Louis Vuitton Brand Audit: Its Own Indian Company, Orders by Telephone, and No Myntra Shelf

Who owns Louis Vuitton, why LVMH publishes no revenue figure for the brand, the Indian company that sells it, why orders go by telephone, what the Neverfull costs here, where the bags are made and what the Delhi courts have decided.

Louis Vuitton is a French leather-goods house founded on trunks and now built on the Monogram canvas. The brand belongs to Louis Vuitton Malletier SAS, a French company registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Registry under number 318 571 064, and sits inside LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, which is listed on Euronext Paris under ISIN FR0000121014.

India is where this audit gets interesting. Louis Vuitton sells here through an Indian company of its own, with no franchisee, licensee or distributor named in anything read — and on Myntra, where Gucci and Prada each have a shelf, it has none at all.

The short answer

Louis Vuitton runs its own Indian seller, Louis Vuitton India Retail Private Limited, three stores and a client-service telephone line — and the Indian site’s terms set out ordering by telephone, not a checkout. The Neverfull MM was ₹1,80,000 on 23 September 2026, marked M.R.P. inclusive of all taxes. LVMH publishes no revenue figure for Louis Vuitton, and the house publishes no way for a buyer to check that a bag is real.

Who owns it, and the number that does not exist

There is no ownership puzzle here. Louis Vuitton has sat inside the group created by the 1987 Moët Hennessy and Louis Vuitton merger ever since, and no sale, spin-off or disposal of the house appears in any filing read. LVMH’s 2025 registration document opens with that history.

What does not exist is a Louis Vuitton revenue figure. LVMH reports revenue and profit by business group, and Louis Vuitton sits inside Fashion and Leather Goods together with Dior, Fendi, Celine, Loewe, Loro Piana, Rimowa, Berluti, Kenzo, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Patou and Pucci. Neither the 2025 results pack nor the registration document gives any individual house a financial line.

Louis Vuitton revenue Not published Not published

LVMH 2025 annual results release and results pack, 27 January 2026. Fashion and Leather Goods was 47% of group revenue in 2025.

The half-year to 30 June 2026, published on 27 July 2026, ran the same way: group revenue €38.6bn, Fashion and Leather Goods €18,146m with €6,195m of recurring profit, and no brand line anywhere. LVMH’s regional split stops at “Asia (excluding Japan)”, 26% of 2025 revenue, and “other markets”. India is not broken out.

Every “Louis Vuitton revenue” figure in circulation is somebody’s estimate — the company that owns the brand has never published one.

So when a page tells you what Louis Vuitton earns, ask where the number came from. The same applies to store counts: the only figure LVMH publishes is “around 2,300 stores as of December 31, 2025” for the whole Fashion and Leather Goods group, which is thirteen houses, not one.

India: a subsidiary, and nothing else

Louis Vuitton does not arrive here on somebody else’s licence. Its Indian website names Louis Vuitton India Retail Private Limited as the seller, and no Indian franchisee, licensee, distributor or joint-venture partner is named in anything read.

The register mirrors give that company a CIN of U51909HR2002PTC051767 and an incorporation date of 5 November 2002. The CIN is worth reading letter by letter: U for unlisted, 51909 for other wholesale, HR for Haryana, and PTC for a private limited company. It is not classified under the register’s code for a subsidiary of a foreign company, so this page calls it an ordinary Indian private limited company. Its paid-up capital is about ₹8.02 crore against ₹35 crore authorised, which is an operating seller’s balance sheet rather than a liaison office. One mirror carries revenue of ₹804.93 crore for FY2025, down 1.15% on the year.

Worth knowing

That ₹804.93 crore appears on one register mirror. Others still show a balance sheet dated 31 March 2023 or 31 March 2022, so the mirrors are stale by different amounts. Read the figure as what one mirror carries, not as accounts anyone has seen.

The mirrors also disagree on the registered office and on who sits on the board, so this page names no directors. Louis Vuitton’s own Indian page gives the address as 901-A, Ninth Floor, Time Tower, MG Road, Gurgaon 122002, and a grievance officer at grievanceofficer.in@contact.louisvuitton.com. Disputes go to the courts in Gurgaon under an exclusive-jurisdiction clause. Anyone weighing that against an Indian company they can write to will also find one in our audits of VIP Industries, Safari and Wildcraft.

How you actually buy one here

The Indian site is a catalogue with a telephone number. Clause 4.1.1 of its terms says orders “may be placed in English, or any other languages acknowledged by our Client Service team by dialling 1800 103 9988”, and there is no clause 4.1.2. The same terms describe the goods as “sold exclusively through Louis Vuitton boutiques all over the world, or on the e-commerce section of the Website available solely within certain countries only”, and no working Indian checkout was found.

  3. Louis Vuitton India Retail Private LimitedNamed in the terms as the seller, Gurgaon
  4. Delivery within IndiaDescribed as complimentary, with 30-day returns

Four steps, and a brand-owned company at the end of each of them.

The physical side is three shops: DLF Emporio in Vasant Kunj, Jio World Center at Bandra Kurla Complex, and UB City on Vittal Mallya Road in Bangalore. All three print the same 1800 103 9988 number on the locator read on 23 September 2026. A Delhi High Court judgment records that the house opened its first exclusive Indian outlet in 2003, at a hotel in New Delhi; that is a court’s recital of history, not a shop you can visit.

The Myntra shelf that is not there

Search Myntra for Louis Vuitton and you get no Louis Vuitton brand facet and no Louis Vuitton products — the closest match the search offered was an unrelated label called LOUIS STITCH, with 123 listings. That was the reading on 23 September 2026, and of the luxury houses read on that platform that day, Louis Vuitton was the only one with no shelf at all.

The comparison is stark. Gucci’s facet carried 717 products that day and Prada’s 839, and neither house has an Indian website, an Indian checkout or an Indian seller of its own. On 40 records read from each shelf, Gucci’s listings named Darveys Global Store Private Limited as seller of record on 38 and Prada’s named it on 18. Darveys Global Store carries CIN U52609DL2018PTC331151, paid-up capital of ₹1,00,000 and a Delhi address; the importer named on those records, NR Wardrobe Fuss Private Limited, carries CIN U51101DL2013PTC259910 and the same paid-up capital, and the register lists the same two directors for both companies.

Those are register facts about two companies, and nothing here says anything about the goods they sell. The point for a Louis Vuitton buyer is simpler: the house says its products are “only sold in Louis Vuitton stores and through the website”, and in India that means three shops and a telephone line.

Where the bags are made

This is the part Louis Vuitton documents better than almost any brand on this site. LVMH’s 2025 registration document states that “As of 2025, Louis Vuitton has twenty-nine workshops for finished leather goods – eighteen in France, four in Spain, four in the United States and three in Italy”. The house owns those workshops, which is the opposite of the contract-manufacturing model most bag brands use.

The same filing says the materials come from everywhere: the leading leather supplier accounts for “around 22% of Louis Vuitton’s leather supplies” and the leading metal-parts supplier for “around 25% of its metal parts supplies”. The product pages put it in the brand’s own phrase — “from imported materials”.

Where the wording appears What it says about leather goods, read 23 September 2026
LVMH 2025 registration document 29 workshops: 18 France, 4 Spain, 4 United States, 3 Italy
US site FAQ “exclusively produced in our workshops located in France, Spain, Italy and the United States”
Indian site FAQ “exclusively produced in our workshops located in France, Spain and the United States”
Neverfull MM product page, Indian site “Made in France, Spain, Italy, or the U.S. from imported materials”

Italy is named in three of those four wordings and not in the Indian FAQ. And on the product page the four countries are offered as alternatives, so a buyer reading it before purchase cannot tell which of them made the bag in front of them. Watches are a separate answer: the FAQ says they are “exclusively made in timepiece workshops in Switzerland”.

What Louis Vuitton costs in India

Two core bags, read on both sites on 23 September 2026, printed raw. No conversion and no computed gap: the tax bases are not the same on the two sides, and pretending otherwise is how price myths start.

Bag, Monogram coated canvas Reference India, in.louisvuitton.com United States, us.louisvuitton.com
Neverfull MM M46975 ₹1,80,000, printed “M.R.P. incl. of all taxes” $2,240.00, no tax basis on the product page
Speedy Bandoulière 25 M46977 ₹1,92,000, printed “M.R.P. incl. of all taxes” $1,980.00, no tax basis on the product page

Same reference codes on both sites. The Indian terms say prices are in “Indian Rupees (INR) and includes all applicable taxes”. The US terms of purchase describe the “TOTAL” at the payment step as including taxes, which is not a statement about the price shown on a product page, and US sales tax varies by state.

One thing the raw figures do show without any arithmetic: on the Indian list the Speedy Bandoulière 25 sits above the Neverfull MM, and on the US list it sits below it. The order of the two bags is not the same in the two markets.

On the tax side, IGST — the integrated goods and services tax charged on imports — runs at 18% on heading 4202, which covers handbags, under Notification No. 9/2025-Integrated Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025. Separately, the duty on goods imported for personal use was cut to 10% from 1 April 2026. Both bear on the landed cost of a bag, and neither is visible on the shelf: the Indian price is printed as one MRP with all taxes inside it. At ₹1,80,000 for the entry-level tote, this is our Luxury band for bags, which starts above ₹40,000, on an actual Indian selling price.

Checking a bag is real

Louis Vuitton publishes no way for a buyer to check whether a particular handbag is genuine. What it publishes instead is a statement about where to buy: the goods are “only sold in Louis Vuitton stores and through the website”, and the house says it “guarantees authenticity by means of an exclusive distribution network”.

The brand does publish a digital certificate — for jewellery. Its own FAQ describes an Aura Blockchain Consortium certificate “Debuting for the LV Diamonds Collection”, and nothing on that page extends it to handbags. That is the useful control: the house’s own site would have returned a bag equivalent if one existed, and it does not. Other brands do publish one — Breitling announced in October 2020 that every new watch carries a blockchain digital passport an owner can scan.

Nor is there a published warranty. No warranty term, coverage or exclusion for bags appears on any Louis Vuitton page read, for India or elsewhere; the Indian terms carry a 30-day return window and no repair terms. For a ₹1,80,000 bag, that absence is itself the finding.

Check 01

Buy where the brand says it sells

On Louis Vuitton’s own account that is its three Indian stores, its client-service line and louisvuitton.com. Everything else sits outside the network the house describes.

Check 02

Keep the invoice and match the reference

The reference code is printed on the product page — M46975 for the Neverfull MM. An invoice naming Louis Vuitton India Retail Private Limited is the document that ties your bag to the seller.

Check 03

Treat online “tells” with care

Louis Vuitton publishes nothing about date codes, heat stamps, serial numbers or chips, and no lookup tool. Every guide that claims to teach the tells comes from a reseller or an authentication service, not the house.

The record in India

Louis Vuitton Malletier is a heavy litigant in the Delhi High Court. A search of Indian Kanoon for the exact phrase on 23 September 2026 returned 304 results, of which seven were read in full, so what follows is a sample rather than a census. A control search on another luxury house returned 132 results on the same day, so the database does surface this kind of matter.

Delhi High Court matter Date What was decided How it was heard
CS(COMM) 700/2023 15 May 2025 The “LV” marks declared well-known under section 11(6) read with 11(7) of the Trade Marks Act 1999; the suit had already been decreed on 12 November 2024 with a permanent injunction Ex parte
CS(COMM) 502/2017 26 March 2025 Suit decreed for the plaintiff against two defendants; permanent injunction; no damages; costs of ₹20,000 and ₹22,000 Ex parte
CS(COMM) 874/2022 21 August 2024 Against an Indian online luxury-resale site: permanent injunction on the brand’s copyright in its photographs, sale of new Louis Vuitton goods without written authorisation restrained, and certified pre-owned sales permitted provided that is conspicuously disclosed; costs ₹5,00,000 Contested
CS(COMM) 635/2018 18 April 2023 Permanent injunction against five defendants; damages of ₹1,50,000 and ₹3,50,000 on two of them, and none on two where no infringing product was found Ex parte
CS(COMM) 607/2018 3 April 2019 Suit decreed; permanent injunction; damages ₹3,50,000; costs ₹9,27,296 Ex parte
CS (OS) 1668/2013 20 August 2015 Permanent injunction; the court held the LV logo, the Toile Monogram and the Damier pattern to be well-known marks in India; the damages claim was given up and costs of ₹50,000 allowed Contested

Private parties are not named here. Four of these six matters were decided ex parte — the other side did not appear, so the case was never tested against a defence.

Read those limits carefully. Each decision was on the goods and the parties before that court as the matter then stood; none of them is a finding about any other seller, marketplace or shop, and nobody has ruled on anything on sale today. The 2024 resale order is the clearest example: the court said in terms that “the issue, regarding the genuineness of the products dealt by the defendants, is not an issue before this Court”, because the suit was about photographs.

On the register side, LOUIS VUITTON appears at serial number 68 on India’s List of Well-Known Trade Marks, a list carrying 298 entries when it was read on 23 September 2026, with Louis Vuitton Malletier as proprietor. The 2019 judgment recites Indian registrations in classes 3, 14, 18 and 25. Beyond that, the trade-mark register was not readable in this pass — IP India’s public search now requires a one-time-password login — so this page claims nothing about current status, other classes or any permitted user.

Common questions

Is Louis Vuitton sold officially in India?

Yes. Louis Vuitton India Retail Private Limited is named as the seller in the Indian site’s terms, and the locator showed three stores on 23 September 2026 — DLF Emporio in Delhi, Jio World Center in Mumbai and UB City in Bangalore. No Indian franchisee, licensee or distributor is named in anything read.

Can you order Louis Vuitton online in India?

The terms set out ordering by telephone on 1800 103 9988, and no working Indian checkout was found on 23 September 2026. Prices on the Indian site are in rupees and printed as inclusive of all taxes, and delivery within India is described as complimentary.

Why is there no Louis Vuitton on Myntra?

Myntra had no Louis Vuitton brand facet and no Louis Vuitton products when it was read on 23 September 2026. Other European houses do have shelves there — Gucci 717 products, Prada 839 — sold by third-party sellers rather than by the houses themselves.

What does a Louis Vuitton Neverfull cost in India?

The Neverfull MM in Monogram coated canvas, reference M46975, was ₹1,80,000 on in.louisvuitton.com on 23 September 2026, printed as M.R.P. inclusive of all taxes. The same reference was $2,240.00 on the US site that day, with no tax basis stated on the product page.

Will Louis Vuitton tell me if my bag is real?

No page read offers that service. The house publishes a blockchain certificate for its LV Diamonds jewellery, nothing equivalent for bags, and nothing about date codes or serial numbers. Its published position is that authenticity is guaranteed by buying within its own network.

Are Louis Vuitton bags made in France?

Some are. The group’s 2025 filing lists 29 owned leather-goods workshops — 18 in France, four in Spain, four in the United States and three in Italy — and the product page says “Made in France, Spain, Italy, or the U.S. from imported materials”, without saying which one applies to the bag you are looking at.

The FA take

Louis Vuitton is the rare imported luxury house that answers the two questions this site asks most often. Who sells it here? An Indian company of its own, with a CIN, ₹8.02 crore of paid-up capital, a Gurgaon address and a grievance officer. Where is it made? Twenty-nine workshops the group owns, named by country in a regulatory filing. For a buyer who wants somebody accountable in India, that is worth more than any amount of heritage copy.

The scepticism belongs with what the house declines to publish. There is no Louis Vuitton revenue figure anywhere, so every number you have read about the brand’s size is an estimate. There is no warranty document for a ₹1,80,000 bag. There is no way for you to check that a bag is real — the blockchain certificate covers diamonds — and the product page names four possible countries of manufacture without telling you which one is yours. A house this good at paperwork has chosen where the paperwork stops.

Buy it from the three stores or the telephone line, keep the invoice, and accept that at ₹1,80,000 you are trusting the network rather than a document.
