Aurelia Brand Audit: Who Owns It, and What It Costs in India

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited is the seller of record on 120 of 120 Myntra records read, two years after TCNS was dissolved into it. The brand's own shop still names TCNS as marketer on 18 of 29 declarations.

Aurelia and Global Desi hang next to each other on almost every ethnic-wear rail in India, cut for the same shopper at roughly the same money. They belong to entirely different companies, and only one of the two has a listed parent standing behind it.

Aurelia is the Aditya Birla half. On 7 September 2026 its Myntra catalogue held 4,085 listings, and the seller of record on every one of the 120 read in full was Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. On the same afternoon, the brand’s own shop named a company that was dissolved two years ago.

The short answer

There is a company behind this brand and a shopper can see it on the listing. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited is the seller of record on 120 of 120 Myntra records read in full, and the group’s own releases of 6 May 2023 and 25 May 2026 both name Aurelia among the brands it holds.

Price: 4,028 of 4,085 Myntra listings read on 7 September 2026, 85.2% reduced, 64.7% of MRP in aggregate, median charged ₹1,160. The brand’s own store is about eight points cheaper than Myntra, and Ajio is cheaper again.

Who is named as answerable for the garment depends entirely on where you buy it — 64 different manufacturer names on Myntra, 14 on the brand’s own site, one on Tata CLiQ, all read the same day.

Who owns Aurelia

Aurelia came to the Aditya Birla group with TCNS Clothing Co. Limited, the company that built W for Woman. The group announced the deal on 6 May 2023 — 51% for about ₹1,650 crore under a share purchase agreement, plus a 29% open offer at ₹503 a share — and completed it on 27 September 2023. That release names the brands acquired as W, Aurelia, Wishful, Folksong and Elleven.

The company was then absorbed outright. The National Company Law Tribunal sanctioned the scheme on 2 August 2024, it took effect on 1 September 2024, the record date was 3 September 2024 and TCNS shareholders received 11 ABFRL shares for every 6 they held. ABFRL’s own letter to the exchanges puts it plainly: TCNS “stands amalgamated into and with ABFRL and dissolved without being wound up.”

From TCNS to Aditya Birla
  1. TCNS Clothing Co. Private LimitedIncorporated 3 December 1997
  2. TCNS Clothing Co. LimitedRenamed 5 January 2018, listed the same year
  3. Controlling stake to ABFRLAnnounced 6 May 2023, completed 27 September 2023
  4. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail LimitedAmalgamation effective 1 September 2024; TCNS dissolved

There is no TCNS to write to any more. The company answerable for an Aurelia kurta today is a listed one.

ABFRL is also the current entity and not a leftover name. When the group split, the undertaking that moved out was the Madura menswear business — Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Peter England and the licensed labels beside them. Everything else stayed, and ABFRL’s results release of 25 May 2026 names “leading women’s brands W, Aurelia, Wishful, Elleven and Folksong” in its own account of what it runs. That release puts FY26 revenue at ₹8,177 crore with a loss after tax of ₹830 crore, and the Ethnic Businesses segment at ₹2,227 crore across at least eleven brands.

Is there a company behind the brand?

On a marketplace this is answerable per listing, because the declared manufacturer and the seller of record sit on the same record. Across 120 Aurelia listings read in full on 7 September 2026, ABFRL was named as a seller on all 120 and was the first-named seller on 110. Twenty-five listings carry more than one seller — Supercom Net on 24, two spellings of Eshopbox on six, Westbury Holdings on two.

Set that against a name with nothing behind it. Anouk, read the same week, gave 207 different declared manufacturers and 167 different sellers across 450 listings, with the platform’s own company named on none of them. Myntra’s records also carry an attribute marking a brand as one of the platform’s own house of brands; on all 120 Aurelia records it is off, against a control brand carrying it on 15 of 15 in the same session. That is the shop’s classification of its own catalogue, not a trade-mark record, and the ownership answer above rests on the group’s filings and releases rather than on it.

The name on the label and the name on the register

Two readings, both taken on 7 September 2026. On shopforaurelia.com, the brand’s own shop, the “Marketed By” line named TCNS Clothing Co. Limited on 18 of 29 readable declarations and ABFRL’s TCNS division on the other 11. On Myntra, ABFRL was a seller on all 120 records read, while four of those records still carried legacy TCNS names in the manufacturer line, including “TCNS Clothing Co Pvt. Ltd” — a form of the name the company stopped using on 5 January 2018 — and one reading “Third party manufacturer engaged by TCNS Clothing Co Ltd”. The company all four point at was dissolved on 1 September 2024.

The same test on W for Woman the same week returned 18 of 30. Two sister brands, two shops, the same proportion — and its true sister is W, not Global Desi, which belongs to a different company altogether. A label is not evidence of who owns anything today, and the marketplace and the brand’s own site are plainly not reading from the same sheet.

What Aurelia costs in India

Across 4,028 of the 4,085 Myntra listings, read one at a time on 7 September 2026, 3,431 were reduced below MRP (85.2%) and 597 sat at MRP. In aggregate the catalogue charged 64.7% of MRP, on a median MRP of ₹1,799 and a median price charged of ₹1,160. The median reduction among the reduced ones was 42.6% and the deepest was 67.1%.

MRP is a ceiling, not a price, so the more useful number is the shape of the ladder. Those 4,028 listings carry only 107 distinct MRPs between them, 3,777 of them ending in 99 — but the discount side is a different animal. There are 67 distinct printed discount percentages, and they are every whole number from 1% to 67% with no gap anywhere. W for Woman’s catalogue read the same week gave 69 gapless integers from 1% to 69%. Both Aditya Birla ethnic brands appear to price garment by garment, where a value chain like Reliance Trends ran only 22 discount rungs across 6,944 listings.

Where Listings read Reduced Charged, as % of MRP Median charged Discount rungs
Ajio 938 of 2,486 99.1% 50.3% ₹1,055 53, from 1% to 69%, with 16 gaps
Tata CLiQ 30 of 4,537 100% 56.5% — sample too small to count
shopforaurelia.com 3,019 carrying an MRP 73.0% of in-stock 56.5% ₹1,199 62
Myntra 4,028 of 4,085 85.2% 64.7% ₹1,160 67, every integer 1% to 67%

All read 7 September 2026. The Tata CLiQ row rests on thirty listings and is printed as thirty. Nykaa Fashion carried 4,558 Aurelia items that day; no prices were read there.

So the brand’s own shop is about eight points cheaper than Myntra, and Ajio cheaper still. That ordering is not the sister brand’s: W for Woman’s own store came within about a point of Myntra. Channel ranking has to be established per brand, and this shelf gave three different answers in a week.

Two oddities on the brand’s own store. Of 3,900 in-stock products, 881 publish a price and no MRP at all — the same shape W’s shop showed. And on 331 of them the price changes with the size you pick, the widest the site has recorded; W showed it on five listings out of 6,987. Check the size you want before deciding a garment is cheap.

None of this is import pricing. Origin was declared India on all 179 statutory declarations read across three sites, so the customs stack that lifts a foreign label’s Indian shelf price — 20% basic duty plus an 18.5% cess, neither recoverable — is not inside these numbers at all. What sits between ₹1,799 and ₹1,160 is manufacturing, margin and discount policy.

A countdown with no beginning

Of those 120 records, 108 carried a discount and every one of the 108 carried a label reading “OFFER ENDS IN”. On all 108 the field holding the offer’s start time reads zero: an end, and no beginning. Between them they hold 80 distinct end times, every one falling between 2.40 am and 3.13 am the following morning — a 32-minute window, between nine and a half and ten hours after the listings were read, with each garment’s clock running out at its own second.

Beside that, a coupon dated 10 and 11 October 2026 sat on 99 of the first 100 listings. It is not an Aurelia habit. The same coupon sat that afternoon on 100 of 100 W for Woman listings, 98 Soch, 96 Biba, 95 Global Desi, 93 Libas and 86 Anouk. It distinguishes nothing at all, and matters only for what it sits next to.

Uniqlo, read the day before, showed the mirror image — sale flags carrying a start date and no end date at all. A discount whose end is always a few hours away and one with no end date whatsoever describe the same thing from opposite ends, and the sensible response is identical: treat the reduced number as the ordinary price and judge it on its own. Bank offers ran on every listing, five per record in this sample, so every figure above is a floor rather than a final price.

Who is answerable for an Aurelia garment

The packaging rules require a retail package to name the manufacturer or packer with an address, the country of origin, the net quantity and a sale price inclusive of all taxes. That block says who is legally answerable for the goods. It does not say who sewed the garment, and naming a set of entities rather than one is lawful.

Even so, the spread here is the widest the site has recorded. The 120 Myntra records carry 64 distinct manufacturer strings: 43 name ABFRL’s TCNS division, four name legacy TCNS entities, and 73 name a third party — among them New Fashion Knitwears in Ludhiana, Deez Creations in Noida and Aarvi Textiles in Gurgaon. None is blank.

Where Records read Manufacturer strings Seller of record Origin Net quantity
Myntra 120 64 ABFRL on 120 of 120 India 120 of 120 a value on 23; a unit only on 13 more
shopforaurelia.com 29 readable of 30 14 Marketed by TCNS on 18, ABFRL on 11 India 29 of 29 22 of 29
Tata CLiQ 30 1 ABFRL on 30 of 30 India 30 of 30 30 of 30

All read 7 September 2026. Tata CLiQ’s single string is “Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (TCNS Division), Pin:- 110030”, used for manufacturer and packer alike, with the importer field reading “NA” on all thirty.

One brand, one day, three shopping sites: sixty-four names on the first, fourteen on the second, one on the third.

No cause is offered for that difference — but a reader who has checked the declaration on one site has not checked the others.

What is missing is missing everywhere. Fibre percentage composition appears on 58 of the 120 Myntra records and on none of the 29 read on the brand’s own store. Fabric weight in grams per square metre — the number that tells you whether a cotton kurta will last a season — appears on none of the 179 declarations, making eighteen clothing brands read here without one publishing it. Net quantity is patchier: a value on 23 of 120 Myntra records, 13 more printing a unit such as “Piece” with no number in front of it, against 30 of 30 on Tata CLiQ.

Worth knowing

The brand’s own store publishes a style code on every product page and Myntra publishes none, so the same garment cannot be priced against itself across the two. Compare a kurta on its features, not on a code.

Stores, money and a launch year from an interview

Three store figures are usable and each carries a different basis. The TCNS prospectus states that at 31 March 2018 its products sold through 281 W outlets and 183 Aurelia outlets. A trade interview with Lalit Raghuvanshi, then vice president for sales at TCNS, published by Indian Retailer on 26 June 2019, gives 215 Aurelia exclusive outlets across 100-plus cities at 31 March 2019, plus over a thousand large-format and multi-brand doors. And the brand’s own locator held 245 distinct store pages across 123 city files on 7 September 2026 — a count of pages in a locator, which is not the same thing as a disclosed store count.

The group’s own numbers cannot answer this. Its ethnic brand store count of 685 at 31 March 2026 covers W, Aurelia, Wishful, Elleven, Folksong, TASVA, Jaypore and Sabyasachi among others, so it is not Aurelia’s and is not printed as Aurelia’s. No brand-level figure is taken from the group’s most recent investor presentation, which gives the same number to two different brands on the same page.

Revenue is thinner again. No filing read here discloses revenue for the Aurelia brand in any year. The same 2019 interview says Aurelia accounted for 34% of TCNS’s revenue for Fiscal 2019 — a seven-year-old share, from an interview rather than a filing, which cannot be applied to a later year or multiplied against an ABFRL figure. The narrowest current figure the group publishes is that ₹2,227 crore ethnic segment.

The launch year has the same problem. “Incepted in the year 2009” comes from that single interview; no prospectus, scheme document or results release read here dates the brand at all. It is printed with its source attached, because the source is the whole of the evidence.

The advertising record

Nothing is filed against Aurelia with the Advertising Standards Council of India, and nothing under TCNS, TCNS Clothing or Aditya Birla Fashion either. Four names, four blanks — worth qualifying rather than reading as a clean bill. The council is a self-regulatory industry body and not a statutory regulator, and its file is built around objective claims of the kind clothing almost never makes. An empty file here says more about the category than about the brand, though an absence somebody looked for beats one nobody did.

Common questions

Who owns Aurelia?

Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, a listed company with CIN L18101MH2007PLC233901. It acquired a controlling stake in TCNS Clothing Co. Limited on 27 September 2023 and absorbed the company entirely with effect from 1 September 2024, after which TCNS was dissolved without being wound up. ABFRL’s results release of 25 May 2026 names Aurelia among the women’s brands it runs.

Are Aurelia and Global Desi the same company?

No. Aurelia’s seller of record on Myntra is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited; Global Desi’s declared manufacturer and seller is Ochre and Black Private Limited, an unlisted Mumbai company. Nothing in the 2023 acquisition release or ABFRL’s FY26 results release names Global Desi.

Why does Aurelia’s own website name a dissolved company?

The “Marketed By” line on shopforaurelia.com named TCNS Clothing Co. Limited on 18 of 29 readable declarations on 7 September 2026. That company was dissolved on 1 September 2024 when it merged into ABFRL. Why the wording persists is not established here, and it does not change who is answerable — ABFRL is the seller of record on every Myntra and Tata CLiQ listing read.

Is Aurelia cheaper on its own website?

Yes, on the day read. Across 3,019 listings publishing an MRP, shopforaurelia.com charged 56.5% of MRP in aggregate against Myntra’s 64.7% across 4,028 listings, both on 7 September 2026. Ajio was cheaper again at 50.3% across 938 listings. Check the size before you decide — 331 in-stock products priced differently by size.

Where are Aurelia clothes made?

The declaration names who is legally answerable for the goods rather than the factory, so the honest answer is about origin and entity. Country of origin was declared India on all 179 statutory declarations read across Myntra, the brand’s own store and Tata CLiQ on 7 September 2026. Sixty-four different manufacturer names appeared across 120 Myntra records, most of them third-party firms in Noida, Ludhiana, Gurgaon and Himachal Pradesh.

Does Aurelia publish fabric composition or GSM?

Partly, and not at all. Fibre percentage composition appears on 58 of 120 Myntra records read on 7 September 2026 and on none of the 29 declarations read on the brand’s own store. Fabric weight in grams per square metre appears nowhere across all 179 declarations — the same answer as every other clothing brand read on this site.

The FA take

On the question worth asking of any ethnic-wear label — is there a company behind the name, and can a shopper see it — Aurelia answers well. A listed company is the seller of record on every marketplace record read, it holds the brand on the face of its own scheme and its own results release, and at a median ₹1,160 charged the clothes are honestly priced for what they are. The brand’s own shop is genuinely the cheaper place to buy, which is not true of most of this shelf.

Two things deserve scepticism, and neither is the kurta. The pricing is theatre at the edges: 107 MRPs, a timer with an end and no beginning, all of it expiring inside a 32-minute window overnight, with a coupon dated a month later sitting beside it. And the paperwork is untidy in a way a shopper can see — 64 manufacturer names on one site and one on another, a dissolved company still named as marketer on the brand’s own store, and no fabric weight published anywhere at all.

A well-owned brand with a badly kept label — buy on the discounted number, from the brand’s own shop or Ajio, and ignore the clock.
