G-Shock is not a company. It is a watch line made and sold by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. of Tokyo, which holds the G-SHOCK trade marks in India and publishes the line’s unit sales but not its revenue. Casio’s corporate history is told in our Casio audit, so this page stays with the watch.
In India the line reaches buyers through Casio’s own Indian company, Casio India Co. Private Limited. On 22 September 2026 that company’s address sat on all 40 G-Shock listings read on Myntra, and casio.com/in priced the basic square DW-5600UE-1 at ₹6,495.
G-Shock belongs to Casio, which does not break out its revenue; it said G-Shock sold about 1.5 million units in January–March 2026. In India it is imported by Casio India, which described itself, in pleadings recorded in a 2008 Delhi High Court decree, as a 100% subsidiary of Casio Japan. Core models cost ₹6,495 to ₹9,195 on casio.com/in on 22 September 2026, with a two-year Indian warranty. The famous 10-metre drop was a design target; the first model met an ISO and JIS standard for a 1-metre free fall.

Who owns G-Shock
G-Shock is one of Casio’s own product lines, and Casio’s filings record no sale, licence or change of ownership of it. The Indian trade-mark register mirror shows all four G SHOCK marks in the name of Casio Keisanki Kabushiki Kaisha, the Japanese name of Casio Computer. The oldest, No. 857237 for watches in class 14, was filed on 20 May 1999 and renewed in 2009 and 2019. It claims use since 1 April 1983, which is the applicant’s own claim rather than proof of Indian trading.
Owner revenue is not brand revenue, and Casio publishes only the first. For the year to 31 March 2026 Casio reported net sales of ¥276,267 million, and its timepieces segment sold ¥184,966 million, up from ¥166,127 million. In the quarter to 30 June 2026 timepieces sold ¥51.0 billion against ¥39.5 billion a year earlier, and Casio revised its forecast for the year to ¥300.0 billion of group sales. None of these figures is G-Shock alone.
What Casio does give is units. Its results briefing of 14 May 2026 says G-Shock sold “approx. 1.5 million units” in January–March 2026, of which about 150,000 were Baby-G, and puts G-Shock at “approx. 42%” without stating what that share is of. Casio’s Integrated Report 2025 counts “more than 160 million units” shipped since launch and about 2,300 G-SHOCK stores worldwide, with no as-of date beyond the report year.
India appears in that briefing by name. “Both online and offline sales were strong in India, which is a focus region,” it says, and Casio’s plan is to “strengthen exclusive and key dealers for sub-metropolitan and provincial cities”. No Indian figure for G-Shock is given.
How G-Shock reaches India
The route is Casio’s own company, not a licensee or a distributor holding the brand. Casio lists Casio India Co. Pvt. Ltd. in its group directory, and casio.com/in carries the footer “© 2026 Casio India Co., Pvt. Ltd.” In a Delhi High Court decree of 23 July 2008, Casio India described itself as “a 100% subsidiary of M/s Casio Computer Company Limited, Japan” and as “the sole marketing and selling agent of Casio Japan in India”. That is the company’s own pleading as it then stood; no current shareholding document was read.
The company’s corporate identity number ends in PTC, the code for an ordinary private company, rather than the FTC marker for a foreign-owned one. That does not rule out a foreign parent, but it is not the positive marker either. Register mirrors show ₹30 crore of paid-up capital. One mirror, TheCompanyCheck, carries revenue of ₹907.64 crore for 2024-25 and about 187 employees; that is an aggregator’s figure for everything the company sells, not audited accounts we have seen and not a G-Shock number.
The mirrors give the registered office as A-41, Mohan Cooperative Industrial Estate, Mathura Road, New Delhi, the address printed on Myntra’s listings; Casio’s group directory gives an address in Delhi Aerocity instead.
Casio India publishes an undated list of “Authorized Online Seller” names for its watches, platform by platform, from Amazon and Flipkart to Myntra, Tata CLiQ, Nykaa and AJIO. The list still names Jabong and Cloudtail India and does not separate G-Shock from other Casio watches, so treat it as a starting point rather than a current register. A second site, casiostore.bhawar.com, calls itself the “Official Casio G-SHOCK D2C Website” and says Bhawar Sales Corporation of Chennai is Casio India’s “exclusive authorized online sales partner” for that channel. That is the seller’s own description; Bhawar does not appear on Casio India’s list as read, and no Casio India document confirming it was found.
G-Shock on Myntra
Myntra has no G-Shock brand filter. A search for “g-shock” returns the CASIO filter, which held 194 products on 22 September 2026, and G-Shock sits inside it. Columbia returned 2,425 listings in the same session, so the search was working.
Across 100 Casio listings returned for “g-shock”, mostly G-Shock with at least one other Casio watch among them, the median MRP was ₹11,995 and the median price paid was also ₹11,995. Eighteen of the 100 carried a reduction, and there were 32 distinct MRPs. One named listing can be checked against Casio’s own site: the GA-2100-1A1DR was ₹9,195 with no reduction, the same figure casio.com/in prints. The GMA-S2100-1ADR was ₹9,295 and the GBM-2100A-1A2DR ₹19,995.
The declarations on 40 of those listings are unusually uniform. Every one names Casio India Co. Pvt Ltd at the Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate address in the manufacturer field, written as “Imported by”, and 34 repeat it as importer with six blank. Country of origin read Thailand on 18, China on 9, Japan on 5, “China, Thailand” on 4 and “China, Thailand, India” on 4.
A company called Adilaxmi Ecommerce Private Limited owns a registered trade mark reading “Flashtech Retail”, and the marketplace names “Flashtech Retail” as seller of record on 39 of 40 listings read on 22 September 2026; no document read links Adilaxmi Ecommerce Private Limited to the brand. The fortieth was sold by Bappa Associates.
Where G-Shock is made
Casio’s group directory lists three timepiece manufacturing companies: Yamagata Casio in Japan, Casio Timepiece (Dongguan) in China and Casio (Thailand). G-Shock’s US site calls Yamagata Casio “the ‘mother factory’ of G-SHOCK” and says the premium MR-G, MT-G and full-metal GMB2100 and GMWB5000 series are made there, with “total consistency” kept “from the manufacture of movements through the assembly of cases, dials, hands, indexes, and bands”.
The core models on casio.com/in are not those. On 22 September 2026 casio.com/in declared Thailand for the DW-5600UE-1, DW-5600RW-1 and G-5600E-1, and China for the GA-2100-1A1. Origin follows the reference, so read the declaration on the box rather than assuming “Japanese brand” means made in Japan.
The 10-metre drop, and what Casio actually says
The G-Shock story is usually told as “Triple 10”. Casio’s own history page tells it more carefully. The development target was “10-bar water resistance, shock resistance capable of withstanding a 10-meter drop, and a 10-year battery life”. The first model, the DW-5000C, shipped with 20-bar water resistance, a seven-year battery, and shock resistance “that met the standards set by ISO … and JIS” for performance “under the impact of a free fall from 1 meter”.
What Casio aimed for
The development target, in Casio’s words.
- 10-bar water resistance
- Survives a 10-metre drop
- 10-year battery
What the DW-5000C met
The first model, as Casio describes it.
- 20-bar water resistance
- ISO and JIS standard for a 1-metre free fall
- Seven-year battery
So the 10 metres was an engineering goal, and the standard Casio names for the watch it sold is a 1-metre one. Casio’s shock-resistance technology page today describes construction rather than a test: a module designed “to float inside the case”, “cushioning material” and a “protruding bezel”. It gives no drop height, test protocol or standard. None of that says the watches are fragile. It says the number a buyer has heard is not one Casio publishes as a specification.
The 10-metre drop was a target on a drawing board; the standard Casio names for the first watch it sold is a 1-metre free fall.
Water resistance is stated more precisely. Casio’s UK G-Shock site reads “20 bars – 200 metres – 20atm”, suitable for “swimming, non-professional diving, showering or swimming in the sea” but not “scuba diving or free diving”, and adds: “We generally advise to not press the G-SHOCK buttons underwater”. Only the Frogman is described as “ISO diver standard certified”.
What the movement claims say
G-Shock specifications are per reference, and Casio’s pages are the only source used here. The G-5600E-1 is listed as “Tough Solar (Solar powered)”, with Casio giving about 11 months of normal operation and 27 months in darkness with power save. The Japanese GW-M5610U-1JF adds Multiband 6 radio time-keeping, receiving signals in Japan, North America, Europe and China. The GA-2100-1A1 page describes a “Carbon Core Guard structure” with a carbon and resin case.
Warranty and service in India
Casio India’s warranty page reads, in full for watches, “Watches & Clocks : 2 years”, and Indian product pages repeat “Warranty: 2 years”. The page read gives no conditions, exclusions or bill requirement, so keep the invoice and the warranty card together.
Casio also publishes a “G-SHOCK International Warranty Network”, a list of service points by country. The version read opens “As of September, 2026” and has seven Indian entries: Casio India itself in Delhi and Bengaluru, and five other service firms. Casio’s Indian page introducing it says only “If you have any problems with your G-SHOCK, find out the nearest service center from this list”, and warns that G-SQUAD PRO models are “not covered by the G-SHOCK international warranty”.
No page read states how long that international warranty lasts or what it requires, and none says in terms that a G-Shock bought abroad will be repaired free in India. No Indian service price or interval is published on the pages read either. Ask a listed service point before relying on it.
What G-Shock costs in India
Casio’s Japanese site prints the manufacturer’s suggested retail price including Japanese consumption tax, and casio.com/in prints “MRP (incl. of all taxes)”. Two models match by reference, with only the Japanese market suffix added, and they are set side by side below with no conversion.
| Reference | casio.com/jp (tax included) | casio.com/in MRP (incl. of all taxes) | Match |
|---|---|---|---|
| DW-5600UE-1 | ¥14,300 (DW-5600UE-1JF) | ₹6,495, made in Thailand | Reference match |
| GA-2100-1A1 | ¥17,600 (GA-2100-1A1JF) | ₹9,195, made in China | Reference match |
| DW-5600E-1 | ¥12,100 | No casio.com/in page found | None |
| GW-M5610U-1 | ¥24,200 (Tough Solar, Multiband 6) | No casio.com/in page found | None |
| DW-5600RW-1 | Not read | ₹8,995, made in Thailand | India only |
| G-5600E-1 | Not read | ₹7,995, made in Thailand | India only |
All prices read 22 September 2026. Reference matches are the same base code; no exchange rate is applied and no gap is computed.
No exchange rate was read and no GST rate on watches was read from an official source, so this page computes neither a gap nor the tax inside the Indian MRP. The same GA-2100-1A1 sold on Myntra at ₹9,195 on the same day, so the marketplace and the brand’s own site agreed on that reference. For a watch bought abroad and brought home, the Budget 2026-27 cut duty on goods imported for personal use to 10% from 1 April 2026; how that applies to a watch in practice is not established.
On this site’s watch bands, casio.com/in’s ₹6,495 to ₹9,195 for the core square and octagonal models, and a Myntra median of ₹11,995, both sit in the mid-range, ₹3,000 to ₹15,000. The other big Japanese watch names, Seiko and Citizen, have audits of their own, as does Titan’s value label Sonata.
Checking a G-Shock is genuine
Casio publishes no serial, QR or hologram check for watches on any page read, though it runs one for scientific calculators. No shortcut tell is printed here, because Casio publishes none.
Counterfeiting is not a small problem for Casio, though its figures cover all its products rather than G-Shock alone. Casio’s intellectual-property page says “approximately 700,000 counterfeit items (excluding components) were seized in fiscal 2025 across 46 countries” and that it “executed over 210,000 takedowns across 80 countries”. In Japan the shape of the original DW-5000C has been a registered three-dimensional trade mark since 26 June 2023, No. 6711392; that right is Japanese, not Indian.
Read the importer line
All 40 Myntra listings read named Casio India Co. Pvt Ltd, A-41 Mohan Co-operative Industrial Estate, New Delhi. A different importer is a question for the seller.
Match the origin to the reference
casio.com/in declared Thailand for the DW-5600UE-1 and China for the GA-2100-1A1. The box must name the country of origin and an MRP inclusive of taxes.
Compare the price with casio.com/in
A GA-2100-1A1 was ₹9,195 on both casio.com/in and Myntra on 22 September 2026. A price far below the brand’s own MRP deserves a second look.
Check the seller against Casio India’s list
Casio India publishes authorised online sellers by platform. It is undated, so use it as one check among several.
The record in India
The decided Indian cases on the record involving Casio are not about G-Shock. Two Delhi High Court decrees of July 2011 granted Casio permanent injunctions against sellers of counterfeit Casio calculators, ex parte against the defendants who did not appear, with the others settling. The 2008 decree above protected the domain casioindia.com, also ex parte. On 4 February 2022 the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by Ajanta LLP in a dispute over Casio calculator designs. Each ruling was on that matter as it then stood; none concerned a watch, and nobody has ruled on anything beyond them.
Searches of Indian judgments under Casio’s Japanese company name, “G-SHOCK” and “Casio India Co” showed no decided case about G-Shock, so read it as nothing found under those terms rather than as a clean bill.
Who G-Shock is actually for
G-Shock suits a buyer who wants a hard-wearing digital or analogue-digital watch, a two-year Indian warranty and a brand whose Indian importer is named on every listing read. At ₹6,495 to ₹9,195 for the core models, it comes with a published water-resistance rating and a named Indian service network, two things to compare on any rival, from Fastrack to Timex.

Yes. G-Shock is a product line of Casio Computer Co., Ltd., not a separate company, and the four G SHOCK trade marks on the Indian register mirror are in Casio’s Japanese name.
Who sells G-Shock in India?
Casio India Co. Private Limited imports it and runs casio.com/in. It was named on all 40 Myntra listings read on 22 September 2026, and in a 2008 Delhi High Court decree it described itself as a 100% subsidiary of Casio Japan.
Are G-Shock watches made in Japan?
Some are. Casio says its premium MR-G, MT-G and full-metal lines are made at Yamagata Casio. The core models on casio.com/in declared Thailand or China on 22 September 2026.
Can a G-Shock survive a 10-metre drop?
Casio calls the 10-metre drop its development target. It says the first model met an ISO and JIS standard for a 1-metre free fall, and it publishes no drop height for today’s watches.

G-Shock is one of the easiest watch brands in India to trace. The trade marks are Casio’s, the importer is Casio’s own Indian company, its address was on every Myntra listing read, and the GA-2100-1A1 cost the same ₹9,195 on the marketplace as on casio.com/in. For ₹6,495 to ₹9,195, a buyer gets a Thai- or Chinese-made quartz watch with a stated 200-metre rating and a two-year Indian warranty.
The scepticism belongs to the legend and the paperwork around it. The 10-metre drop is a design target in Casio’s own telling, and the standard it names for the first watch is a 1-metre free fall. The international warranty network lists seven Indian service points but publishes no terms, and Casio publishes no authenticity check for watches on the pages read, though it runs one for calculators.
A well-traced ₹6,495 watch, worth buying from a listed seller, as long as you buy the 1-metre fact rather than the 10-metre story.
