted price | — | ₹250 to ₹350 |
Distributor catalogue and retail listings, all checked on 22 August 2026.
Retail prices agree with that band: ₹309 against a ₹319 MRP on ShopClues, ₹339 inclusive of taxes at an Andhra retailer, and ₹249 for a licensed kids’ line on AJIO. Nothing supports the ₹999 ceiling that circulates for this brand.
Why marketplace listings look dearer
A Flipkart listing from a third-party seller showed a comparable sandal at ₹480 against a stated MRP of ₹899. That MRP is more than double the top of the distributor catalogue, and the discount arithmetic on the page does not agree with itself.
- Top MRP, distributor catalogue
- ₹409
- MRP on a marketplace listing
- ₹899
- Gap
- +120%
- Checked on
- 22 August 2026
Treat marketplace MRPs here as seller-set anchors. There is no official price to check them against, because VKC Pride runs a catalogue site with no prices or checkout, and the group keeps e-commerce thin to protect its distributors.
Who VKC Pride is actually for
This is a household slipper brand and it is honest about that. The buyer wants a hard-wearing pair for the house, the shop floor, the temple run or the monsoon, at a price where losing one does not matter. Across much of South India it is simply the default.
Even the top of the range is cheap by Indian standards. Bata is a full-price retail chain that filed ₹3,489 crore consolidated for FY2025, against ₹2,790 crore for Relaxo, which owns Sparx — a sports and casual line priced several times higher.
Skip VKC Pride if you want a cushioned sneaker or a walking shoe, which is Sparx, Campus and Liberty territory. Skip it too if you want to buy online with a full size run.
Reputation and controversies
No litigation, regulatory action or consumer commission order against VKC Pride could be found on the public record as at 22 August 2026. We looked for trademark disputes, labour actions, regulatory penalties, environmental notices and factory incidents involving VKC and Veekesy, and nothing surfaced.
One adjacent fact is public record rather than controversy: the founder is a sitting CPI(M) politician, an MLA for Beypore and a former Mayor of Kozhikode.
Buying it in India
The brand publishes no hologram, QR code, serial number or authentication guidance, and no seizure or brand advisory about fake VKC Pride footwear has been reported. There are no physical tells to give you, and anyone offering one is guessing. Judge the channel and the price instead.
Buy where VKC actually sells
This is a wholesale business. Local dealers and the franchise “My VKC” stores, which started in Chennai in October 2023 and reached 12 outlets by November 2024, are the main channel.
Ignore the struck-through MRP
The authorised catalogue tops out at ₹409 for men and ₹309 for women. “50% off ₹899” is not a discount, it is a seller’s anchor on a ₹300 slipper.
Know the price floor
Real prices sit at ₹250 to ₹350, and the cheapest catalogue MRPs are ₹179 for men and ₹159 for women. A new men’s sandal well under ₹150 deserves a question.
Read the pack, not the page
No listing we found carries a complete declaration. In a shop, check the box for MRP inclusive of taxes, the manufacturer or packer address, and country of origin.
Common questions
Who owns VKC Pride?
It is family-owned, unlisted and run from Kozhikode in Kerala. The trademark is held by Veekesy Rubber Industries Private Limited, the brand is sold by VKC Plastomers India Private Limited, and the manufacturer CRISIL ties to it is VKC Footprints Global Private Limited.
Are VKC Pride and Walkaroo the same company?
Not any more. They were founded by the same family and sat in one rated group until at least 2019. Since May 2022 CRISIL has rated Walkaroo as the head of a separate group set up by V. Noushad, without VKC Pride’s manufacturer in it.
How much do VKC Pride slippers cost?
The authorised dealer catalogue lists men’s models at ₹179 to ₹409 and women’s at ₹159 to ₹309, checked on 22 August 2026. Real selling prices usually land between ₹250 and ₹350. Listings showing ₹899 MRPs are seller-set anchors.
Is VKC Pride made in India?
Yes. The group manufactures through its own companies in India, and a retail listing gives country of origin as India. It also exports to around 18 countries and has had operations in Sri Lanka, Sudan and Bangladesh.
Can I buy VKC Pride online?
Only through third-party sellers. The brand’s own website is a catalogue with no prices and no checkout, and the group has said it keeps e-commerce thin so it does not undercut distributors. Sizes and stock online are inconsistent.

On price this is the most honest brand we have audited. A ₹159 to ₹409 catalogue across 225 models, transacting at ₹250 to ₹350, is a low-margin product that does what it says. Nobody buying a ₹300 PU slipper is being overcharged, and refusing to chase online sales keeps dealer prices sane.
The corporate side is where it loses marks. Three companies hold the trademark, the sales and the manufacturing, and the separation that moved Walkaroo out from under the same roof is documented nowhere we could find. No current factory count, no post-split consolidated revenue, no retrievable Legal Metrology declaration. For a group filing close to ₹1,000 crore through one entity alone, that is thin.
Buy the slipper without worrying; do not believe anyone who claims to know how big VKC Pride is.
