Action Shoes Brand Audit: What Happened to the School Shoe

Action Shoes was the school-shoe default of the 1990s. What the filings show now, why its MRPs run 59% to 89% above the real selling price, and who should still buy it.

Action is a Delhi footwear brand best known for school shoes, and for a jingle a generation of Indian children can still sing back. It sells boys’ and men’s sports shoes, formals, sandals and slippers, almost entirely through marketplaces and wholesale trade. On Flipkart on 22 August 2026 its shoes transacted between ₹242 and ₹1,489. The company carrying the brand’s own name filed ₹1,000 for FY2025 — one thousand rupees, not a missing zero.

The short answer

The trading sits in Action International Pvt Ltd, which filed ₹162.99 crore for FY2025, and Action Footwears Pvt Ltd at ₹34.1 crore for FY2024. The company actually named Action Shoes Private Limited filed ₹1,000 — one thousand rupees — with one EPFO employee. The shoes are cheap and the discounts permanent, but there is no working storefront and no published way to verify a pair.

How it started

Four founding dates are in circulation and no two agree. A group company’s site says the Action Group’s “first endeavour” was in 1972. Forbes, profiling Hari Krishan Agarwal in May 2022, says he founded the shoe brand in 1983.

The registry says something else. Action Shoes Private Limited was incorporated on 23 March 1984, under the name A P I Polymers (India) Private Limited. A trade listing at D-1 Udyog Nagar claims 1985. We print the spread rather than pick a winner.

The company that carries the name
  1. A P I Polymers (India) Pvt LtdIncorporated 23 March 1984, Udyog Nagar, Delhi
  2. Action Shoes Private LimitedRenamed on a date not on the public record
  3. FY2025: ₹1,000 of revenueOne thousand rupees, one employee, NIC 74 — not footwear

The company with the brand’s name on it is not the company that makes or sells the shoes.

Worth knowing

The ₹1,000 revenue line for Action Shoes Private Limited is what the corporate register carries; we have not seen the audited accounts behind it. Read it as a register entry rather than a checked figure — though one EPFO employee and a non-footwear activity code point the same way.

What they actually make

The range on sale today is school shoes, sports and running shoes, formal derbies and loafers, sandals, slides and slippers. The names on the shoe are sub-brands: Athleo for sports, DOTCOM for formals, Synergy for school, COOL for slides.

Manufacturing evidence is thinner than the range suggests. Action International Pvt Ltd’s own trade listing describes it as a manufacturer with factory operations at Bahadurgarh in Haryana, and its GST registration there begins 06, the Haryana code.

Not on record: whether Action owns or leases that unit, how many units there are, or what they produce in a day. The company’s only statement about its own manufacturing claims “in house manufacturing facilities”.

Worth knowing

No listing we could find carries the Legal Metrology block naming the manufacturer, packer and country of origin, so this piece names no manufacturer of record. That block is printed on the box, so turn the pair over in the shop and read it there.

What Action Shoes costs in India

Flipkart, Action school and men’s footwear listings, 22 August 2026.

School shoes carried MRPs of ₹799 to ₹3,499 and sold at ₹269 to ₹610. Men’s footwear carried MRPs of ₹999 to ₹7,499 and sold at ₹242 to ₹1,489. Discounts ran 59% to 89%, on every listing, on one ordinary Saturday.

An MRP of ₹3,499 on a school shoe that sells at ₹485 is not a discount. It is a price printed in order to be discounted.

Relaxo’s Sparx sneakers carry MRPs of ₹1,299 to ₹3,749 and sell at ₹909 to ₹2,062. Action’s MRPs run higher than Sparx and reach into Bata Power territory, while its transacted prices sit below both. Premium ticket, bargain-bin till. Its own wholesale listing quotes shoes at ₹130 a piece.

Who Action Shoes is actually for

This is a budget school-shoe and knockabout-sports buy, and it is honest at that job. A parent replacing black velcro shoes twice a year at ₹269 to ₹610 a pair gets a real product at a real price, and one Flipkart line carries 4.1 stars across more than 31,000 ratings. It also suits anyone wanting slides or slippers under ₹350.

Skip it for regular running or long hours on your feet, because no cushioning, midsole or outsole specification is published anywhere we could find. Skip it too if you want to know where a shoe was made, by whom, to what standard. That does not exist in public for this brand, at any price in the range.

Reputation and controversies

The Campus connection, as documented

Hari Krishan Agarwal was a director of Action Shoes Private Limited from its incorporation on 23 March 1984 until 16 March 2015, ceasing at two other Action companies the same day. He is now Managing Director of Campus Activewear Limited.

Campus Activewear Limited was incorporated on 24 September 2008 as Action Renewable Energy Private Limited. Its registered office is D-1, Udyog Nagar, Main Rohtak Road — four plots from Action’s D-5 on the same street. It filed ₹1,774.12 crore for FY2026, roughly nine times the two Action footwear companies combined, and our Campus catalogue page covers that range.

Two companies, one street
  • 23 Mar 1984Action Shoes Pvt Ltd incorporated; H. K. Agarwal on the board
  • 24 Sep 2008Action Renewable Energy Pvt Ltd incorporated at D-1 Udyog Nagar
  • 16 Mar 2015H. K. Agarwal ceases at Action Shoes and two other Action companies
  • FY2026That D-1 company, now Campus Activewear Ltd, files ₹1,774.12 crore

Every item here is a registry date or a filed figure.

Those are the facts, and they are all the facts. No document we found says there was a family split, a dispute or a transfer of business, and none explains why he left. We assert no cause, because none is on the record.

What the group claims, against what it files

A group company’s site describes Action as having been “India’s biggest shoe manufacturing company” — past tense, in its own words. The filings do not support it in the present.

Company Filed revenue FY
Campus Activewear Ltd ₹1,774.12 crore FY2026
Action International Pvt Ltd ₹162.99 crore FY2025
Action Footwears Pvt Ltd ₹34.1 crore FY2024
Action Shoes Pvt Ltd ₹1,000 — one thousand rupees FY2025

Action International grew 4% in FY2025, below inflation; Action Footwears shrank 13% in FY2024. Bata India filed ₹3,489 crore for FY2025 and Relaxo ₹2,790 crore. The headcount claim fails too: the brand’s own trade listing declares “1001 to 2000 People”, while EPFO registers across the four Udyog Nagar entities total about 504.

Action Shoes Pvt Ltd also carries an open bank charge of ₹13 lakh registered on 19 March 1985, never satisfied. A separate Action Udhyog Pvt Ltd, which the register does not tie to these companies, has filed no accounts since FY2018. We found no consumer, regulatory, labour or trademark action against any Action footwear entity.

Buying it in India

Action has no working storefront of its own. On 22 August 2026 actionshoes.com would not load, and its about and product pages were gone with it. That domain is on file as the website for three separate Action companies.

So there is no authorised online channel to check a price against, no retrievable Legal Metrology declaration, and no authentication material published anywhere. We found no seizure or court order about counterfeit Action footwear either. What is documented is dilution: “Action Plus”, “Action Hosiery Udyog” and “Action Shoes Factory Outlet” all trade under the name independently.

Check 01

Use the marketplace brand pages, not the brand site

Amazon runs an Action Shoes brand store and AJIO an Action brand page. With the brand’s own site broken, there is nothing to check any other “official Action” site against, so do not trust one.

Check 02

Read the seller name before you pay

Both Action pages we opened on Flipkart said “Sold by RetailNet”, not the brand. No authorised-seller list is published, so the seller name is your only accountability.

Check 03

Ignore the struck-through MRP entirely

Discounts of 59% to 89% were the catalogue’s standing state, not an event. Set your own ceiling: about ₹600 for school shoes, ₹1,500 for men’s sports.

Check 04

Do not expect to authenticate a pair

Action publishes no authentication tells and we will not invent any. The name is in open use across the wholesale trade, so a “genuine Action” assurance cannot be checked against anything.

Common questions

Is Action Shoes still in business?

Yes. Action International Pvt Ltd filed ₹162.99 crore for FY2025 and Action Footwears Pvt Ltd ₹34.1 crore for FY2024. The company named Action Shoes Private Limited is another matter: ₹1,000 for FY2025 — one thousand rupees — and one EPFO employee.

Is Action Shoes related to Campus?

On the record: Campus Activewear Limited was incorporated in 2008 as Action Renewable Energy Private Limited at D-1 Udyog Nagar, and its Managing Director Hari Krishan Agarwal was a director of Action Shoes Pvt Ltd until March 2015. No source explains the separation, so we do not.

Why are Action shoes so cheap on Flipkart?

Because the MRPs sit far above the transacting price. On 22 August 2026 every discounted listing we checked was 59% to 89% off. Action International’s own wholesale listing quotes shoes at ₹130 a piece, which shows the room those MRPs leave.

Is Action Shoes an Indian brand?

Yes. Every Action footwear company on the register is incorporated in India, at Udyog Nagar on Main Rohtak Road in New Delhi, with self-declared manufacturing at Bahadurgarh, Haryana. No Legal Metrology declaration we could find names the country of origin, so check the box in the shop.

The FA take

At ₹269 to ₹610 a pair, Action school shoes are a fair buy for a parent replacing them twice a year, and 4.1 stars across more than 31,000 Flipkart ratings is not nothing. Below ₹600 the brand still does the job it is remembered for.

Above that it is hard to defend. An MRP of ₹7,499 on a shoe transacting at ₹1,489 says the number was never real. The group trades on having been India’s largest shoe manufacturer while its two footwear companies file about ₹197 crore between them — a nineteenth of Campus, four plots down the same street — and declare four times the staff they can show on the EPFO register.

Worth ₹500 for school shoes, worth nothing above ₹1,500, and worth no trust at all in its MRP.
