Walkaroo is a Coimbatore footwear maker known for polyurethane and EVA slippers at ₹228 to ₹800, and for sports shoes up to ₹2,399. It filed sales of ₹2,244.68 crore in FY2025, which makes it the largest private mass-footwear company in India that publishes numbers. Most coverage still files it under “part of VKC Group”. That stopped being true in 2022, and the filings tell a sharper story than the press releases.
Walkaroo International Private Limited is family-owned, unlisted and larger than Paragon — ₹2,244.68 crore of filed sales in FY2025 against Paragon’s ₹1,659.24 crore, and about 80% the size of listed Relaxo. The slippers are honestly cheap and sold at MRP. The problem is disclosure: every turnover figure the company announces sits above the one it files.

How it started
V. Noushad is the elder son of VKC founder V. K. C. Mammed Koya. He told The Weekend Leader he borrowed ₹12 crore from his father and started Walkaroo in Coimbatore in 2012 with 500 employees. The registry dates incorporation to 25 October 2011; the trade press dated the brand’s arrival to 2013.
The split from the family business is documented only obliquely. From 6 May 2022 CRISIL rates a separate “Walkaroo group, set up by Mr V Noushad”, and the entity tied to VKC Pride sits outside that perimeter. No scheme of arrangement or MCA filing records how the businesses were divided. Both brothers’ companies claim to be India’s number one in PU footwear.
The bigger event is a merger. In May 2019 Noushad was quoted about Walkaroo under the title “U4ic Managing Director”, so the brand then ran out of another company. CRISIL combined seven entities into the Walkaroo group in May 2022 and only two by August 2023. Filed sales tripled in that window.
We could not obtain the merger instrument. No scheme of arrangement, NCLT order or appointed date for folding U4iC International and VKC Footwear International into Walkaroo International is on the public record, and the two CRISIL rationales of 21 July 2023 were not available to us on 22 August 2026. The merger is inferred from the shrinking rating perimeter and the revenue step, not from a filed document.
- FY2020₹475.3 crore — net profit ₹21.5 crore
- FY2021₹523.5 crore — operating margin 12.5%
- FY2022₹1,628.4 crore — operating margin 0.6%
- FY2024₹2,019.1 crore — net profit ₹63.1 crore, ROE 21.8%
- FY2025₹2,244.68 crore — profit not published
The merger tripled the top line and nearly erased the margin in the same year.

What the FY2022 jump cost
Revenue rose 3.1 times and profit fell off a cliff. Operating margin dropped from 12.5% to 0.6% in one year, and net profit from ₹33.1 crore in FY2021 to ₹5.3 crore in FY2022 — a net margin of 0.3%. FY2023 was barely better at 1.1%.
Those were the loudest years. Aamir Khan had fronted the brand since 2019 and appeared in a six-avatar film in October 2021; Ajay Devgn replaced him in October 2022; Varun Dhawan took over in August 2024. A director told afaqs the Khan switch followed a film’s box office — “the brand integration didn’t go as well as expected”. No advertising spend figure is published anywhere, so the cost cannot be stated.
Recovery came in FY2024: operating margin 6.0%, net profit ₹63.1 crore, return on equity 21.8%.
A brand signing Aamir Khan and then Ajay Devgn was, in those same two years, earning net margins of 0.3% and 1.1%.
What they actually make
Walkaroo makes PU, EVA and Hawai footwear — slippers, sandals, clogs, casual shoes and sports shoes, plus bags. The strongest evidence that it makes them itself sits on its own product pages. The Legal Metrology declaration on a ₹639 comfort sandal, read on 22 August 2026, states “Manufactured by: Walkaroo International Pvt Ltd, Plot No 10-12, SIDCO Industrial Estate, Malumichampatti, Coimbatore – 641050 India”, country of origin India.
That is a manufacturer’s declaration, not a “marketed by” line, and it carries the company’s own registered address. Walkaroo is reported to run twelve of its own units, and ₹449.42 crore of charges registered to Axis Bank, Standard Chartered, HDFC Bank and SBI is the borrowing profile of a firm financing plant. It is the opposite end of the trade from a retail-led chain such as Metro, which sells shoes rather than makes them.
Unit counts are messier. The company has claimed eight, twelve, fourteen and fifteen plants in different years, while CRISIL in August 2023 named facilities at Mysore, Kerala and Coimbatore plus units in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Capacity claims run from four to 5.4 lakh pairs a day, none audited.
What Walkaroo costs in India
Walkaroo runs two pricing models on one website. The core range — sliders, clogs, flip-flops and sandals, ₹228 to about ₹800 — sells at MRP, the compare-at price blank or identical on most of the 30 SKUs read on 22 August 2026.
Walkaroo Sportz behaves differently. Its shoes carry MRPs of ₹1,030 to ₹2,399 and sell at ₹899 to ₹1,399, a permanent 33% to 46% markdown. Set that against Sparx, whose feed the same day showed MRPs of ₹1,299 to ₹3,749 selling at ₹909 to ₹2,062.
| Range | MRP band | Actual selling price |
|---|---|---|
| Walkaroo core slippers, sandals, clogs | ₹228–₹800 | Mostly at MRP, no discount |
| Walkaroo Sportz shoes | ₹1,030–₹2,399 | ₹899–₹1,399 |
| Sparx (Relaxo) | ₹1,299–₹3,749 | ₹909–₹2,062 |
Brand storefronts, checked on 22 August 2026.
Sportz undercuts Sparx at both ends: ₹899 against ₹909 at the bottom, ₹1,399 against ₹2,062 at the top. Anyone calling Walkaroo a cheap slipper brand is describing half of it.

Who Walkaroo is actually for
The core buyer wants a second pair of house or errand slippers under ₹500 and would rather not think about it. At ₹228 to ₹800 with no discount theatre, that is a fair deal, priced about ₹70 above VKC Pride’s entry point.
The more interesting buyer wants a first pair of walking shoes near ₹1,000. Walkaroo Sportz was built for the gap between a ₹300 slipper and a ₹1,500 sneaker, and prices below Sparx at both ends.
Skip it if you want leather, formal construction or resale value; the range is moulded synthetic. Skip it too if you buy on reassurance — Bata, at ₹3,489 crore of consolidated FY2025 revenue, has more high-street stores and a returns process most people know.
Reputation and controversies
The recurring problem is arithmetic, not scandal. Every claimed turnover figure we could pair with a filing sat above it, and no reconciliation has been published.
| Year | Announced publicly | Filed with the MCA |
|---|---|---|
| FY2021 | ₹1,245 crore | ₹523.5 crore |
| FY2022 | ₹1,850 crore | ₹1,628.4 crore |
| FY2023 | ₹2,300 crore projected | ₹1,603.3 crore |
| FY2024 | ₹2,140 crore | ₹2,019.1 crore |
Be fair about which gap means what. The FY2021 gap of 2.4 times is perimeter: before the merger the brand sold through several companies, so ₹1,245 crore plausibly covers all of them while ₹523.5 crore is one. The FY2022 and FY2024 gaps are not, because by then the brand and the company were largely the same thing — and the announced figure still ran ₹120 crore to ₹220 crore ahead.
Headcount runs the same way. The company has described roughly 7,000 direct employees; EPFO records against its own CIN show 2,812 as at April 2024.
Nothing adverse surfaced across around 30 sources — no lawsuit, regulatory action or consumer commission order. That is not the same as a clean record. We did not check the court record itself, and no dedicated consumer, tax, labour or BIS search was run. Read this as “not found”, not “does not exist”.
Buying it in India
Walkaroo publishes no hologram, QR check, serial verification or authorised-seller list, so there is no authentication tell to look for. Channel and a price floor are what you have instead.
Read the Legal Metrology block
A genuine pair carries “Manufactured by: Walkaroo International Pvt Ltd, Malumichampatti, Coimbatore – 641050” and country of origin India. A missing manufacturer line is the one document-level signal you have.
Know the real price floor
Core slippers and sandals sell at MRP, ₹228 to ₹800, on the brand’s own site as at 22 August 2026. A ₹99 “Walkaroo” slipper is not a deal, it is another product.
Expect discounts only on Sportz
Sports shoes run 33% to 46% below MRP on walkaroo.in itself. Match that range elsewhere, and treat a steeper cut as a reason to check the seller.
A different label is not automatically a fake
Walkaroo Plus, Sportz, Urbanoz, ME&I, Blue Tyga and Strabo all sit on the company’s own storefront. Counterfeit incentive sits in the ₹1,299 to ₹2,399 sports band, not on ₹300 slippers.
Common questions
Is Walkaroo part of VKC Group?
Not since 2022. CRISIL has rated a separate “Walkaroo group, set up by Mr V Noushad” from 6 May 2022, and the entity tied to VKC Pride sits outside it. The businesses belong to two brothers, and no public filing shows how the split was done.
Who owns Walkaroo?
Walkaroo International Private Limited, an unlisted family company registered in Coimbatore in October 2011. V. Noushad has been Managing Director since incorporation. There is no listed parent and no foreign owner.
How much do Walkaroo slippers and shoes cost?
Core slippers, clogs and sandals run ₹228 to about ₹800 and sell at MRP. Sportz shoes carry MRPs of ₹1,030 to ₹2,399 and sell at ₹899 to ₹1,399, checked on walkaroo.in on 22 August 2026.
Is Walkaroo bigger than Relaxo or Paragon?
Bigger than Paragon, smaller than Relaxo. Walkaroo filed ₹2,244.68 crore for FY2025, against Paragon’s ₹1,659.24 crore combined and Relaxo’s ₹2,790 crore. Relaxo is listed and consolidated, so the comparison is close rather than exact.

The product is easy to recommend. Slippers and sandals at ₹228 to ₹800, sold at MRP by a company that names itself as manufacturer on its own box, is a straight deal. Walkaroo Sportz at ₹899 to ₹1,399 is the sharper buy, because it undercuts Sparx at both ends.
The company is harder to take at face value. It is the biggest private mass-footwear maker in India that files numbers, ahead of Paragon by ₹585 crore, yet it announces turnover ₹120 crore to ₹220 crore above what it files in years the merger does not explain. Plant counts and headcount move the same way.
