Coach is an American leather-goods house, and its owner is named in its own paperwork: Coach’s terms of use state that “Tapestry, Inc. is the owner of the Coach brand (inclusive of Coach Outlet and Coachtopia)”.
For an Indian buyer the useful facts are narrower than the brand story. Coach has an Indian website, seven Indian stores and a named Indian company selling the goods — and a 376-listing shelf on Myntra where the seller of record is somebody else entirely. Both were read on 23 September 2026.
Coach belongs to Tapestry, Inc., a New York-listed group whose FY2026 accounts put Coach’s own net sales at $6,914.7 million out of a group $8,004.2 million. In India, coach.in is operated by Reliance Brands Limited, which its terms name as the seller, and the locator lists seven stores. A Tabby Shoulder Bag 26, style CH857, is $475 in the United States before sales tax and ₹66,999 on coach.in inclusive of all taxes. Coach publishes no serial or code check, and says in writing that it will not authenticate a bag.

Who owns Coach, and what Tapestry publishes
Tapestry, Inc. files with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission under CIK 0001116132 and trades on the New York Stock Exchange as TPR. Its Form 10-K for the year ended 27 June 2026 was filed on 13 August 2026, and nothing but insider-transaction forms has followed it, so those are the current annual figures.
Tapestry reports Coach as a segment of its own, so the brand’s revenue is published rather than folded into a group total. For FY2026 the earnings release gives Coach net sales of $6,914.7 million against $5,598.5 million a year earlier, and Coach operating income of $2,541.2 million against $1,875.3 million. Group net sales were $8,004.2 million and group net income $1,527.7 million. The FY2025 release described Coach as “approximately 80% of total revenue” for that year.
Ownership of the brand has not moved. Tapestry’s agreed purchase of Capri Holdings was ended by a termination agreement dated 13 November 2024, under which Tapestry paid Capri expenses “in an amount equal to $45,088,675”, described there as “the sole and exclusive remedy of Capri”. That deal would have brought other brands in, not moved Coach, and the sale of Stuart Weitzman on 4 August 2025 leaves Coach where it was. No filing read records any change of control of the brand.
How Coach reaches India
There is no site at india.coach.com. The Indian site is coach.in, and its footer carries no company name, no CIN and no GST number — the operator appears only inside the policies. The terms and conditions open by identifying “Reliance Brands Limited, having its registered addressed at 5th Floor, Court House, Lokmanya Tilak Marg, Dhobi Talao, Mumbai-400002, India (‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’), which operates the Coach Platform”. The privacy policy names the same company and the same address, and both name Melvin Jose as grievance officer, with Bhavishya Kelappan as nodal officer.
That address matches the register. A companies-register mirror carries the same Mumbai office for Reliance Brands Limited, CIN U51900MH2007PLC174470, incorporated 25 September 2007, paid-up capital about ₹2,130 crore. The terms set Indian law and the Mumbai courts, and state that “Price, as displayed, is inclusive of all applicable taxes.” It is a different arm of the retail group behind Reliance Trends, at the opposite end of the price ladder.
What no document states is what kind of arrangement it is. Nothing read calls it a licence, a franchise, a distribution agreement or a joint venture; Reliance Retail’s partner-brands page simply lists Coach among Reliance Brands Limited’s partner brands. Tapestry’s FY2026 10-K does not name India as a market, does not name Reliance Brands and describes no Indian arrangement at all — India appears in that filing only in the manufacturing section.
Tapestry does have an Indian company, and it is not the shop. Coach Leatherware India Private Limited, CIN U19116TN2008FTC070019, was incorporated on 27 November 2008 in Chennai with paid-up capital of ₹5,00,000, and the register mirror files it under the activity code for tanning and dressing of leather. It is the only India-jurisdiction company in Tapestry’s subsidiary exhibit, and nothing read names it as a seller to Indian buyers.
The locator listed seven Coach stores on 23 September 2026: two in Mumbai, two in Bengaluru, and one each in Chennai, Ahmedabad and New Delhi. Two of the seven print the operator’s name inside the address block as “Reliance Brands Limited (Coach)”. Trade press reported a first Indian Coach store at DLF Emporio, New Delhi in April 2017; that address is not on the current list.
- 2008Coach Leatherware India incorporated in Chennai, ₹5 lakh paid up
- coach.inTerms name Reliance Brands Limited as operator and seller
- 7 storesOn the locator, two printing “Reliance Brands Limited (Coach)”
- 376 listingsOn Myntra, sellers varying by category
Four records, all read on 23 September 2026; nothing read joins the fourth to the first three.
The second Coach shelf
Myntra’s brand filter for Coach held 376 listings on 23 September 2026, of which 113 were handbags and 100 were watches. A sounding of 60 handbag listings gave a median MRP of ₹50,000 and a median paid price of ₹41,990 — 84.0% of MRP — with all 60 reduced. The Emily Small Shoulder ran ₹50,000 down to ₹41,990; a leather structured handheld bag ₹67,500 down to ₹45,990. Across 100 listings covering the whole brand shelf the median MRP was ₹25,000 and the median paid ₹19,799.
On all 30 handbag records read, the seller of record is Darveys Global Store Private Limited and the importer line names NR Wardrobe Fuss Private Limited, of Delhi.

| On the Coach handbag records | Seller of record, 30 of 30 | Importer, 30 of 30 |
The register lists the same two directors for both companies. Those are register facts and they are printed as such: no document read links either company to Coach, to Tapestry or to Reliance Brands Limited, and nothing here says anything about the goods themselves.
Across the wider 40-record read of the whole shelf, the seller varies. A company called Shreyash Retail Private Limited owns a registered trade mark reading “Supercom Net”, and the marketplace names “Supercom Net” as seller of record on 26 of 40 listings read on 23 September 2026; no document read links Shreyash Retail Private Limited to the brand. Darveys appears on nine, a seller named as “Shantam International” on four and Olympia Industries Limited on one.
Much of that wider shelf is watches, and this audit covers the leather goods. The watch listings declare a different importer — MGI Distribution Private Limited, Bengaluru, on 25 of 40 records — and nothing read establishes who makes a Coach watch, so this page says nothing about them. For watch shelves, see this site’s audit of Fossil.
Where Coach bags are made
Tapestry’s manufacturing disclosure is short and checkable. The FY2026 10-K says its products “are manufactured by independent manufacturers”, then names the countries: “During fiscal 2026, manufacturers of Coach products were primarily located in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and India and no individual vendor provided 10% or more of the brand’s total inventory purchases.” The FY2025 10-K names the same four. The same section words its other house differently — Kate Spade product is made “primarily in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and Bangladesh”, with India left out. Tapestry owns no factories, and publishes no count of its manufacturers or split by country.
Set that against the Indian shelf. Of the 30 Coach handbag records read on Myntra on 23 September 2026, 27 declare country of origin India, with one each for Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. The two bags priced on coach.in the same day declare Vietnam, with Reliance Brands Limited on both the importer and marketer lines. Both readings are printed here; neither explains the other.
The declaration follows the goods, not the brand, so origin has to be read listing by listing. That block — manufacturer or packer, importer, country of origin, MRP inclusive of taxes — appeared on every listing read here, so read it before you pay.
Coach names the leather and stops there. CH857 is “Polished pebble leather” with “Fabric lining”; CP150 is “Nappa leather”. No tannery, no Leather Working Group rating and no certifier is named on either the American or the Indian product page read — a shorter disclosure than the hard-luggage makers in this site’s audits of VIP Industries and Safari.
What Coach costs in India
The cleanest comparison is a style code read on both sites the same day. Coach’s American terms state that “Purchases are subject to applicable taxes to be paid by the purchaser”, so the American list excludes sales tax; the Indian pages print “Price inclusive of all tax”. Two different tax bases, so the columns below sit side by side with no conversion between them.
| Style code | Product, as named | coach.com | coach.in | Indian tax basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CH857 | Tabby Shoulder Bag 26, polished pebble leather | $475, sales tax added at checkout | ₹66,999 | “Price inclusive of all tax” |
| CP150 | Tabby Shoulder Bag 26 with pillow quilting, Nappa leather | $575, sales tax added at checkout | ₹80,999 | “Price inclusive of all tax” |
Both pages read 23 September 2026. The Indian SKUs print as “CH857 B4 BK” and “CP150 B4MPL”.
Goods of heading 4202, which covers trunks, handbags and similar articles, carry 18% IGST under Notification No. 9/2025-Integrated Tax (Rate) of 17 September 2025. For a bag brought in personally, the personal-import duty was cut to 10% from 1 April 2026. No basic customs duty rate is printed here, because none was read from an official source.
Both coach.in bags sit above ₹40,000, where this site’s bag bands begin the Luxury tier, and that Indian selling price is the basis for the tier on this page.
What Coach publishes about authenticity
Coach’s Brand Protection page states the position plainly. “Counterfeiting is illegal,” it says, and counterfeit goods “do not undergo inspection processes”. It names the channels it calls authentic: “Authentic Coach products are sold by Coach retail and outlet stores and online at www.coach.com, world.coach.com or at authorized department stores and specialty stores.”
We do not respond to requests to authenticate product or identify authorized distributors.
That sentence is Coach’s own, and two things follow. Coach publishes no serial-number lookup, no QR check and no digital passport for an individual bag. And because the house also declines to identify authorised distributors, there is no published list of authorised Indian sellers to check a shop against. coach.in carries no authenticity statement in its terms either.
That absence is a choice rather than an industry limit. Tumi, checked the same way, runs TUMI Tracer, described on its own site as “a 20-digit tracer number” that a buyer registers, with the claim that “This unique serial code cannot be duplicated”. The method finds such a programme when a house runs one; Coach does not run one.
The creed-patch and date-code lore that circulates online is not Coach’s either. Every page found explaining creed patches and serial formats belongs to a third-party resale or authentication business, and no Coach document describing them was found, so this page prints no physical tell. The resale platform Luxepolis, which listed 656 Coach items that day, describes its own process as “condition grading and provenance documented thoroughly” — its claim about its own work, not one the house will confirm.
Buy where the house points
Coach names its own stores, coach.com and world.coach.com. In India that means a Coach store, or coach.in.
Match the style code
coach.in prints a style number and SKU — CH857 and CP150 on the two bags read here. Compare it with the code on the bag’s own tag before you pay.
Read the declaration
Importer, marketer, country of origin and MRP appeared on the listings read here. On the marketplace records the importer is a Delhi company, not Coach.
Keep the invoice
Coach will not authenticate a bag, so the seller’s paperwork is the only document you will hold. Get the style code and the seller’s name on it.
Returns, repairs and the record
coach.in allows a return “within 14 (fourteen) days from the date on which you receive the delivery of the Product”, provided the goods have not “been worn, cleaned or tampered with” and the tags and packaging are intact. Refunds come “within a period of 7-10 (seven to ten) business day”, personalised goods cannot be returned, and “We do not make any cash refunds”. Returns may also be made in store.
No Coach warranty term was readable on 23 September 2026 — the coach.com warranty page is not published at its linked address, and coach.in’s returns page carries no repair line. Ask the store what cover you get, and get it written on the invoice.
On the court record, nine search forms were run on Indian Kanoon, a public judgment database, on 23 September 2026 — among them “Coach Services, Inc”, “Coach IP Holdings”, “Coach Inc”, “Coach Leatherware” and “Tapestry, Inc”. None showed a decided Indian matter naming a Coach entity; the single hit under “Coach Inc” matched the words “Medical Coaches Inc.” inside an unrelated Delhi High Court judgment of 26 April 2023.
“Louis Vuitton Malletier” on the same database the same day showed 304 results, the first five Delhi High Court trade-mark decisions between 2009 and 2019, so the database does carry luxury-house enforcement when it exists. Read the Coach result as nothing found under those terms, in one database, on one day. It is not a finding by any court about Coach, not a statement that Coach has never gone to court in India, and nobody has ruled on anything set out here.
The Indian trade marks public search now opens on a sign-in screen asking for an email address or mobile number, so the register was not readable in this pass. This page claims nothing about who holds the COACH mark in India, and reports no absence from it.
Common questions
Who owns Coach?
Tapestry, Inc. of New York, listed on the New York Stock Exchange as TPR. Coach’s own terms of use name Tapestry as the owner of the brand, including Coach Outlet and Coachtopia. Tapestry also owns Kate Spade.
Who sells Coach in India?
Reliance Brands Limited, CIN U51900MH2007PLC174470. The coach.in terms and privacy policy name it as the company that operates the platform and sells the goods, and two of the seven store addresses print “Reliance Brands Limited (Coach)”. No document read says what type of arrangement sits behind that.
Are Coach bags made in India?
Some are. Tapestry’s FY2026 filing names Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines and India as the countries where Coach product is primarily made, and 27 of 30 Coach handbag records read on Myntra on 23 September 2026 declare India as country of origin. The two bags priced on coach.in that day declare Vietnam.
Will Coach tell me whether my bag is real?
No. Its Brand Protection page states that it does not respond to requests to authenticate product or identify authorized distributors, and it publishes no serial, QR or digital check for a bag. Keep your invoice and match the style code yourself.
Why is Coach cheaper on Myntra than on coach.in?
The two are different shops. Across 60 Coach handbag listings read on 23 September 2026 the median MRP was ₹50,000 and the median paid price ₹41,990, and every listing was reduced; coach.in prints one price. On those marketplace records the seller of record is Darveys Global Store Private Limited and the importer is NR Wardrobe Fuss Private Limited — neither is Coach or Reliance Brands Limited.

Coach is one of the better-documented luxury houses to buy in India. Tapestry reports it as a segment, so you read the brand’s own $6,914.7 million rather than guess at it from a group total. coach.in names its operator, its grievance officer and its governing law, and prints prices inclusive of tax. India is in the parent’s filing as a country where Coach product is made, and 27 of 30 marketplace records agree. Few imported houses give a reader that much to check.
The gaps are real. Nothing read says what kind of arrangement Reliance Brands has with Coach; the Indian site prints no CIN and no GST number; no warranty term was readable on 23 September 2026. And the house that calls counterfeiting illegal also says in writing that it will not authenticate a bag or name an authorised seller — leaving a buyer facing 376 Myntra listings — on the 30 handbag records read, sold and imported by two Delhi companies with ₹1,00,000 of paid-up capital each — with no published check to run.
A ₹66,999 bag whose paperwork you can verify and whose authenticity you cannot — so buy it from the seven stores or coach.in, and keep the invoice.
