An Armani Exchange watch carries an Italian fashion house’s name and is made by an American watch company. Giorgio Armani S.p.A. of Milan owns the A|X marks; Fossil Group, Inc. of Richardson, Texas designs, makes and distributes the watches under a licence its annual report dates to 31 December 2027. Fossil’s own story is told in our Fossil audit, so this page stays with the A|X watch.
In India the watch passes through two more companies. armaniexchange.in is operated by Reliance Brands Limited, and its watch pages name Fossil India Pvt Ltd as marketer. On Myntra on 22 September 2026, Fossil India was the importer on most of the 40 records read, and the median A|X watch sold for ₹13,995.5.
Armani Exchange watches are Fossil products made under licence from Giorgio Armani S.p.A., with the licence expiring on 31 December 2027 by Fossil’s 10-K. Fossil does not disclose A|X sales on their own; all Armani licences together were 10.1% of its net sales in fiscal 2025. In India, Fossil India Pvt Ltd is named as marketer on armaniexchange.in and as importer on most Myntra records read, most watches declare China as origin, and Fossil’s warranty runs two years on the movement, hands and dial only.

Who owns Armani Exchange Watches
Nobody owns an “Armani Exchange watch company”. The brand belongs to Giorgio Armani S.p.A., whose US site footer reads “Copyright © 2026 Giorgio Armani S.p.A. – All Rights Reserved”, and Indian courts have recorded the company as owner of the ARMANI marks in the trade-mark suits described below. The company is unlisted. Mr Armani died on 4 September 2025; Reuters reported on 4 September 2026 that a partial stake sale provided for in his will had not been agreed.
The watches are Fossil’s. The partnership began in 1997 with Emporio Armani watches, and on 12 August 2014 the two companies announced a ten-year extension “through 2023” covering Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange and Emporio Armani Swiss Made watches. Fossil’s 10-K for fiscal 2025, filed on 12 March 2026, now lists both ARMANI EXCHANGE and EMPORIO ARMANI with an expiration date of 12/31/2027, “subject to early termination in certain circumstances”.

A licence carries conditions, and Fossil spells out the risk in its own risk factors: “If we are unable to achieve the minimum net sales thresholds, minimum marketing spend, restrictive covenants and/or other obligations of a license, we would need to seek a waiver … or face the possibility that the licensor could terminate the license agreement before its expiration date.” No renewal or termination of the Armani licence was announced in the filings and summaries read up to 17 September 2026, and Fossil’s release of 12 August 2026 lists Armani Exchange among its licensed brands.
What the licence is worth to Fossil
Owner revenue is not brand revenue, and Fossil does not break out Armani Exchange. Its 10-K says licensed products made up 47.3% of consolidated net sales in fiscal 2025, and “ARMANI product sales” 10.1%. That 10.1% covers every Armani licence Fossil holds, Emporio Armani included, so no A|X figure can be drawn from it.
Fossil itself is shrinking. Net sales for the year to 3 January 2026 fell 12.3%, with an operating loss of $19.1 million and a net loss of $78.3 million. In the quarter to 4 July 2026 net sales fell 4.9% to $209.7 million, company stores went from 214 to 176, and Fossil guided to a 3–5% fall in sales for fiscal 2026 under a multi-year “Turnaround Plan”. None of this is about A|X alone, but it is the balance sheet behind the licence.
How Armani Exchange watches reach India
The Indian company in the chain is Fossil India Private Limited. Register mirrors give its CIN as U18101KA2007PTC071705, with incorporation on 31 August 2007, a registered office on Cubbon Road in Bengaluru and paid-up capital of about ₹11.39 crore. The PTC in the CIN marks an ordinary private company; it is not the FTC code for a foreign-owned one. One mirror carries revenue of ₹928.12 crore for 2024-25; that is an aggregator’s figure for everything the company sells, not audited accounts we have seen.
Fossil’s 10-K mentions India twice. “We have some limited watch assembly operations through an owned facility in India,” it says, and “in Asia-Pacific, a significant number of our employees are in India (20%).” Every armaniexchange.in watch page read names “Fossil India Pvt Ltd” as marketer, at an address in Village Tipra, Barotiwala, Tehsil Baddi, District Solan, Himachal Pradesh. No document read says that the Baddi site is the facility the 10-K describes.
The site itself belongs to a different company. armaniexchange.in’s terms of use name “Reliance brands Limited” at Court House, Dhobi Talao, Mumbai, as operator, with Indian law and the Mumbai courts governing. The terms do not mention Giorgio Armani, a licence or a franchise, so no document read describes the arrangement between Reliance Brands and the Armani company. The brand’s store locator publishes no fixed list, and this page prints no store count.
Armani Exchange watches on Myntra
Myntra’s Armani Exchange filter held 175 products on 22 September 2026, and 168 of them sat under Watches. Columbia returned 2,428 listings in the same session, so the search was working. Across 100 A|X watch listings, the median MRP was ₹15,495 and the median price paid ₹13,995.5, or 90.3% of MRP. Thirty-nine of the 100 carried a reduction, and there were 21 distinct MRPs.
Some named listings sold well below MRP: the AX2320 at ₹8,956 against ₹13,995, the AX5311I at ₹8,056 against ₹12,995, and the AX2098 at ₹10,391 against ₹16,495.
The declarations on 40 listings point back to the licence. Fossil India Pvt Ltd, at Bhatoli Kalan, Baddi, was named as importer on about 31 of them, with the line blank on seven. The manufacturer line named Foshan Nanhai NanHua Metal & Gem Crafts Co. Ltd of China on nine, Fossil India at Nalagarh or Bhatoli Kalan addresses on at least seven, and was blank or “NA” on nine, with other names on the rest. Country of origin read China on 30, “China, India” on 8, India on 1 and “Japan, China” on 1.
A company called Savadika Retail Private Limited owns a registered trade mark reading “Truenet Commerce”, and the marketplace names “Truenet Commerce” as seller of record on 33 of 40 listings read on 22 September 2026; no document read links Savadika Retail Private Limited to the brand. The other seven were sold by ADONIS KOMMERCE.
Where the watches are made
Fossil’s 10-K says “the vast majority of our products are sourced internationally” and that “most watch product sourcing is coordinated through our Hong Kong SAR subsidiary, Fossil (East) Limited”. It gives no factory count or country split for A|X. Every armaniexchange.in watch page read declared China as country of origin, and so did 30 of the 40 Myntra records. The nine that include India in the origin line sit beside the 10-K’s “limited watch assembly” in India; no document read ties any single reference to that facility.
What the movement claims say
A|X describes its watches by movement type and nothing more. The Indian pages read call the AX7163SET, AX4182, AX1950 and AX1951 quartz, and no page on either site names a calibre, a movement supplier or a country for the movement. This page names none either.
Two references are described differently on the brand’s two sites. armaniexchange.in lists the AX2458 as “Automatic”, 46mm, with a black CD-finish dial; armani.com’s US page lists the same code as “Quartz/Chrono”, 44mm, 10 ATM. The AX4181 is a 42mm chronograph with a black sunray dial in India and a 34mm “Quartz/3 Hand” with a silver brushed dial in the US. The two descriptions cannot both be right, and neither page says which is, so read the movement off the watch and the box before paying.
The same code, the AX2458, is an automatic on the Indian site and a quartz chronograph on the American one.
Water resistance is given per reference. armaniexchange.in lists 100 m for the 44mm AX1950 and AX1951, which have rotating bezels, and the US page gives 5 ATM for the AX7163SET gift set.
Warranty and service in India
The warranty is Fossil’s, not Armani’s. Fossil’s 2026 Standard Limited Warranty, marked “Updated April 2026”, reads: “Your watch is warranted by Fossil Group, Inc* (‘Fossil’) for a period two (2) years from the original date of purchase.” It adds that “the watch movement, hands and dial are the only components covered”. Battery, case, crown, crystal, strap, bracelet and plating are excluded, as are “Products that are not purchased from an authorized retailer”. The warranty is void if serial numbers or date codes are removed.
Claims go “to the authorized international watch service center closest to you”, with “a receipt as proof of purchase”. The document does not name India, and no page read says a watch bought abroad is serviced in India. armaniexchange.in lists “Warranty: 2 Year” on every watch read. Fossil India’s own warranty page, written for Fossil-brand watches, promises repairs within “up to 30 days” at its Bangalore service centre; it does not say whether that centre handles A|X, so keep the invoice and ask before you need it.
What Armani Exchange watches cost in India
The US prices below are armani.com list prices, which exclude sales tax; the Terms of Sale say tax is added at checkout by shipping address. armaniexchange.in prints “Price inclusive of all taxes”. Two references can be set side by side, and they are shown with no conversion and no gap.

No exchange rate was read and no GST rate on watches was read from an official source, so this page computes neither a gap nor the tax inside the Indian MRP. For a watch bought abroad and carried home, the Budget 2026-27 cut duty on goods imported for personal use to 10% from 1 April 2026; how that applies to a watch in practice is not established.
On this site’s watch bands, the Myntra median paid of ₹13,995.5 across 100 watches puts A|X in the mid-range, ₹3,000 to ₹15,000, near its top. The brand’s own site runs higher, at ₹14,995 to ₹23,995 MRP for the six references read. Checking an Armani Exchange watch is genuine
Giorgio Armani’s authenticity pages, in the US and on armaniexchange.in, describe Certilogo: scan the QR code “on the garment label” or enter a 12-digit code. Both describe it for garments and apparel, and neither says watches carry one. The watch-specific points published are Fossil’s: the serial and date codes whose removal voids the warranty, and the authorised-retailer condition. No list of authorised A|X watch dealers in India was found.
Read the importer line
About 31 of 40 Myntra records named Fossil India Pvt Ltd, Bhatoli Kalan, Baddi, as importer. A different name, or none, is a question for the seller.
Match the reference to the brand’s page
Compare the code, case size and dial on armaniexchange.in before buying, and check the movement on the box, since two codes are described differently on the Indian and US sites.
Keep the dated receipt
Fossil’s warranty needs a receipt and excludes watches not bought from an authorised retailer. Without both, the two years may not apply.
Look for the serial and date codes
The warranty is void if they are removed, so a caseback without them deserves a second look.
The record in India
Giorgio Armani S.p.A. has won three trade-mark decrees in Delhi’s commercial courts, all three ex parte. On 2 December 2023 a Tis Hazari court granted a permanent injunction and ₹3 lakh damages against Sonu Kumar Gupta of Print Point, and ordered Armani marks off his online listings; the plaint lists watches among Armani goods, but the goods seized were not shown to be A|X watches. Two Patiala House decrees of 25 April and 27 May 2024, against Armario Clothing and Ratan Lal Sab, concerned jeans, T-shirts and labels, with ₹1 lakh damages each.
Each decree was on that matter as it then stood, and nobody has ruled on anything beyond it. Searches of Indian judgments for “armani exchange watches” and “Fossil India Private Limited” showed no decided case about counterfeit A|X watches, so read that as nothing found under those terms.
Who Armani Exchange Watches is actually for
A|X suits a buyer who wants the Armani name on a chunky quartz fashion watch and is content with a two-year Fossil warranty on the movement, hands and dial. It is a Fossil-made, mostly Chinese-origin watch priced for the name, so compare it with other fashion-watch labels and with value names like Timex and Casio before paying ₹15,000 or more.

The chain behind an A|X watch is easy to follow on paper. Giorgio Armani owns the name, Fossil holds the licence to 31 December 2027, and Fossil India’s name sat on the armaniexchange.in pages and on most Myntra import lines read. The warranty is Fossil’s, stated plainly, and on Myntra the median watch sold at 90.3% of MRP.
The scepticism belongs to what the name is buying. The references read are quartz, bar the disputed AX2458, mostly of declared Chinese origin, with no calibre named, and the brand’s two sites describe the AX2458 and AX4181 as different watches. The two-year cover leaves out the case, crystal and bracelet, and no page read says a watch bought abroad is serviced in India.
