Sinn is a German watchmaker based in Frankfurt am Main, founded by Helmut Sinn in 1961 and run since 1994 by Lothar Schmidt, who took it over from the founder. The company behind it, Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH, is a private firm with no listed parent.
Sinn names no Indian seller in anything read. On 22 September 2026 no Indian Sinn company turned up on register mirrors, Myntra had no Sinn brand filter, and the only route found on the Sinn pages read is its German online shop, which says “We deliver worldwide”.
Sinn is an independent Frankfurt company, and no Indian partner or Indian price for its watches was found. Its German shop priced the U1 at EUR 2,700.00 and ships outside the EU free of German VAT, with customs duty left to the buyer. Some of its technical claims name a standard and a test house, DNV for the diving certification; others, such as Tegiment and Ar-Dehumidifying, name neither.

Who owns Sinn
Sinn’s imprint names the maker as Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH, Wilhelm-Fay-Straße 21, Frankfurt am Main, registered at the Frankfurt district court under HRB 38841. A GmbH is a German private limited company. The imprint read on 22 September 2026 named one managing director, “Dipl.-Ing. Lothar Schmidt”.
Schmidt came from the industry. Armbanduhren, a German watch magazine, marked 25 years since the takeover in August 2019 and dated the takeover to 1 September 1994. Before that he had held power of attorney at IWC and led production engineering at A. Lange & Söhne. That is a press account of the handover, not a register document.
In December 2025 the trade paper GZ reported that Andreas Hölzel, for finance and operations, and Simone Richter, for market and customers, had joined the management. It said Schmidt, who “took over the brand as owner in 1994”, stays on as the third member. Register mirrors disagree with one another about who is recorded as managing director, so this page gives only the imprint’s and GZ’s wording.

The chain shows Schmidt at the head of the company for more than three decades, with the company’s present name dating from 2009 on the register mirror.
North Data, a German register mirror rather than the register itself, names S & S Uhrenmanufaktur GmbH as the shareholder and shows share capital of EUR 2 million after an increase in 2014. Who owns S & S Uhrenmanufaktur was not established. In March 2024 Schmidt told Top Magazin Frankfurt he was trying to turn the company into a foundation; no document read shows that has happened, so this page does not describe Sinn as foundation-owned.
No revenue figure was found. Annual accounts are filed, the latest for 2024, but no free mirror shows sales. Implisense, a data aggregator, gives a 2023 balance-sheet total of EUR 32,551,451. Schmidt told Top Magazin that the company had grown “from 12 to 160 employees” under him.
How Sinn reaches India
No Indian partner for Sinn is named in anything read. A mirror of the Indian companies register showed no company for “Sinn Spezialuhren”, while the same tool found Fossil India Private Limited at once. A search for “Sinn” alone found one Delhi trading company with a similar name, and nothing links it to the watch brand.
Sinn’s own list of sales and service partners was not readable in this pass, so this page does not say whether it names anyone in India. Johnson & Co has no Sinn collection page. Ethos’s 2024-25 annual report names brands such as Bell & Ross, IWC and Hublot but not Sinn; it does not print its full list of more than 70 brands, so that absence settles nothing.

The only route found on the Sinn pages read is its own shop in Frankfurt.

That shop is the route the readable Sinn pages set out. Sinn’s customer information page reads “We deliver worldwide” and charges EUR 120.00 to ship a new watch or a repair to countries outside the EU. It adds: “Deliveries outside the EU are shipped VAT-free” and “Deliveries outside the EU are subject to additional customs duties and fees.” Nothing on the page is specific to India, and it carries no version date.
The brand’s name is protected in India. A mirror of the Indian trade-mark register shows application 1801138, “Sinn”, in class 14, which covers clocks, watches and their parts. It was filed at Chennai on 30 March 2009 and is registered and renewed to 30 March 2029. The proprietor is Lothar Schmidt of Winterthur, Switzerland, personally, not the Frankfurt company.
Sinn on Myntra
Search Myntra for “sinn” or “sinn watch” and the brand filter offers no Sinn entry. On 22 September 2026 the catalogue count for the brand was zero. The search was working that day: Columbia, the control brand used across these readings, showed 2,428 listings in the same session.
That leaves no Myntra price, no seller of record and no marketplace declaration to report. A Sinn offered on an Indian marketplace comes from a seller that no Sinn page read names.
Warranty and service in India
Sinn’s own guarantee pages were not readable in this pass, so the terms here are as a German retailer, Juwelier Oeke, reproduces them, naming Sinn Spezialuhren GmbH as issuer. They give two years from purchase on a new watch for material and manufacturing defects, and two years on Sinn’s own repair work. They exclude improper use, knocks, repairs by others and normal wear on straps and cases.
The same text says the watch is replaced if a repair fails twice, and states: “Der räumliche Geltungsbereich der Garantie ist weltweit”, meaning the guarantee’s territorial scope is worldwide. No Sinn page read names an Indian service address, and no page read says a Sinn bought abroad is serviced in India. A worldwide scope with no named Indian service point leaves an Indian owner’s route unstated.
Sinn also publishes a German service price list, dated December 2025 by its file name. It was not readable in this pass, so no service price appears here, and there is no rupee service price on any page read.
What Sinn’s technical claims rest on
Sinn sells its watches on named technologies and test standards, and they are not all backed the same way. Some name both a published standard and the organisation that tested the watch. Some name a standard alone. Some name neither. The table sets out what each page read on 22 September 2026 actually says.

The diving claim is the most fully documented. The U1 page says the watch was “tested based on European diving equipment standards EN 250 / EN14143” and certified by DNV. Sinn’s DNV page names the classification society, formerly DNV GL and Germanischer Lloyd, and describes three hours at minus 20 °C and three hours at plus 50 °C, then accuracy and function checks.
On the U1, Sinn names the standard and the tester. On Tegiment, the page names neither.
The 613 St page makes the same diving-standard claim but says only that the watch was “certified by an independent institute”. The U1 page says its bezel has “TEGIMENT Technology and therefore especially scratch-resistant”, and says Ar-Dehumidifying “enhances functional reliability and freedom from fogging”. Neither sentence names a standard, a measurement or a tester. Sinn’s own Tegiment page was not readable in this pass, so no hardness figure appears here.
Sinn’s DIN 8330 page calls the 103 Ti IFR and 103 Ti UTC IFR “the first DIN 8330 certified watches from Sinn”. It names no test house. The watch magazine Worn & Wound wrote in October 2025 that all DIN 8330 watches are tested and certified by Seacotec of Hamburg; that is the magazine’s statement, not Sinn’s.
What Sinn says about its movements
Sinn’s pages name calibres by code. The U1 runs a self-winding “SW 200-1”, and the 356 Sa PILOT II a self-winding “SW 500” with 25 jewels at 28,800 vibrations an hour. The Sinn pages read name no maker for those calibres, and this page does not either.
The archived EZM 10 TESTAF page names a “Sinn SZ01” chronograph movement. In a 2020 interview with WatchPro, Schmidt said making Sinn’s own movements “would require our own machining production, which we still have to build” (translated from German). On the pages read, Sinn does not describe itself as making its own movements. Schmidt said in the same interview that Sinn is a German company that produces in Germany.
What Sinn costs in India
No Indian price for a Sinn was found. There is no Indian Sinn site, no Indian retailer page and no Myntra shelf, so there is no Indian MRP to set beside a German one. This page sets no price band and prints no percentage gap.
The German side is clear. Sinn’s own shop showed these prices on 22 September 2026, each matched by Sinn’s product number. The prices include German VAT, which Sinn says it does not charge on deliveries outside the EU.

An Indian buyer ordering direct would pay the German price without German VAT, plus EUR 120.00 shipping, plus whatever duty and fees India levies on arrival, which Sinn leaves to the buyer. The Budget 2026-27 cut duty on goods imported for personal use to 10% from 1 April 2026; how that applies to a watch in practice is not established, so this page computes no landed cost.
Buying a genuine Sinn
No Sinn page read carries counterfeit guidance, and this page invents no tell. What a buyer can do is buy from a source Sinn itself names and keep the paperwork that ties the watch to that source.
Buy from Sinn or its own list
Order from sinn.de, or from a dealer on Sinn’s own sales-and-service partner list. No Indian seller appears on any Sinn page read.
Match the product number
Sinn prints numbers such as 1010.010 for the U1. Look the number up on sinn.de and compare the specification and German price.
Keep the invoice and guarantee papers
The guarantee runs from the date of purchase. Keep Sinn’s invoice or the dealer’s, with any guarantee card.

If a Sinn is offered in India, ask where it was bought and read the importer and origin lines on the box.
The record in India
A search of Indian judgments on 22 September 2026 for “Sinn Spezialuhren” and for “Lothar Schmidt” showed no results. The same database showed about 31 results for a Rolex trade-mark control search, so it was answering that day. Read this as nothing found under those two terms, not as a verdict on the brand; the single word “Sinn” was not searched, because it is too common a word.
Who Sinn is actually for
Sinn suits an Indian buyer who wants a German tool watch with its test standards written down, and who is comfortable ordering from Frankfurt and handling duty on arrival. The U1 at EUR 2,700.00 is the clearest case, because its page names both the diving standard and DNV. A buyer who wants an Indian receipt and an Indian service desk should read the FashionAudit audits of Tudor, Longines and Tissot first.

Sinn documents its best claim properly. The U1 page names two European diving standards and DNV as the certifier, gives a German price with its tax basis, and the shop states in plain words that it ships worldwide, VAT-free outside the EU. For a buyer who orders direct and keeps the invoice, that is a checkable purchase.
The same care does not reach every claim. Tegiment and Ar-Dehumidifying carry no standard or tester on the pages read, and the 613 St’s certifier is only “an independent institute”. For India, the Sinn pages read name no seller, no service address and no price, so duty and after-sales care fall on the buyer.
A well-documented German tool watch that India can only buy by post: order the U1 at EUR 2,700.00 from Frankfurt, and read the Tegiment line as marketing.
