Who this is for
You have ₹5,000 and you want a watch that does not look like the cheapest thing on the counter. Prices checked September 2026.
This band suits a first office watch or a gift that has to look considered. The numbers here were read from one Indian marketplace’s listings on 25 September 2026 — one shelf on one day, and a brand’s own store may price differently. Where a listing showed an MRP above its selling price, both are printed.
₹5,000 does not reach a mechanical movement, a sapphire crystal or a watch you can swim in. For the bands where those begin, see the site’s watch guide for every band.
What ₹5,000 actually buys you
Mechanically, little changes from ₹3,000. Every model here whose listing named a movement was quartz, so you replace a battery every few years rather than service a movement. No listing named a crystal; sapphire is rare at this price.
What changes is metal and dial. The cheaper band’s named listings ran to resin and plated cases on plain two-hand faces. Here they are leather, steel straps, steel cuffs, metal bracelets and multifunction dials — sub-dials carrying a day, a date or a 24-hour scale. The Casio and Timex catalogues overlap most heavily here.
This is also where the gap between two kinds of watch is widest. The first kind sells at the price printed on it. The Casio MTP-VD300L-1EUDF is ₹4,795 and its MRP is ₹4,795 — one number doing both jobs. Of 90 Casio listings read that day, 17 showed any discount, at a median MRP of ₹6,495 against ₹5,995. Of 19 Fastrack listings, none showed one; both medians were ₹2,995.
The second kind arrives from higher up. Timex reaches this shelf from MRPs of ₹7,995 and ₹10,995, and across all 162 Timex listings the median sold at 60% of MRP — ₹4,701 against ₹7,145. French Connection‘s median of 73 listings was an MRP of ₹14,995 against ₹4,648, or 32%, on all 73. Giordano’s median of 29 sat at 42%, on all 29.
So ₹5,000 buys a watch whose MRP is about ₹5,000, or one whose MRP is ₹14,995 and whose selling price that day was ₹4,648. Both figures are what the listings said on 25 September 2026. A discount share is a fact about a printed label and settles nothing about the object, so read both figures and judge the watch.
How we picked
This is desk work, not a trial. A listing hands over a name, a price and a photograph, and nothing about strap comfort, clasp bite or how a plated case survives two Indian summers. The picks are places to start looking.
What got in: a model name, a price of ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 on the day, and a brand already audited here.
The picks
Casio MTP-VD300L-1EUDF, black analogue on leather — ₹4,795
₹4,795, MRP ₹4,795, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: price and label are the same number, and a plain black face goes anywhere. Bad: Casio’s MTP-VD01GL, also black analogue on leather, was ₹2,995 the same day, and the listing does not say what the extra ₹1,800 buys. Skip it if you cannot answer that.
Casio A1999 steel strap and D345 steel cuff, women’s — ₹4,995 each
₹4,995 each, MRP ₹4,995, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: steel at MRP, from the brand that discounted least in the sample. Bad: both sit at the band’s ceiling, a cuff cannot be swapped for a strap, and neither listing gave a case size. Skip them if you have a slim wrist and cannot see them in person.
Timex Trendline TW000Q820, brown dial — ₹4,995
₹4,995, MRP ₹4,995, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: one of the few Timex listings priced at its own MRP, directly comparable with the Casios. Bad: 136 of 162 Timex listings carried a discount, so full MRP is the odd choice inside that catalogue, and 21 mm straps are awkward to replace. Skip it if you will change the strap.
Timex TWEG28202 multifunction — MRP ₹10,995, ₹4,837
₹4,837 against an MRP of ₹10,995, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: a multifunction layout puts sub-dials on the face, the busiest in the band in the listing photographs. Bad: a discounted price can move; ₹4,795 that is also the MRP cannot, and the listing says nothing about case finish. Skip it if you want to pay the printed number.
Timex TWEG288SMU01 bracelet and TW000Z404 — MRP ₹7,995, ₹4,797 each
₹4,797 each against an MRP of ₹7,995, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: a metal bracelet looks dearer than ₹4,797 in photographs; the TW000Z404 is the same money, plainer, on a 21 mm strap. Bad: link play and clasp bite are invisible in a listing, and a plain black dial cost ₹2,995 the same day. Skip them if you cannot return what arrives.
Timex Trendline TWEG18506, silver dial — MRP ₹4,995, ₹4,745
₹4,745 against an MRP of ₹4,995, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: in the listing photographs the most formal face here, and its ₹250 gap between MRP and price is the narrowest of any Timex in the band. Bad: ₹92 more buys the TWEG28202 and its sub-dials. Skip it if dial per rupee is how you decide.
Fastrack Party Nt1474sm, black dial — ₹4,195
₹4,195, MRP ₹4,195, as listed 25 September 2026.
Good: the cheapest watch here, sold at its MRP — none of the 19 Fastrack listings showed a discount — with a wide service network in India. Bad: Fastrack’s median listing was ₹2,995, so this is the top of its range, and the styling is deliberately young. Skip it if it must suit a formal event.

What to avoid at this price
- Reading the discount as a measure of the watch. Five of the watches above sold at 100% of MRP and one at 44%, and all cost ₹4,195 to ₹4,995.
- Paying ₹5,000 for a specification available at ₹3,000. A plain black analogue on leather was ₹2,995 in the same sample. If the dearer one adds no steel, bracelet or sub-dials, it adds nothing.
- A blank where the model number should be. You cannot register a guarantee against nothing, nor order a replacement strap.
- Automatics. Nothing in this band was mechanical; the cheapest one our sample named was ₹9,357 against an MRP of ₹19,495.
Where to buy safely
A brand showroom or an authorised dealer leaves the fewest loose ends: the warranty follows the invoice, and a resize or a battery change becomes the service centre’s job.
Every price on this page came off a marketplace, which is a legitimate channel. What matters is who is at the other end: the brand’s storefront, or a dealer it names. Insist the GST invoice is raised in your name. A guarantee with no bill behind it is not one. Use the site’s watches listings and Casio pages to check a reference before committing.
Fakes are a small risk at this money, not an absent one. There is thin margin in copying a ₹4,795 watch, though what Indian sellers call a “first copy” — a counterfeit — of a well-known Casio or Timex does move through the grey market without a box or a bill. The signal is a price far below every other listing for that reference.
Common Questions
Is ₹5,000 worth spending over ₹3,000? Only for metal and dial. Nothing in the movement or the crystal changes between the bands on these listings, so a ₹5,000 plain dial on leather buys little you can name.
Casio or Timex at this price? Casio’s ₹4,795 and ₹4,995 listings are the MRP, so the price is simple. Timex reaches ₹4,797 and ₹4,837 from ₹7,995 and ₹10,995 — more dial and more bracelet, at a price that moved to get there.
Does a ₹10,995 MRP mean a better watch than a ₹4,795 one? Not on its own. The MRP is what a brand printed; the selling price is what the market asked that day. Across 162 Timex listings read on 25 September 2026 the median sold at 60% of it.
Can I wear these in the rain or the shower? Rain, at your own risk; the shower, assume not. Not one listing in the sample printed a rating for these references, so there is nothing to go by.
Is a steel strap worth more than a leather one at ₹5,000? On this shelf it costs about the same: the Casio A1999 on steel was ₹4,995 and the MTP-VD300L on leather ₹4,795, both at MRP. From the materials, steel handles Indian humidity better, and leather is the cheaper part to replace when it goes. Buy for the look.
The verdict
Buy the Timex TWEG28202 multifunction at ₹4,837, against an MRP of ₹10,995 as listed on 25 September 2026. In a band where most of the extra money buys nothing you can point at, this one adds something visible — sub-dials the ₹4,795 and ₹4,995 alternatives do not have, at the same money. The caveat stands: nothing here has been on a wrist, and case finish is what a listing will not tell you — see it at a counter first.
There are two buyers this is the wrong answer for. If you want the price you pay to be the price the brand printed, the Casio MTP-VD300L-1EUDF at ₹4,795 is that watch. And if a plain black dial is all you want, do not spend in this band — the same sample had a plain black Casio analogue at ₹2,995, and the ₹1,800 you keep is the better buy.
