The name on a Michael Kors watch belongs to Capri Holdings, the New York-listed group that owns the MICHAEL KORS trade marks. The watch itself is made and sold by another company altogether: Fossil Group, Inc., which holds an exclusive worldwide licence for Michael Kors watches that its latest annual report says expires on 31 December 2027.
That split decides almost everything an Indian buyer needs to know, from who imports the watch to who will look at it when it stops. This page covers the watch line only; the fashion house will get an audit of its own. Fossil’s own story is told in our Fossil audit.
Michael Kors watches are a licence: Capri owns the marks, and Fossil makes and sells the watches under a licence that runs to 31 December 2027 as last published. On 22 September 2026 Myntra’s Michael Kors watch filter held 340 listings, Fossil India Private Limited was named as importer on 33 of 40 declarations read, and 35 of those 40 declared China as the country of origin. The median price paid across 100 listings was ₹15,286. The brand’s own Indian site sells through a British company and says Indian duties and taxes are extra.

Who owns Michael Kors Watches
Capri Holdings’ annual report for the year to 28 March 2026 says it plainly: “We own MICHAEL KORS and JIMMY CHOO trademarks.” The same report names the watch partner in one sentence: “Fossil is our exclusive licensee for Michael Kors watches and jewelry.” A licence is not ownership. Fossil pays for the right to use a name it does not own, for a fixed term.
Fossil’s 10-K for the fiscal year ended 3 January 2026 describes “multi-year, worldwide exclusive license agreements for the manufacture, distribution and sale of watches” under other companies’ brand names. Its licence table gives MICHAEL KORS an expiry of 31 December 2027. Fossil announced the extension on 13 February 2025, when its chief executive, Franco Fogliato, said the company had been “entrusted with their brand for over 20 years”.

Each step rests on a separate document.
The licence matters to Fossil more than any other it discloses. “Sales of our licensed products accounted for 47.3% of our consolidated net sales for fiscal year 2025,” the 10-K says, “including MICHAEL KORS product sales, which accounted for 19.2%.” Armani product sales were 10.1%. On those two disclosed figures, Michael Kors is the largest licensed brand Fossil breaks out. Fossil gives no dollar figure for it.
The licence also carries a condition. Fossil’s 10-K says the agreement “provides the licensor with a right to terminate some or all of the licensing rights if we fail to meet certain net sales thresholds for two consecutive years.” Fossil reported a net loss attributable to the group of $78.3 million for fiscal 2025, and a net loss of $10.6 million for the quarter to 4 July 2026. Fossil’s filings from 12 March to 22 September 2026 include no announcement of a renewal, extension or termination. As of 22 September 2026 the last published term runs to the end of 2027.
Capri owns the name on the dial; Fossil makes and sells the watch, on a licence whose last published term ends on 31 December 2027.
Owner revenue is not brand revenue here either. Capri reported $2,874 million of Michael Kors segment revenue for fiscal 2026, and its 10-K says that figure “includes licensed product such as watches, jewelry, eyewear, fragrances and licensing revenue.” Capri publishes no separate watch line. Its filings from 1 January to 22 September 2026 record no sale, merger or change of control of Capri or Michael Kors.
How Michael Kors Watches reach India
No document read names an Indian distributor or licensee for Michael Kors watches. What the documents show is three separate routes.

Each route names a different seller, or none.
The first route runs through Fossil’s Indian company. Fossil’s list of subsidiaries at 3 January 2026 includes “Fossil India Private Ltd.” A register mirror gives its identity number as U18101KA2007PTC071705, its incorporation as 31 August 2007 in Karnataka, and its paid-up capital as ₹11,38,50,100, with a registered office on Cubbon Road, Bengaluru. Fossil India’s own site, fossil.in, carried no mention of Michael Kors on its home page on 22 September 2026.
The second route is the brand’s own site. Indian visitors to michaelkors.com are sent to michaelkors.global/in/en, which prices watches in rupees. Its terms read: “Your contractual party for the purchase of Products on michaelkors.global is Global-E U.K. Limited.” The site operator is named as Michael Kors (Switzerland) GmbH of Manno, and the footer names no Indian company.
The third route is the shop floor. Michael Kors’s Indian locator lists eight stores, including two airport stores in Delhi and Mumbai, and names no operating company. A customs tribunal order of 1 April 2024, in Reliance Brands Luxury Fashion Pvt. Ltd. (formerly Genesis Luxury Fashion Private Limited) v. Principal Commissioner of Customs, records a “Master Store License Agreement dated 17.05.2013 with Michael Kors LLC, USA”. The order records that agreement as it then stood; it does not mention watches or Fossil, no later document read says the agreement runs in 2026, and nobody has ruled on anything beyond what the order records.
Michael Kors Watches on Myntra
Myntra’s “Michael Kors” brand filter held 864 listings on 22 September 2026, and 340 with the Watches category applied. Columbia, the control brand used across these readings, returned 2,428 listings in the same session.
Across 100 watch listings, all in the Watches category, the median MRP was ₹20,495 and the median price paid was ₹15,286, or 74.6% of MRP. Fifty-three of the 100 carried a reduction, and there were 16 distinct MRPs. Two named listings: the MK3897 Pyper was ₹16,495 reduced to ₹10,391, and the MK6475I ₹22,995 reduced to ₹14,716.
The declarations on 40 listings name Fossil India Private Limited as importer on 33, with the line blank on the other seven. A company called Shreyash Retail Private Limited owns a registered trade mark reading “Supercom Net”, and the marketplace names “Supercom Net” as seller of record on 36 of 40 listings read on 22 September 2026; no document read links Shreyash Retail Private Limited to the brand. The other four were sold by ADONIS KOMMERCE.
Where the watches are made
Fossil’s 10-K is the only filing that speaks to manufacture, and it speaks of Fossil’s watches as a whole. “The majority of our watch and jewelry products are currently assembled or manufactured to our specifications by independent entities in China,” it says. “Most watch product sourcing is coordinated through our Hong Kong SAR subsidiary, Fossil (East) Limited.” It adds: “We have some limited watch assembly operations through an owned facility in India.” It does not say which brands pass through that facility.
The Myntra declarations follow the same outline. Of 40 records, 35 declared China, three “China, India” and two India. Twelve manufacturer lines were blank and four carried only a dash; Foshan Nanhai NanHua Metal & Gem Crafts Co. Ltd of China appeared on eight, and Fossil India on at least seven. The brand’s own product pages, in India and the US, say only “Imported”. None of this makes the watch Swiss, and no page read calls it so.
What the movements are
Michael Kors product pages describe movements by type, not by calibre. The four references read on 22 September 2026 are set out below in the brand’s own words.

No calibre, movement maker, power reserve, crystal material or certification is published on those pages. The Lexington’s page speaks of an “open-front case that showcases the inner workings of its automatic dial” and goes no further. Three of the four references read are quartz; the Lexington is the one automatic.
Warranty and service in India
The brand’s Indian warranty page is precise about its limits. “This warranty only applies to purchases made on michaelkors.global and excludes products purchased in Michael Kors store locations in … India … or from sources other than Michael Kors directly.” For those, it says, “please return to the original place of purchase with your receipt for assistance.”
For site orders the terms are clear: “Watches (excluding smartwatches) purchased on michaelkors.global are protected by a two-year (or longer period where required by applicable law) warranty (proof of purchase is required).” Claims go through a Contact Us form, and the page says Michael Kors pays to ship the defective product to it. For a stockist purchase, “the stockist will be able to assist you.” Product pages in India and the US print “2-year warranty”.
No page read names an Indian service centre for Michael Kors watches, or a service price or interval. Fossil India publishes a service line, 1800 296 1234, but its warranty page covers Fossil-brand watches, and no page read says it services Michael Kors. No page read says a Michael Kors watch bought abroad is serviced in India either. Outside the brand’s own site, the shop that sold the watch is the only named point of contact, so keep the receipt.
What Michael Kors Watches cost in India
The same four references can be read on the brand’s US and Indian sites by reference code. Prices are set side by side with no conversion and no gap computed. The US site prices exclude sales tax, which its FAQ says is “calculated based on the laws of the state or jurisdiction where the order is shipped”. The Indian site’s shipping terms say orders for delivery to India “may be subject to additional duties and taxes, which must be paid by the recipient”.

The Indian site prints no “MRP” and no “inclusive of all taxes” wording on the pages read, so treat its figures as the site’s selling price, not an Indian MRP. For a watch shipped from abroad to an individual, one fact applies: the Budget 2026-27 cut duty on goods imported for personal use to 10% from 1 April 2026; how that applies to a watch in practice is not established.
On this site’s watch bands, the Myntra median price paid of ₹15,286 sits just inside the premium band, which runs from ₹15,000 to ₹1,00,000, and the median MRP of ₹20,495 and the brand site’s ₹20,000 to ₹50,000 sit well inside it. That is the basis for the band on this page. Among Indian fashion-led watch names, Fastrack and Titan Raga have audits of their own, as does Timex.
Checking a Michael Kors watch is genuine
Michael Kors publishes no serial lookup, QR code or authenticity check for watches on any page read, and neither its Indian nor its US FAQ carries a question about counterfeits. Fossil publishes none either. No shortcut tell is printed here, because neither company publishes one.
Capri’s 10-K says the group pursues “counterfeiters in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and elsewhere in the world in both online and offline channels.”
Read the importer line
Fossil India Private Limited was named as importer on 33 of 40 Myntra declarations read on 22 September 2026. A blank or different line is a question for the seller.
Match the reference
Every watch carries an MK reference. Check it against the brand’s site for the movement, case size and water resistance the watch should have.
Keep the receipt
Outside the brand’s own site, the warranty page sends every claim back to the place of purchase with the receipt. Without one, there is no named route.
The record in India
Beyond the tribunal order above, one decided Indian matter names a Michael Kors company. On 26 September 2025 the Delhi High Court, in Navneet Goel v. State (NCT of Delhi), quashed a 2024 police case over 21 bags bearing Michael Kors marks after a settlement with Michael Kors (Switzerland) International GmbH. It was decided on compromise, not on the merits, so it makes no finding about the bags, and it concerned bags, not watches. Each of these rulings was on its own matter as it then stood, and nobody has ruled on anything beyond them.
A search of Indian judgments for “Michael Kors” on 22 September 2026 showed no consumer-commission decision about a Michael Kors watch, so read that as nothing found under that term.
Who Michael Kors Watches are for
A Michael Kors watch suits a buyer who wants a fashion-house name on a steel quartz watch and is content with a two-year warranty handled by whoever sold it. At a Myntra median of ₹15,286 it costs about as much as the entry end of the premium band, and the price paid is the number to watch, because 53 of 100 listings carried a reduction on the day.

The paperwork behind a Michael Kors watch is unusually clear at the top. Capri’s 10-K says who owns the name, Fossil’s says who makes the watch and until when, and Fossil’s Indian company was named as importer on 33 of 40 Myntra declarations. For a buyer who wants the name on a steel quartz watch, the Myntra median of ₹15,286, against a median MRP of ₹20,495, is the realistic price.
The scepticism belongs to what happens after the sale. The brand’s Indian warranty page excludes its own Indian stores and sends every buyer outside its website back to the shop with a receipt. No Indian service centre, no calibre and no authenticity check are published on any page read. The licence itself carries a sales-threshold termination right, with a last published end date of 31 December 2027.
