Alberto Torresi Brand Audit: An Agra Company, Made in India

Alberto Torresi is run by Ricks Shoes, an Agra company. Its India-made declarations, twelve named manufacturers and Myntra prices, checked 22 September 2026.

Alberto Torresi is a footwear brand from Agra, Uttar Pradesh, run by an Indian private company, Ricks Shoes Private Limited, which traded as Virola Shoes Private Limited under the same corporate identity number. The brand’s website names that company as its operator, and its footer gives an address on the Agra–Mathura road.

The name reads as Italian, and the brand’s own blog carries an account of how it was chosen “at a dinner table in Italy”. The statutory declarations give the country of origin: on 22 September 2026, 40 of 40 Alberto Torresi listings read on Myntra declared India as the country of origin, and every product page read on the brand’s own site said the same.

The short answer

Alberto Torresi is an Indian brand, sold by an Agra company whose board is made up mostly of Sachdeva family members. Every declaration read says made in India, and Myntra’s records name twelve manufacturers, including the company under its former name. It sold there at 54.7% of MRP on 22 September 2026, and every listing read was reduced.

Who owns Alberto Torresi

The company behind the brand is Ricks Shoes Private Limited, an unlisted private company incorporated on 4 December 2007 and registered with the Registrar of Companies in Kanpur. Its corporate identity number reads plainly: U for unlisted, 19200 for leather and footwear, UP for Uttar Pradesh, 2007 for the year, and PTC for an ordinary private company rather than the FTC a foreign subsidiary carries. The register mirrors Tofler and ZaubaCorp record its former name as Virola Shoes Private Limited; neither gives the date of the change.

It is a small company on paper. Every mirror read gives authorised capital of ₹10 lakh and paid-up capital of ₹5 lakh. InstaFinancials carries a balance sheet to 31 March 2025, while Tofler and ZaubaCorp show accounts only to 31 March 2023, which is staleness in those mirrors rather than a disagreement. The mirrors do disagree on the registered office: Tofler and ZaubaCorp give 21/68 Freeganj, Agra, and InstaFinancials gives Khasra No. 386–388, Mauja Artoni, Sikandra, which is also the address in the site’s footer.

ZaubaCorp lists six directors, five of them Sachdeva family members. Three have sat on the board since incorporation and three joined later, though Tofler gives different appointment dates for two of them. No source read publishes the shareholding, and no funding round or outside investor appears in any of them.

Press reports describe the owner as the “Virola Group”. A second Agra business carries that name: Virola International, a partnership firm rather than a company. Its IndiaMART profile gives its GST legal status as “Partnership”, names a Sachdeva family member as managing director, and calls Alberto Torresi “an integral part of Virola Shoes Pvt. Ltd.” That firm is the proprietor of the brand’s United States trade mark, registration 5438679, granted on 3 April 2018 for boots, footwear, shoes and slippers.

We tag the brand Independent on that basis: no parent company, holding company or investor is named in any source read, and five of the six directors are Sachdeva family members. That is a finding about who is on the record, not a published shareholding.

When the business began: three dates

Three sources give three different starting points for the family business behind the brand, and none of them is a filing. YourStory wrote on 4 August 2020: “When Virola was started in 1950”, funded with ₹25,000 of the founders’ savings and money from friends and family. The Free Press Journal wrote on 31 May 2019 that the brand is “Owned by the Virola Group founded in 1969”. A piece on the brand’s own blog, dated 1 September 2015, says Alberto Torresi was “Launched in 2010 by the 40-year-old Virola Shoes”.

The sources disagree, so this page picks none. What the register does fix is the company: Ricks Shoes, under its earlier name, was incorporated in December 2007. In its United States filing, Virola International claimed first use of the mark anywhere on 1 January 1990 — an applicant’s claim.

Where the name comes from

The brand’s own site describes its heritage in two places. Its about page, home page and “about our products” page, read on 22 September 2026, describe craft: “Every shoe is carefully handcrafted with love and affection”, and shoes “conceptualised by master designers and made by enthused craftsmen”.

The blog on the same site is where Italy appears. In the 2015 piece by Ambica Gulati, a member of the Sachdeva family is quoted on the name: “Like Albert Pinto, this Italian was born at a dinner table in Italy, explains Sachdeva”. The piece goes on: “His father, who started the unit, was trying to find the name for a shoe brand that they wanted to launch in India and sitting with agents in Italy, Alberto Torresi was born.”

Other published accounts give other versions. YourStory in 2020 wrote that the family “knew the name needed to suit the Italian market”, that “One of Virola’s older international designers was named Alberto Torresi”, and that “Virola launched Alberto Torresi as a label in Europe.” A 2010 ANI report carried by Oneindia opened: “Europe’s popular shoe brand Alberto Torresi a product of Virola International makes its way to the Indian market”, at a launch in Kochi. The United States trade-mark filing states that the name “does not identify a particular living individual”.

The name, as each source tells it
  • 2010ANI: “Europe’s popular shoe brand” arrives in India
  • 2015Brand blog: “born at a dinner table in Italy”
  • 2015US filing: name identifies no living individual
  • 2020YourStory: named after an older Virola designer
  • 2026Every product page read: “Country of Origin: India”

How the name has been described over time, and the origin the product pages declare.

A licensing directory, indialicensing.com, lists the brand’s owner as Virola Shoes Pvt. Ltd. with “Business Origin India”.

Every Myntra listing and own-site product page read on 22 September 2026 declared India as the country of origin.

Who makes Alberto Torresi shoes

The brand’s about page, read on 22 September 2026, says “Ricks Shoes has amassed five merchandise factories under its name” and claims “a global presence in more than 40 countries”. It also calls the company “the leading export company manufacturing footwear for men and women”. YourStory repeated the five factories in 2020, and the 2015 blog piece said “Virola manufactures for eminent global brands”, naming none.

The declarations name the manufacturer of each pair. Three product pages on the brand’s own site each named a different Agra manufacturer — Prabh Overseas, V.M Enterprises and, on a pair of slippers, an individual we do not name — with Ricks Shoes, or Virola Shoes on one page, as packer and marketer. On Myntra, the 40 records read on 22 September 2026 named twelve manufacturers, including Virola Shoes, the company’s former name.

Myntra product records for Alberto Torresi, read 22 September 2026.

Six of the forty name Virola Shoes, the operator’s former name; the other thirty-four name other makers. A declaration names the company legally answerable for the goods, which need not be the factory that stitched them.

The 2015 blog piece said “The unit employs around 800 people”.

What the declarations do settle is origin. Every Myntra record read and every own-site product page read declared India, and no page read declared an import. A pair made in India pays no import duty, so duty plays no part in what an Alberto Torresi shoe costs.

Who sells it: one seller on every listing

On the same 40 Myntra records, the seller of record — the name on the buy button — was Ricks Shoes Pvt Ltd every time. The brand’s own site is run by the same company, and on Amazon.in the storefront selling the brand is called “RICKS SHOES PRIVATE LIMITED”. A buyer on any of those three routes is buying from the operator.

The brand also reaches shops. The Free Press Journal reported in 2019 that it “currently retails out of 700 outlets”, and an undated Indian Retailer interview gave “approximately 700 multi-brand outlets”. The brand’s store locator, read on 22 September 2026, shows a map and no list, so no current count is printed here.

What Alberto Torresi costs in India

Alberto Torresi has no overseas storefront, so there is no foreign price to set against the Indian one. The useful comparison is between the price a page shows crossed out and what it actually charges.

Product on albertotorresi.comCrossed-out priceSelling priceShare charged
Black Formal Brogue Shoes, 88595-BLACK₹4,999₹1,74935.0%
Black Leather Casual Loafers, 66942-BLACK₹4,570₹1,88941.3%
Barleta Black Leather Men Slippers, 67940-BARLETA-BLACK₹3,499₹1,619.1046.3%

albertotorresi.com product pages, read 22 September 2026; prices stated “inclusive of all taxes”.

The crossed-out figure is the shop’s own comparison price, not a declared MRP, so the share column describes the site’s own presentation. Each page also carried a line saying the price had dropped “with new GST Rates”.

We sounded 100 distinct Alberto Torresi listings on Myntra on 22 September 2026, from a brand listing of 220. The median MRP was ₹4,199 and the median price paid ₹2,296.50, which is 54.7% of MRP. All 100 were reduced, across 26 distinct MRPs. Sandals made up 35 listings, formal shoes 28 and casual shoes 21.

Other Indian brands read on Myntra the same day sat either side. Hitz sold at 57.8% of MRP, also with all 100 listings reduced, while Monrow sold at 92.2% and Tresmode at 86.4%.

The price band here is Mid-range, computed from the ₹2,296.50 median actually paid on a Myntra shelf of sandals, formal and casual shoes — the brand’s core line. Earlier published figures sat higher: ₹2,000 and up at the 2010 launch, according to ANI, and shoes from ₹5,000 in YourStory’s 2020 piece. With every listing read reduced, the printed MRP tells a buyer little.

Leather, comfort and a lifetime: what the claims rest on

We read the about page, the “about our products” page, the warranty page and three product pages on 22 September 2026, and set each claim beside the evidence published with it.

albertotorresi.com about, about-our-products, warranty and product pages, read 22 September 2026; Free Press Journal, 31 May 2019.

On the warranty, the site’s warranty page offers “30-days warranty from the date of purchase for repair or replacement”; the about page uses the phrase “a lifetime guaranty” without setting out terms. On materials, the Black Formal Brogue page, 88595-BLACK, read on 22 September 2026, lists “Upper: Synthetic”.

The loafers and slippers read list “Upper: Leather”, with no type of leather named, and all three pairs list a TPR sole, a thermoplastic rubber. No page read makes a waterproof claim. For a buyer, the practical reading is the product page itself: the upper material and the 30-day warranty are what the site commits to in writing.

Check 01

Read the upper line

Upper material varies by pair. Of the three own-site pages read, two listed a leather upper and one a synthetic upper.

Check 02

Look at the seller

On Myntra, Ricks Shoes was the seller on 40 of 40 listings read. Buying from that seller means buying from the brand’s operator.

Check 03

Keep the invoice for thirty days

The warranty page offers repair or replacement for 30 days from purchase.

Buying a genuine pair

The brand’s pages give no way to check a specific pair — no code, hologram, QR or verification page — and publish no list of authorised sellers; the store locator is a map. Such guidance does exist elsewhere: Birkenstock’s site tells buyers to purchase from its own site or “an authorized Birkenstock reseller listed on our Store Locator”. No brand-specific counterfeit warnings turned up for Alberto Torresi.

The simplest safeguard is the declaration. A genuine pair read on Myntra named Ricks Shoes as seller, India as origin and an outside maker or Virola Shoes on the manufacturer line; the same block is printed on the box.

Who Alberto Torresi is actually for

Alberto Torresi suits a buyer who wants a formal shoe, loafer or sandal made in India and sold by the company that runs the brand, at the reduced price nearly every listing carries. It suits less well a buyer who wants leather on every pair without checking the listing: one of the three own-site pages read lists a synthetic upper.

Anyone weighing it against Red Chief, Bata or Metro Shoes can use the same test on all four: read the country of origin, the manufacturer and the upper material on the listing and the box. Our Woodland audit applies it to another Indian brand. The name is a brand decision; the declaration is the part that is checkable.

The FA take

What is good about Alberto Torresi is how answerable the selling is. One Agra company, Ricks Shoes, runs the site and was the seller on 40 of 40 Myntra listings read, every declaration said India, and the median pair sold for ₹2,296.50 — a Mid-range price for formal shoes and sandals made in India, with no import duty inside it.

The caveats are in the small print. The written warranty is 30 days from purchase, so keep the invoice, and upper material varies by pair: the brogue page read lists a synthetic upper. Read both lines on the listing before paying.

An Indian shoe at a reduced Indian price — worth buying on what the box and the listing declare.
