Re’equil is the Chandigarh skincare brand that dermatology forums recommend for sunscreen. On 1 September 2026 we read the ingredient lists, manufacturer declarations, product claims and prices on thirteen of its products, and its register entry. Its bestselling sunscreen costs more per gram than any chemical sunscreen we have priced from an Indian direct-to-consumer label.
Re’equil India Private Limited is an independent Chandigarh skincare company whose products are made by two contract manufacturers in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. It sells four SPF 50 or 50+ sunscreens and three graded retinol night creams. The Ultra Matte sunscreen costs ₹11.61 per gram at the selling price, checked 1 September 2026, 3.7 times Mamaearth’s cheapest.

How it started
Re’equil’s About page describes “40+ years of combined formulation development experience”, “10 lakh+ customers served”, and a timeline that begins in 2017. The company register gives the legal details. Re’equil India Private Limited was incorporated on 21 February 2018, with Chander Has Gupta and Vipul Gupta as directors from the first day.
No news report or interview about the company forms part of this audit; what follows is the register and the brand’s own pages. The register shows no funding round and no investor, and paid-up capital has stayed at ₹66 lakh. The only outside money recorded is a ₹5 crore charge in favour of Punjab National Bank, created on 31 July 2021. That is bank debt, not venture capital.
- Chander Has Gupta and Vipul GuptaDirectors from incorporation, 21 February 2018
- Punjab National Bank charge₹5 crore secured on the company, 31 July 2021
No share transfer, sale announcement or report of one was found, so this audit calls Re’equil independent.
The money is small beside the brands it is shelved with: The Company Check reads FY25 revenue at ₹45.3 crore, up 22%, on 29 employees.
What they actually make
Re’equil manufactures nothing. All thirteen packs we read name a third party at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh: nine name Hitech Formulation Private Limited and four name Lyra Laboratories Private Limited, incorporated in 2002 and 2005 respectively. Contract manufacturing is the norm in Indian skincare; our Campus audit covers the rarer brand that runs its own plants. None of the thirteen product pages prints a manufacturing licence number; it may be on the tube.
The sunscreens are the bestsellers. There are four, all SPF 50 or 50+, from ₹355.50 to ₹580.50 for 50 g on 1 September 2026; three carry a PA rating, and the fourth, the “Oxybenzone & OMC Free Sunscreen”, is badged “UVA, UVB protection”.
| Sunscreen | Front of pack |
|---|---|
| Ultra Matte Dry Touch Gel, 50 g | SPF 50, PA++++, “In-vitro tested”, “Derma-tested” |
| Oil-Free Aquagel, 50 ml | SPF 50+, PA++++, “Effective up to 80 mins” |
| Sheer Zinc Tinted, 50 g | SPF 50, PA+++, “Derma-tested” |
| Oxybenzone & OMC Free, 50 g | SPF 50+, “UVA, UVB protection”, “Safe filters” |
The Ultra Matte is the bestseller, with 2,820 ratings on its page, and it carries the badge “In-vitro tested”. In-vivo testing applies the product to volunteers and measures how much longer their skin takes to redden; it is standardised as ISO 24444. In-vitro testing spreads the product on a plate and measures how much ultraviolet light passes through.
Few Indian brands we have read state on the page how a headline SPF was obtained; Re’equil does.
Re’equil sells no standalone serum. Its only percentage-named products are three retinol night creams, and in their ingredient lists retinol sits 26th in the 0.1% cream, 24th in the 0.3% and 5th in the 0.5%, behind only water, an alkane, an emollient and glycerin.
The About page describes the range as “clinically proven”, “Derma-tested” appears on at least eight of the thirteen products, the 0.5% retinol cream cites “clinical trials conducted on 36 individuals” and the Skin Radiance Cream claims a “17% improvement in skin tone in 28 days”. On the pages read on 1 September 2026, the product pages name no test report or laboratory for these claims or for the SPF and PA ratings.
On 1 September 2026 Re’equil’s printed MRP was within 10% of the price a buyer paid on its own site.
For the retinol creams, check the shelf life and period-after-opening printed on the pack.
What Re’equil costs in India
Every price here is from reequil.com on 1 September 2026, when the whole site ran a flat 10% off MRP. That is a point in the brand’s favour: Pilgrim’s median discount on its own site the same day was about 28%, and Mamaearth’s 80 g sunscreen sold at half its MRP. At Re’equil the printed price is within 10% of what you pay. We have not priced the brand on Nykaa or the quick-commerce apps, so check one marketplace before you buy.
The per-gram maths is less favourable. The Ultra Matte is ₹645 MRP and ₹580.50 selling for 50 g, or ₹11.61 per gram. Dot & Key’s chemical Vitamin C sunscreen is ₹7.74 per gram. Re’equil’s own cheapest, the Oxybenzone & OMC Free at ₹7.11 per gram, sits close to that benchmark.
| Sunscreen, 50 g unless stated | Per gram, selling |
|---|---|
| Mamaearth Ultra-Light Indian, 80 g | ₹3.13 |
| Pilgrim 2% Niacinamide Glow Gel | ₹5.48 |
| Re’equil Oxybenzone & OMC Free | ₹7.11 |
| Dot & Key Vitamin C + E | ₹7.74 |
| Re’equil Sheer Zinc mineral | ₹10.64 |
| Re’equil Ultra Matte | ₹11.61 |
| Dot & Key Vitamin C + E mineral | ₹11.68 |

Smaller packs cost more per gram. The 20 g Ultra Matte is ₹15.53 per gram, a third more than the 50 g; the 6 g mini at ₹149 is ₹24.83, more than double. And the “50 g + 20 g” bundle at ₹990 is simply the sum of the two MRPs.
- Ultra Matte 50 g + 20 g bundle
- ₹990, or ₹14.14 per gram
- Same two tubes bought separately
- ₹891, or ₹12.73 per gram
- Gap
- +11%: the bundle is ₹99 dearer
- Checked on
- 1 September 2026, reequil.com
The retinol line prices the other way. The 0.1% cream is ₹14.77 per gram and the 0.5% is ₹20.39: five times the claimed active for 38% more money, good value on the labelled strengths.
Who Re’equil is actually for
Re’equil suits a buyer who wants a matte, fragrance-free sunscreen from a brand that talks like a pharmacy, and who will pay ₹580.50 for 50 g of it. The Ultra Matte’s two awards, at Grazia in 2024 and the Nykaa Femina Beauty Awards in 2022, are magazine and retailer panel awards.
It suits less well a buyer choosing sunscreen on price per gram, where the 50 g Ultra Matte is among the dearer tubes we priced. The retinol creams are the most interesting thing on the site for a buyer who reads ingredient lists.
Reputation and controversies
The advertising council’s record carries four complaints against Re’equil India, and all four were upheld: the Pitstop gel’s claim to repair “old and New acne scars” on 16 February 2023, the Skin Radiance cream’s “prevents hyperpigmentation promotes radiant skin” on 29 March 2023, and the hair fall control shampoo twice — on 4 October 2023 over “85% users reported significant difference in hairfall”, and again on 25 February 2024 over claims that it promotes hair growth.
Four upheld complaints are four advertisements, not a verdict on the range. The council is a self-regulatory body set up by the advertising industry rather than a statutory regulator, and each ruling attached to the particular advertisement before it, in the wording that advertisement then carried. None puts a claim permanently out of bounds, and nobody has adjudicated on the product pages as they read today.
Our Bata audit looks at how another brand relates to the company behind it.
Buying it in India
Re’equil sells through its own site, Nykaa, the marketplaces and quick-commerce apps. The flat 10% discount means the MRP is close to the real price, the same MRP-against-street-price test we run on footwear in our Sparx audit. The checks below are about reading the pack, not about which product suits your skin.
Find the manufacturer line
It should read Hitech Formulation or Lyra Laboratories, Sai Road, Baddi. The website prints no licence number; look for one on the tube.
Read the test wording
The Ultra Matte is badged “In-vitro tested”. For any SPF figure, check the pack and ask the brand for its test report.
Find the active in the ingredient list
Retinol is 5th in the 0.5% cream and 26th in the 0.1%. Check the list on the pack you buy.
Divide the price by the grams
₹580.50 for 50 g is ₹11.61 per gram; ₹149 for 6 g is ₹24.83. Buy the largest tube you will finish before it expires.
Skip the bundle
The 50 g + 20 g pack at ₹990 costs ₹99 more than the two tubes bought separately on the same site the same day.

Re’equil does two things well. Its printed MRP is within 10% of the price you pay, and every pack we read names its Baddi manufacturer. The retinol line is the best thing on the site: retinol moves up the ingredient list as the labelled strength rises, and the 0.5% cream at ₹20.39 per gram is good value on the labelled strength.
The sunscreens are a harder sell on price. At ₹11.61 per gram the Ultra Matte costs more than any chemical sunscreen we have priced from an Indian direct-to-consumer label, and the smaller tubes cost more per gram still. Before relying on any SPF or skin claim, check the pack and ask the brand for its test report.
Worth it for the retinol creams and a printed MRP close to the real price; for sunscreen, the ₹7.11-per-gram Oxybenzone & OMC Free tube is the one we would pick on price.
